The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad-Chapter 542: Unfortunately, He’s a Scumbag Who Abandoned His Wife and Daughter
Vivian’s heart softened. She reached out and hugged him, leaving a kiss on his cheek.
She was really grateful that she married Jude Shaw. Although he didn’t love her, all of his tenderness was given to her, his wife in name. Except for love, she had everything, and she was very content.
"I’m going out for a bit. I’ve already prepared dinner. You can eat by yourself."
Jude Shaw nodded, patted her head, and smiled slightly.
Vivian went upstairs, packed up simply, and then left for the agreed location.
After sitting down, she immediately spotted the man sitting across from her mother. He still looked decent on the surface, but unfortunately, he was a scumbag who abandoned his wife and daughter.
"Vivian, you’re here. Come and have a look at your father. Before, you’ve only seen his photos; you probably didn’t expect him to be so handsome in person, did you?"
Faye Holloway’s face showed some pride, seemingly forgetting the pain Gabriel Jacobs had caused her.
It seemed Gabriel Jacobs was quite the smooth talker, quickly charming Faye Holloway into losing her bearings.
Vivian sat down, her gaze calm.
"Mom, what are you talking about? My father died a long time ago. This is not my father. If I’m not mistaken, he must be here because of the Jacobs Family’s issue. The Jacobs Family owes eight hundred million in debt and wants to use me, the cheap daughter, to pay it off. Mr. Jacobs sure has calculated well."
Vivian spoke harshly, blocking all of Gabriel’s words in his mouth. Only then did he realize that this daughter was not easy to deal with.
"Vivian! What are you saying?!"
Faye got a little angry. She always hoped the family would be complete, and now that Gabriel was willing to come back to her, it proved her wish was half-fulfilled.
"Am I wrong? Didn’t Mr. Jacobs come looking for me because of the Jacobs Family’s debts? It seems I misunderstood you. Then tell me, after abandoning us for decades, what are you suddenly here for?"
She didn’t give Gabriel a chance to speak, and her words were sharp.
Faye sat on the side, with an awkward smile, looking at Gabriel embarrassedly.
"My daughter has been studying away from home for years. It’s my fault for not teaching her well, Gabriel. Please, don’t get angry."
She spoke cautiously, her eyes full of timidity.
Vivian frowned. She didn’t like her mother’s character, tying her entire life to one man, with no thoughts of her own.
Gabriel’s face paused, unhappy with what Vivian said, but he understood that this matter relied on Vivian to be resolved.
"Vivian, it’s my fault for not reaching out to you all these years. The Jacobs Family business indeed ran into issues. I didn’t want to burden you, and Mae Summers didn’t want to divorce me. She’s been keeping me tied up, which is why I didn’t have the chance."
He spoke with sincere emotion, and Faye quickly believed him, even cursing Mae Summers, forgetting that Mae Summers was Gabriel’s legitimate wife. When she and Gabriel were together, she was just the other woman.
Vivian didn’t believe any of it, silently stirring the coffee in her cup.
Seeing her unmoved, Gabriel grew anxious. This matter had to succeed, and only Vivian could save the Jacobs Family.
"Do you have anything else to say to me? If you’re here because you still have feelings for my mom, then you two should be together. As you can see, I’m already married. As the saying goes, a married daughter is like water thrown out."
Vivian made a gesture to stand up, clearly lacking the patience to keep tangled in this matter.
Gabriel got anxious and immediately spoke up.
"The Jacobs Family company owes eight hundred million. If we don’t pay it, there will be retaliation against the Jacobs Family. Your sister Yvette Jacobs has already been threatened for her personal safety. Vivian, you’re a good girl; you’ll definitely help me, right?"
He finally uttered these words, eyes filled with hope.
Before Vivian could respond, Faye nervously grabbed Gabriel’s hand, "How could we owe so much money? What happens if we don’t pay? Vivian, please help your father. I’ve finally met him again; I don’t want anything to happen to him."
Vivian had already known her mother was unreliable. If she and Gabriel were drowning, she knew her mother would unhesitatingly save Gabriel, not even considering it. Raising her was also entirely because she loved that man.
Gabriel noticed Faye’s words and flashed a trace of smugness. This foolish woman better stay foolish, so he could achieve his goal!
"Impossible. I won’t join in harming my husband. This is non-negotiable. If you have the skill, pay back the money yourselves. I’ve never enjoyed the glory of the Jacobs Family as an illegitimate daughter, so why should I bear this for you?"
"Pa!"
Faye raised her hand and slapped Vivian’s face, filled with disappointment!
"You’ve married into a wealthy family; Jude has so much money. Eight hundred million means nothing to you. Vivian, you must help your father, or consider me as no longer having you as a daughter!"
Vivian held her face, turning to look at this woman.
The woman’s face showed no reluctance, only staring at her just like that.
Vivian curled her lips, having no mood to stay here any longer.
"Then consider me as not your daughter. Now your beloved man has come looking for you; you can both fly together happily, without caring about me."
Gabriel, seeing Faye lash out, got scared and stood up. He still needed this daughter; he couldn’t let their relationship deteriorate further.
"Faye, what are you doing? No matter what, you can’t raise your hand."
Faye was startled by his words, fearfully withdrawing her hand.
"Gabriel, I didn’t mean it. I was just too angry. She wouldn’t help, and after all these years, our bond as mother and daughter doesn’t seem more important than a man."
Vivian mockingly curled her lips. She wanted to throw this line back at her mother, but now saying more was meaningless. This woman would never realize her mistake.
Gabriel lowered himself, pulling on Vivian to sit down, but she shrugged off his hand.
"Don’t play fake in front of me. I’m not my mom, easily fooled by your few sweet words."
Gabriel’s expression turned a bit difficult. No matter what, he was the elder here. Is this how you speak to an elder?
"Vivian!!"
Faye started calling her by her full name, clearly dissatisfied with her performance today.
Vivian curved her lips, pulling several hundred-dollar bills from her bag and placing them on the table.
"This coffee is on me. There won’t be such a chance in the future. Next time you look for me, I won’t come out."
"Vivian!"
Faye called after her, but Vivian didn’t turn back.
