The Max Level Hero Has Returned!-Chapter 1268
Davey shared the fragments of information he had learned from Haitai with his three wives.
“So, the prophetic dream you had when you named him Abel wasn’t actually tied to that ancient emperor, Abel the Womanizer King?”
“Right. Just because two people share a name, that doesn’t mean they’ll live the same life. We only assumed that because of what the dream showed.”
The goddess had given the youngest a special name precisely because he wasn’t like Darian. Their newborn was a child of divinity!
That meant his fate carried weight and significance far greater than any ordinary being. Multiple elements bound him and came together to form his destiny.
Perserque, still not quite used to her flat belly after giving birth, kept absently running her hand over it.
Illyna muttered as she glanced at the baby crib, “But really. Of all people, the son of someone as uptight as Davey turning into a shameless womanizer running after every girl? That’s pretty hard to swallow.”
Darian slept soundly within the crib, hugging his newborn brother. It was something he never usually did with anyone, so she figured he must’ve liked his younger brother a lot to be cuddling with him.
Seeing the two together made for a surprisingly sweet sight.
“Then wouldn’t giving him the name Abel actually be better?” Aeria was the first to speak. “He’s a child of divinity, after all. If fate itself clamps down and fixes his future, that’ll be too cruel.”
“But if we can find a name that leads to a good future, maybe that’s the better choice.”
As parents, they couldn’t help but want their son to live his best life. Still, it’d be a lie to say that they wouldn’t care if their son just grew up into a womanizer.
“Do you think the same, Sister?”
“I’m torn.”
It was almost laughable.
“I mean, I still can’t picture Davey’s son being that indecent.”
“That’s exactly why it’s possible.” Perserque smirked, remembering what had happened earlier in the day.
“Because he’s Davey’s son?”
“Davey had his values set in stone from long ago. That’s why he never went around stirring up trouble with women,” Perserque reminded them.
“I know that.”
“But what about the youngest?”
Polygamy wasn’t a rare practice in Tionis. In certain regions, powerful royals often had multiple wives.
“The youngest comes from an abnormal family at the very start. He already has three mothers to begin with.”
The world he grew up in would feel very different from Davey’s, instilling different values
“Even so...”
“If he ends up inheriting Davey’s habit of causing trouble here and there without meaning to?”
Aeria and Illyna both nodded with worry and agreement.
Davey had drawn a clear line for himself with others, yet even then, there had been no shortage of women who had fallen for him.
“Arberta Kingdom’s Chancellor Tsuna; Princess Myurin Prasias Nacha of the outer dimension; and even the Saintess of the Divine Tree have fallen prey to his charm.”
“The Saintess of the Divine Tree?!” That would be Emilia, the priestess of the current World Tree Al.
Another of the titles made Illyna leap to her feet in shock. “The high elf maiden too?”
“Not just her, either. There was also a young gold dragon in the Dragon’s Nest. She said she wanted to grow up and be with Davey one day.”
She had heard that the young hatchling said she wanted to go to Davey after growing up, only to get scolded by her elders for it.
“Thinking back... he’s left a lot of broken hearts behind,” Aeria admitted with surprise.
“And what drove it home was what happened today.” Perserque went on to tell them about Davey’s conversation with Kouna earlier.
Illyna and Aeria both sighed deeply once the tale was finished.
“Well, he did save her life. She can understand him in ways no one else can, so of course no other man would catch her eye.”
“She hid it pretty well until now.”
- Don’t treat me like a child.
To say that wasn’t just a tantrum. It had been an unspoken demand for an answer as to why he wasn’t seeing her as a woman.
“We probably shouldn’t be the ones saying this, but...” Illyna began.
“Right. You two are in the same boat, after all. But since I’ve already drawn a line, I won’t tolerate anyone else crossing it either,” Perserque said.
“Well then... What about Lady Reina?” Aeria muttered.
“No, her case is different. That’s obsession, not affection. She's more like a child trying to keep her parents to herself.”
In the end, Davey had unknowingly messed with a number of women. Unlike him, who restrained himself and drew clear lines, the youngest’s upbringing would be different, so it wasn’t hard to imagine him taking on another path.
“Then what was with the whole thing of succeeding the father? Does he think he’s some kind of special king?” Illyna, quoting a line from a game from Earth, muttered in disbelief, “That probably comes from his position as the Demon King or divinity.”
Davey stood at a level higher than any emperor or king in history. There wouldn’t be anything surprising in a twisted child coming from those attributes.
