Chapter 19 - Treatment

Ji En was wheeled into the operating room, and Ji Aier stood outside, waiting anxiously.

Cheng Zongyi and Tang Jun rushed over soon. It was Ji En who had called them. Presumably, Ji Aier couldn't handle the situation on her own. So when she saw them, she felt as if she had seen her saviors.

"How is Ji En?" Cheng Zongyi asked Ji Aier.

"He was shot in the left arm. I don't know if it's serious," Ji Aier suddenly thought that Ji En might become disabled in his left hand because of this. If so, she would be unforgivable!

"Shot?" Tang Jun found it hard to accept this reason.

"We went to the shooting club to play shooting. I don't know why the gun suddenly didn't fire properly, and then it hit Ji En's arm," Ji Aier briefly recounted the whole incident. Just thinking about what had happened earlier made her feel scared.

"I'm going to the dean's office," Cheng Zongyi said to them and then walked towards the elevator. Ji Aier didn't know why he was going to see the dean. Many years later, she learned that this hospital was under the banner of Cheng Zongyi's family business. Cheng Zongyi's background was more prominent than she could have imagined, but he had always been very low - key and unassuming. Presumably, only the three of them, who were good friends, knew each other's situations clearly.

Tang Jun and Ji Aier continued to wait outside the operating room, and Cheng Zongyi soon came back.

An hour later, the light in the operating room went off. Ji En actually walked out, instead of being wheeled out on a hospital bed by a nurse as she had imagined.

"Are you okay?" Ji Aier hurried forward and asked him. She felt that because of today's incident, her lifespan would be shortened by at least three to five years.

"I told you I wouldn't die! And you were crying so disgustingly," Ji En still didn't have a kind word to say at this moment. His words were as mean as ever. But Ji Aier didn't take it to heart at all this time because his injury today was caused by her, and she could only atone for her fault.

"It seems there's not much of a problem," Cheng Zongyi and Tang Jun exchanged a smile and said.

"Let me take a shot to test it out," Ji En said to them. "It's all taken care of, right? I can leave now."

"Yes, but the hospital will assign a private nurse to you," Cheng Zongyi said.

"A nurse? No need. She's enough. Just make sure the doctor comes to change my dressing," Ji En actually pointed at Ji Aier and said.

She wasn't a nurse, and besides, she didn't know anything. How could she be his nurse? Ji Aier thought to herself.

"It's better to have a nurse. You have a gunshot wound, not an ordinary one. There might be a risk of wound infection," Tang Jun said. He had become another savior for Ji Aier!

"No need. You're my buddy. Don't you know me?" Ji En patted Tang Jun on the shoulder, then said goodbye to them and pulled Ji Aier towards the elevator. His right hand was still intact, so the force with which he pulled Ji Aier was still far from gentle.

"Are you sure it's safe like this?" In the elevator, Ji Aier asked Ji En. Although she had asked the doctor about some precautions earlier, she still wasn't at ease. Why didn't he take his own body seriously? What if the wound really got infected?

"As long as you don't cause trouble, I'll be safe," Ji En stared at Ji Aier and said.

These words made Ji Aier feel extremely embarrassed. Ji En had indeed had many incidents from childhood to adulthood, and most of them were because of her mistakes. He had a scar on his thigh, which was also caused by her accidentally spilling boiling soup on it. At that time, he had been unable to move freely for nearly a month, and she had become the target of his venting. He would take his anger out on her at every opportunity. And this time, there would surely be another scar on his arm, which was also caused by her. So she had nothing to say.
