The Lycan king-Chapter 117
I heard voices from the other side of the wall. I tried so hard to feel around for a door but there was only so little movement I could make.
I wondered where Jax was and what he was up to. I don’t know if there was a way for us to communicate as I didn’t know what the time was or what he was doing.
The voice came closer and my heart pounded furiously in my chest. A wall suddenly opened and I squinted my eyes at the influx of the bright light.
"Oh Leonora." I heard and my ears perked up. I forcefully opened my eyes to stare at the culprit. The person who had me tied up. "I thought you were smart but you are just a love deprived fool." It was Luke. He was peering down at me with a look of disdain and satisfaction. "Did you really think I wouldn’t come back for you? You stabbed me!"
"Please let me go. I’ll do whatever you want." I begged. All I knew was that I needed to secure my self and my child.
"You mated with that monster." He pointed out as he took steps closer to me. "You’ve been gone for a few hours and nobody noticed. Not even your stupid mate."
"Please, he’s training. I can get him to stop. I can tell him to back down. Please just let me go." I begged as he walked closer. He squared in front of me and I shifted away from him. He inched closer not wanting to put any form of space between us.
"I’m not going after Jax now. You were my first target." He said as he grabbed my face and pulled me closer. "I used to like you. I would watch you when you bathed at the stream. It was like you wanted me to see you." He said as he placed his lips at the corner of my mouth. I struggled to move away but he squeezed my face tighter. I wanted to scream but I was scared of what he would do to me.
"Then you gave yourself up to that devil." He mumbled against my mouth as his tongues darted out and swiped the bottom of my lips. I turned my face away in disgust but he held me tight. "I’m going to take what I’m owed but first, we would have to move from this location. I know you will use your mate bond to call him here."
When he said that, I knew we were still in the pack but I didn’t know exactly where we were. I thought back to everywhere that could be pitch black and almost sound proof. I hadn’t been here before.
"Luke please." I begged. I felt a little flutter in my belly and I gasped and looked down. "Luke please. I have a baby. I can’t do this now. Please. Please. I won’t tell Jax anything." He looked down at my belly then scoffed before standing up and walking towards the opening.
"If you weren’t pregnant for that bastard, I would have reconsidered but you are. That child will have claim to the throne." He said and paused for a brief moment. "We could have been a power couple. You and I taking over the packs in this territory but you’re just fucking weak."
I heard footsteps walking closer to us. I strained my body so that I could see who it was. Claire came into view and I gasped silently. She immediately latched on to Luke and they kissed for what seemed like eternity.
So many questions ran through my mind. I didn’t know what they had been up to. It suddenly dawned on me that Claire was the spy. It now made sense why she wore that white dress. She knew they would have to kick her out of the wedding and it would have been a good enough excuse to leave.
I wish I could tell Jax and Bethany what was going on but there was nothing I could do. My hands and feet’s were tied, literally.
"I missed you." Claire said immediately they pulled away. "The guys are in the forest for a camping trip. I have set up everything. Just give me the go ahead and my guys will start."
"Claire." I called out, shock was laced in my tone and she turned to me. "It’s you."
She giggled. "I actually thought you were smart, Leonora." She said as she walked into the small space. "I gave you hints and everything. I wanted you to catch me but you’re so self centered to even notice."
"Why would you do this to Jax?" I asked. This wasn’t about me, it was about Jax. Hurting me was like hurting Jax.
"I’m not doing anything to him, you are." She said. "Don’t worry, when you’re gone, I’ll take care of your baby as if it were mine. It should have been mine." She said as she walked back out. She motioned to Luke to lock the door and I screamed. I could hear their laughter from the other side and it made me feel worse than I already did.
My mind went back to my conversations with Claire and nothing really stood out. I wish there was a way I could read their mind but I was hopeless and bound.
"Jax." I called out but no response. Jax valued his privacy more than anything in this world and see what it was causing us. "Jax, please find me." I called out and still nothing."
I screamed but nothing. It was like I was stuck in a box with no way out. I couldn’t see and all I had to do was rely on my ears.
I felt defeated.
Bethany*
My eyes fluttered open and I felt a slight headache. It had been so long since I had passed out like that before. I tried to remember what had happened but I didn’t have any previous memory. My mind was blank.
I looked around the room and noticed that it was totally empty but the door was ajar. I got a weird feeling that something was off. My heart frantically pounded in my chest and my head followed suit. It was like they were pounding to the same rhythm.
"Nora." I called but there was no answer. I forced myself to stand up and it felt like I had been hit by a truck. I stumbled from the bed and made my way to the bathroom. There was no one. All the lights were off and from what I could see it was starting to get dark.
"Leonora." I called out, panic slowly seeping into my system.
"Kale." I called but no answer. How did I know that name? It felt instinctive for me to call it and I wondered who Kale was and why I felt like calling out the name. Something was awfully wrong. Leonora would never leave her door open. It was like a silent rule that she had. I made my way over to my room but there was no one. In fact it seemed like the house was empty.
Something was wrong. I started searching from room to room and no one was in the building.
"Leonora." I screamed. How could I have lost my best friend. And to make things worse, she was pregnant. Jax would definitely freak out. Jax would kill me if anything had happened to Leonora. I just wanted to find her to know that everything was okay and there was nothing for me to be worried about.
I searched around the house but there was no one there. Devon had told me that the guys usually stayed in the main hall but no one was there. Where was everyone? Where was Devon? I was beginning to feel weird. My body chemistry was off and my movements were slow and choppy. I slowly made my way over to the staff quarters. I looked around to see if there were any signs of life but there was none. Everywhere was dark and there was an awful feeling in my gut.
Leonora was missing and it was my fault.
I found people in the staff quarters. They were mindlessly walking around or resting. This seemed so weird to me especially with the fact that the mansion was practically empty. I could feel stares around but I didn’t care. I made my way over to Shirley’s house and with my last strength, I banged on her door.
"Who is it?" I heard someone shout as I crumbled to the floor. My whole body was weak and I didn’t have the strength to keep carrying myself. This felt weird to me. I tried to rack my brain as to what had happened earlier that made me pass out but everything was frazzled.
The door opened and I looked up to meet concerned eyes staring back at me. "Honey, you might want to come out." He said back as he stepped out and lifted me off the ground. As he took me inside, Shirley rushed over to me and assisted her mate with setting me on the couch.
"What happened to you?" She asked. She picked up a small torch light from the center table and pointed them at my eyes. I tried looking away and covering my eyes but I was too weak to lift my arms and she held my eyes open. "You were drugged." She announced as she got up from the couch. I slowly fell until half of my body was laying on the couch