“That’s why I sometimes think that rather than carrying this constant anxiety, maybe he should just walk the safe path.” Nonetheless, Perserque couldn’t bring herself to make that decision. “But still, we don’t have the right to dictate our son’s destiny as we please.”
Parents should guide their child toward happiness. To force it was wrong.
“So that’s the dilemma. But didn’t the goddess say she’d give another name if you wanted?”
“She did, but it doesn’t look so far like it’d be much different even with a new name.”
“This is hard. I just want him to grow, experience things, and decide his own future. Being bound to some great current of fate would be too cruel.”
Their opinions differed, and nothing was settled.
“At least we have until the full moon to think about it,” one of them said with relief.
“What does Davey want to do?”
“He hasn’t said anything, but he’s probably the most torn of us all.”
The entire mess came from Davey having divinity. If the boy wasn’t a child of divinity, his life would’ve been far simpler.
“I wish we had some clear sign to decide for us,” Illyna muttered as she shivered.
Suddenly, Perserque flinched. “Hm?”
“What is it, Sister?”
Perserque’s eyes turned toward the window. “I... just felt the baby’s mana somewhere else.”
“Impossible. A newborn can’t activate mana.”
That sounded about as likely as an infant speaking full sentences. Still, Perserque knew her child’s mana better than anyone, and a strange sense of deja vu gnawed at her.
* * *
In a dim chamber, five figures in black robes stood as someone’s footsteps echoed closer.
“So, why have you come to us?”
“I want revenge,” a girl’s voice rang out, calm and unwavering. “My target is Davey O’Rowane.”
It felt like the air had turned chilly in an instant. Yet despite the bombshell-like statement, the robed figures didn’t so much as flinch.
“May we ask why?”
Facing the distorted, mechanical voices, the visitor answered firmly, “Because he’s annoying.”
With that, she threw off her enchanted robe, her voice clearing. Behind her, a massive divine beast wreathed in azure light and flame appeared before sitting down.
It was none other than Kouna!
Face twisted in annoyance, she strode forward and flipped on a nearby switch on the wall. The chamber instantly filled up with light.
“What’s the point of sitting in the dark? You’ll ruin your eyes like this, dumbasses.”
That one sentence shattered the mood. The now-lit chamber revealed the robed figures, who exchanged glances before pulling back their hoods.
First was Yuria Helishana, head of the Gourmet Research Society. One by one, the others revealed themselves. They were none other than Rinne, Marky, and finally the territory’s Development Society pair, Aeonitia and Tiara.
For a long moment, none of them talked. Then the two societies’ members both smiled meaningfully at Kouna.
“Can we hear the details?” Yuria asked.
Kouna dragged a chair over, sat down, and sighed. “Don’t you think he’s just too much?”
She spilled everything. If he wasn’t going to leave her any chance, he should’ve drawn a firm line. Instead, he played with her, making her suffer as if he was some psychopath that enjoyed such things.
As they kept listening to her complaints, Rinne suddenly spoke up, “Rinne evaluates her assessment very highly!”
Everyone instantly turned her way.
The others couldn’t help but think how unbelievable it was for his guard to be praising such statements, but it seemed she didn’t care.
“I know it’s dumb that I fell for him, but isn’t this just unfair?” For Kouna, who rarely showed emotion, to come there and vent made it clear how deeply she had been hurt.
Still, with the exception of Rinne, the others all looked hesitant.
“But we’re all only here thanks to him! Are you asking us to stab him in the back?”
“I just want to give him back what he deserves.”
Of course, the method was still up for debate.
“Even so...” Yuria murmured, conflicted.
Marky cut in with the final blow, “You remember how close we came to losing everything over that World Tree Sapling, right? One more wrong move, and he might actually snap us in half. We won't even have anything to say about that.”
Annoying as he was, their lives were also important.
The mood tilted toward rejection until Kouna spoke again, “So, are you in or out?”
At that, everyone shot to their feet.
“How could we not?!”
“I still remember him scrapping my last project plan.”
“I never forgot how he rejected our project because it looked boring.”
“We must get revenge!”
It was hard to tell if they were the same people who’d just feared his wrath mere moments before.
Then Marky threw cold water on their fire. “And what if we get caught again? You’ll get to see him furious and enjoy the full treatment, while both our societies go up in flames. Still think it’s worth it?”
The blazing eyes all turned to her. The two smart girls from the Development Society surely knew what she was talking about.
After some silent mouthing, they gave their answer.
Jeomsuni sighed and stood. “Let’s do it.”
So, in that instant, the anti-Davey Alliance was born.
Though each had very different motives burning inside.
