Chapter 124: Chapter 86: Curiosities of the Forge Workshop 2

Having been intercepted by someone in the middle, it was rather essential to know whether that person was tall or short so that a proper "greeting" could be given if they ever truly encountered each other again. Number Zero’s malicious thoughts were well concealed behind her harmless-looking face. The big, foolish man behind her would definitely not go asking any questions.

"Suppose so," thought the woman with the half-mask. It was not right to reveal a player’s privacy, but considering the uniqueness of the person who had come to exchange for military merits earlier, even if she did reveal something, it wouldn’t have much impact. Zero and Yijie were new free players who had just joined Military Road. It was good for them to understand more about the organizations and factions. "I can’t disclose the name of the person who directly exterminated others, but I can tell you that he is a member of Yanhuang. Yanhuang is a newly arisen large organization that caters to players like those from Hua Country with yellow skin, black hair, and black eyes. For new players, joining such an organization is also an option."

The half-masked woman spoke with some skillfulness. She didn’t specify whether joining Yanhuang was good or bad. It was up to the individual to decide, and the outcomes varied from person to person.

"Thanks, but we’re not interested," came the unanimous reply from two different people. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Had they formed an unspoken understanding in just a day and a night? A smile curved on the veil of the half-masked woman. These two players had piqued her interest.

"Then, I have another suggestion for you. If you have time, take a look at the Forge Room in the city. The stuff there is much more regular than what you’d find at the Dark Night Market." The half-masked woman hinted, seeming to have sensed the smell of the Dark Night Market on Zero and Yijie. People were indeed curious creatures.

Different from the equipment stores in the city, the Forge Room did not sell weapons directly. Instead, it used the weapons, equipment, and materials provided by players to enhance their attributes.

As they entered the Forge Room, the temperature inside made Zero immediately break into a sweat, banishing the sleepiness with the heat.

A completely enclosed bellows-style iron furnace had three Fire Head Workers just for tending the furnace. One was responsible for pumping the bellows, another scooping firewood, and the third poured the molten iron into a tray on the side.

Around 1400 BC, in what is now known as Anatolia, the Hittites were the first to discover the element iron in meteorites. It wasn’t until around 1000 BC that iron tools were widely used.

However, in the largest Forge Room in Babylon City, sealed furnaces for players to enhance weapon attributes had already appeared. Wisps of smoke billowed out of the furnace, and each person’s eyes glowed with the red hue of hot coals.

Calling it the Forge Room was actually an understatement; it was, in fact, more like a forge. Because forging required high temperatures and a source of water for cooling, the Forge Room was an open-concept workspace. Three sides were open, and high stone beams were barely covering the furnace.

The rest of the Forge Room was divided into several areas. One area had weapons and equipment custom-made for other players that were already finished. A region was piled with black, shining coal. The final area consisted of two cooling pools the size of swimming pools. To maintain the temperature of both cooling pools, a water carrier worked tirelessly to keep the water cool around the clock.

"Welcome to Ryan’s Forge Room. Here, as long as you can afford it, you can find the best weapons and Jewelry in the world." A muscled blacksmith with over twenty years of experience approached them. He wore a grey, ash-covered headscarf on his head, was shirtless, and held a forging hammer in his hand.

Since Babylon City started hosting these foreign guests, Ryan’s Forge Room’s high furnace had been operating day and night, his three Fire Head Workers and two apprentices forging diligently around the clock to craft the most perfect equipment.

When the two customers entered the store, they did not immediately ask what products could be forged, unlike typical players who would be eager to inquire.

The man, who seemed to have the physique of a proper Forging Master in Ryan’s eyes, scrutinized the area scattered with weapons. His gaze moved from guns to knives, nodding when he saw something he liked, and frowning at unsatisfactory items.

As for the young female soldier, she barely glanced at those items, as if Ryan’s prized creations were invisible to her. Instead, she noticed some accessories placed in a corner.

Even in Military Road, men’s and women’s preferences were distinct. With the mentality of a shrewd blacksmith, Ryan speculated the different needs of the two guests.

Yijie had come to the Forge Room with the same intention as Ryan had imagined— to craft a gun rack and also to modify his troublesome Hand Cannon. Without solving the Bomb issue, his Hand Cannon was virtually useless.

"I’d like to make a gun rack, and I also want to improve this Hand Cannon," Yijie took a piece of coal and then a piece of papyrus handed by Ryan and started drawing on it.

This young man? Ryan was surprised as Yijie detailed all the steps and procedures needed to improve the gun rack and Hand Cannon. It was as if all the information was stored in his brain. Most customers who had come before would modify their weapons based on Ryan’s suggestions.

"Uncle, I want a necklace like that," Zero finally spoke up. She had spent a long time deciding and finally chose a necklace. (To be continued.
