The Mob Character Who Woke Up!-Chapter 76: Actual First Day at Academy! (2)
Kaizen walked back down the hallway with a completely pristine nose because Nurse Jenny had patched him up with a terrifying efficiency that strongly suggested she enjoyed the process of molding cartilage a little too much for his comfort.
She had also said many weird things while treating him, like she was extremely excited to see how this whole situation was going to end.
Something about some stupid stuff about mending her silver haired maiden commoner, whatever the hell that meant.
She was practically vibrating with excitement while telling him that she was incredibly curious about how her two heroes would react to his injuries.
Kaizen did not understand anything she was rambling about, but he did not question anything either since he already knew she was a little weird and possibly insane.
Also she clearly had some health issues because she was bleeding from her nose once again, just like the last time he was there. Kaizen had thought to himself that even a doctor apparently could not heal everything, not even themselves.
He paused with his hand hovering over the brass doorknob of Class 1-A because a sudden and very intrusive thought had violently invaded his brain regarding the potential tactical application of his two overprotective headaches named Leo and Klaus.
If those two idiots found out that Lance Wind had casually used his face as a punching bag merely minutes ago, they would undoubtedly unleash a catastrophic amount of mana that would likely reduce the entire school wing to rubble and drag him into a blood feud that he was definitely not equipped to handle at his pathetic level.
But.
Why should he not use them?
The thought whispered in his mind like a devil sitting on his shoulder because even though he knew the plot and the eventual downfall of the Trash Young Master, he was still a sixteen year old boy with a bruised ego and a burning desire to see immediate karma delivered via high velocity magic to Lance's smug face.
Lance was destined to get beaten up by Leo eventually throughout the school year according to the game plot, so would it not be efficient and perhaps extremely satisfying to accelerate the timeline and bring that beatdown forward to, say, this afternoon during lunch?
'I absolutely cannot just ask them directly though.'
He reasoned with himself that running to Leo and Klaus like a toddler tattling to his big brothers would only make Lance take him seriously as a legitimate threat, which would inevitably lead to actual assassination attempts when the main characters were not looking.
He needed subtlety and careful manipulation because if he was going to start a war in the classroom, he needed to be the guy selling the popcorn in the back row rather than the guy standing on the front lines holding a giant target sign.
A dark, chaotic smile began to spread across his face as he plotted the downfall of an entire noble house using nothing but rumors and misunderstood friendships.
This is going to be fun.
"Student, why are you looming in the doorway like a gargoyle contemplating suicide?"
A sharp female voice cut through his villainous internal monologue and nearly caused his soul to violently leave his body for the second time that morning.
Kaizen spun around in surprise to see a stern looking professor with glasses staring at him with the kind of unimpressed glare that could physically wither a houseplant.
"I apologize profusely, I was just contemplating the architectural integrity of the brass fixtures and doorframe construction."
He scrambled to open the door and practically dove into the classroom to escape her judgmental gaze, praying desperately to every god he did not believe in that the class roster was not as bad as he feared.
He hoped against hope that it was just the big three disasters, Leo, Klaus, and Lance, because he could maybe manage three catastrophes if he triangulated his position correctly in the back corner and kept his head down.
He opened the door.
He was immediately assaulted by a wall of noise and overwhelming personality that smelled distinctively like concentrated main character energy.
Leo Crimson was literally sitting on top of a desk at the front of the room, loudly recounting an exaggerated story about fighting a wild boar to a group of mesmerized students who were hanging on his every word like he was a prophet.
"And then I grabbed both tusks with my bare hands and wrestled it to the ground!"
Several students gasped in awe.
Klaus Silver was sitting in the exact center of the room, reading a book bound in black leather while radiating such a potent aura of do not talk to me that the students sitting on the same bench were physically leaning away from him as if he were radioactive material.
Lance Wind was lounging in a corner seat like he personally owned the entire building, while his two remaining lackeys were actually massaging his shoulders and feet as if he had just run a marathon instead of just punching a student in the hallway.
Kaizen felt a bead of nervous sweat roll down his forehead because that was already a volatile cocktail of personalities, but then his eyes drifted to the window seats and his heart sank into his shoes.
Cedric Alexander was sitting there too, the fourth Heavenly King. He had his leg propped up on top of the table, just looking at the outside view while slowly chewing on an apple.
He did not have anybody beside him bothering him because he was a known loner who did everything alone and genuinely believed that asking for help was nothing but showing absolute weakness. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Kaizen's eyes turned to the front benches, and he visibly flinched.
Princess Rina Valentina and the half orc Hilda Guard were sitting together, with Hilda laughing boisterously while pointing at Leo's performance and Rina looking out the window with that cool, aloof expression that meant she was silently judging everyone in the room and finding them wanting.
No way. This cannot be happening.
Just in front of them sat Gad Buster, the dwarven artificer prodigy, who was enthusiastically explaining the complex rune structure of a magical toaster to a confused student who just wanted to know if this was the right classroom.
Kaizen's eyes darted frantically around the room and realized with mounting horror that it was not just the main cast, but also the sub cast, the comic relief characters, the recurring bullies, and the quest giving NPCs all crammed into one room like a fan fiction writer's fever dream.
He saw the suspicious guy who gives the demon possession quest in the second arc. He saw the cheerful girl who starts the cooking club arc. He saw the twins who inevitably betray the hero in the second semester. He saw the transfer student who arrives with a secret. He saw the girl with the crush on Leo. He saw the guy with the crush on the Princess.
Every single plot relevant character was here.
His hands started to tremble violently because he realized that Class 1-A was not actually a classroom. It was a singularity of plot points waiting to explode.
'I am literally done for. This is a statistical impossibility.'
'The game had multiple classes. Multiple divisions. There is no way every single important character ended up here unless the universe is actively conspiring against me.'
The chaos was so overwhelming that he seriously considered turning around, walking out the door, changing his name to Bob, and living the rest of his miserable life as a turnip farmer in the countryside far away from all of this.
Then Leo spotted him.
"KAIZEN!"
The entire classroom went silent.
Every head turned to look at him.
Leo jumped off the desk and started walking toward him with a huge smile.
Klaus looked up from his book.
Lance's eyes narrowed.
Cedric glanced over with mild interest.
The Princess turned her head.
Kaizen stood frozen in the doorway like a deer caught in headlights.
'I am going to die in this classroom. Not physically, but my peaceful life is definitely dead.'
Leo reached him and grabbed his shoulders.
"Where were you? I was looking for you! Come sit with me!"
The entire class was watching.
Kaizen forced a smile, as his lips twitched violently.
