The Money-Obssessed Archmage's Second Life As A Broke Duke-Chapter 59 - Imagine I’m Having Sex With A Girl?
Chapter Fifty Nine
Ba-Da-Thump.
My heart pounded in my chest as I stared at the faces of the two angels, chewing on the fitters.
Lily and Lune were currently locked in a state of suspended animation, their cheeks puffed out like little squirrels as they chewed the fritters. Neither of them had blinked in thirty seconds.
[Ping!]
[Calm down, Host. They’ll like it.]
I know. I know. I can’t just help this feeling of anxious in my chest.
[Ping!]
[How about Host focus on something else while they eat?]
Ughhh... Okay. Show Task Completion Update.
[Ping!]
[Task Completion Bar : 10%]
Huh? How? I didn’t even do anything fun yet? Ugh... How am I gonna guess the task now...
[Ping!]
[And, that’s why Host should not forget to check progress very frequently.]
I can’t just go around checking it everytime, Sysi. You know what that sounds like?
[Ping!]
[What?]
Like imagine I’m taking a dump.
[Ping!]
[No. Try something else.]
Imagine I’m having sex with a girl?
[Ping!]
[Host is a virgin. Next.]
Why are you being so hurtful? I’m so mad, now.
[Ping!]
[20 Gold Has Been Transferred To Assets!]
Wow, Sysi! Do I look like a beggar to you? You want to buy my anger for a mere 20 Gold?
[Ping!]
[Looks like Host has forgotten when he came here he only had 12 copper.]
Ouch. You’re being really hurtful today, Sysi... I’m in so much pain. I’m going to die!
[Ping!]
[Drama king.]
Oi!
"...Daddy?"
Lily’s voice cut through my internal bickering like a silver bell. My body tensed, the playful banter with Sysi evaporating instantly. I turned to her, my expression shifting from "annoyed at my yappy system" to "adoring father" in 0.2 seconds.
"Yes, my treasure?"
Lily was holding the half-eaten fritter with both hands, the golden wildflower glaze shimmering under from the sun light entering through the window. Small, crystalline crumbs dusted her fingertips and the corner of her lips. She looked at the treat, then up at me, her eyes wide with confusion.
"Who made these?" she asked softly.
My stomach did a somersault. "Is... is the flavor too strange? Are they bad?"
I looked toward Lune, hoping for a sign. However, her wide, amber eyes were locked onto the fritter in her hand with a predatory focus, as if she were afraid it might grow wings and fly away if she blinked. She didn’t even notice the world around her anymore.
"No, Daddy," Lily whispered, her voice thick with wonder. "I’ve never tasted anything so... so magical. The porridge at the orphanage was always watery and bland, and we only got the those on weekends if we were good."
A sharp pang of guilt and anger twisted in my chest at the mention of the orphanage, but I forced a smile. "Ah... I see. Well, you’ll never have to eat watery porridge again, Lily. I promise."
"Big Sis Lune?" Lily reached out, gently tugging on the fox kin’s sleeve.
"Krh!"
Lune jumped slightly, snapping out of her sugar-induced trance. She looked at Lily, then at the fritter, then back at Lily.
"What do you think of these, Big Sis?" Lily asked, pointing to the plate.
"Krrrhhh!" Lune’s large, fluffy ears twitched frantically in response like a pair of radar dishes, and her tail began to wag so hard it created a small breeze, thumping rhythmically against the wooden chair as she gave a wide, toothy grin.
Ah... They both enjoyed it. I’m so glad.
"I need to thank the person who made these, Daddy!" Lily exclaimed, her eyes shining as she watched the blur of Lune’s tail.
"Look how happy Big Sis Lune is! I’ve never seen her wag her tail like that. She was so depressed when I brought her to my room."
I couldn’t help the foolish smug grin that tugged at my lips. I leaned back, crossing my arms with a flourish. "I made them, baby."
Lily froze, her tiny hand halfway to her mouth. "Really, Daddy?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Yes," I said, winking at her. "Every single one."
"Ah! They’re really, truly amazing!" She beamed, but then her expression turned shy. She looked down at her lap, fidgeting with the hem of the fine silk dress I’d bought her. "Umm... Daddy? We also have a gift for you. A real one."
I felt a lump form in my throat. "A gift? For me?"
Wait... Wouldn’t it be the first time I ever received a gift? Damn.
"Yes! Big Sis Lune designed it on paper. She’s so good at drawing shapes! I was going to ask Lady Selia for some high-quality fabric so we could stitch it together. We wanted to make something special because..." Her voice trailed off, turning soft and empathetic. "Because you only ever wear that one outfit ever since I saw you... while you bought me so many beautiful things, daddy."
I looked over at Lune. The fox-girl had stopped her tail-wagging and was looking her eyes twinkling with sincerity.
"I guess, I’ll take a look."
"Yes! Lemme bring Big Sis Lune’s sketch!"Lily scrambled off her chair, her small boots clattering against the stone floor as she ran to her bed, lifting the mattress up, slightly from one edge.
Lily returned clutching a folded sheet of parchment like it was treasure itself. She held it out with both hands, standing very straight, the way children do when something matters more than words.
"Here," she said. "Please don’t laugh."
I took it gently. The paper was creased and smudged with charcoal fingerprints. When I unfolded it, my breath stalled for just a second.
It was a very royal like outfit. A design worthy of being in The Emperor’s collection.
However, there was a single flaw that seemed to prick my eyes...
Sysi, I have never done fashion designing. I can’t even draw. How can I see flaws such a complex sketch? It’s so absurd.
[Ping!]
[Host inherited The World’s Greatest Designer’s knowledge. That’s why. If Host practices he can make even more wonderful sketches than these.]
Is that so...
"Lily? Lune?"
"Yes, daddy?"
"Do you want to open a clothing store?"
