The Lady’s Sickly Husband-Chapter 200: Tell Him Everything
Chapter 200: Tell Him Everything Translator: Antonia
Later on that day, butler Mo brought over two nannies and girls who looked unfamiliar.
They were servants that Ning Shaoqing had promised to send her, helping with guarding the courtyard. He still didn’t know the token yet, but he did sense the threats looming around her.
Worrying about her, he felt she lack people, so he strongly demanded that later, wherever she went, Chuyi, Shiwu and nanny Mo must follow along.
Now, with Yuxuan and the teams of warriors from Heimu and Ruoshui, the mansion was relatively safe, although it was still under watch.
As long as the three so-called cousins didn’t make trouble, she could temporarily bear with them until father’s one-year anniversary of decease.
The early summer night was dotted with the sound of cicada, but it seemed quieter.
The night sky was in dark blue and deep, with a round bright moon hanging up high in the middle, whose sparkling light slanted into Snow’s rooms and created, together with the burning incense, a cloudy setting of a fairyland.
However, Mo Qianxue, lying on the couch, didn’t feel relaxed.
She was waiting for Ning Shaoqing.
He had said that he would come to see her. Now she ordered all others out, and only Ghost was on guard outside the yard.
Ning Shaoqing told her that Ghost had sharp ears that could hear all the sound within one hundred meters around when it was quiet.
The token mattered so much, and since her current enemy was the Emperor, the Prince Zhennan, and the entire imperial family, she must tell Ning Shaoqing and work out a perfect plan.
She didn’t want to cause him trouble, but she simply couldn’t swallow the rage and even couldn’t let Heimu and Ruoshui down.
It turned out that accepting this token meant receiving a responsibility as well as power.
Ning Shaoqing flashed in through the window, the dark-blue thin gown fluttering in the night wind.
The milky moonlight passed through leaves and flowers in the yard to land on his gentle handsome face and light up his gown. The inky hair hung over his shoulders like a waterfall. A really gorgeous man.
Seeing him, Mo Qianxue immediately hugged him. She had never been more anxious than she was today and never more desperate to meet him…
Ning Shaoqing found it unusual but, feeling the flowing warmth in his heart, still tightened his arms to lock her inside.
However, they didn’t know that just as Ning Shaoqing stepped into Snow, the Emperor was secretly meeting with master Mo.
“What’s the matter? You miss me so much after only a day? …” Ning Shaoqing embraced Mo Qianxue and sat on the couch.
There was undisguised joy at the corners of his eyes which, against the clear moonlight, were as deep as a valley or lake, as if the person in his arms was the most precious, cherished, fragile treasure.
Feeling the family smell on him and the warmth and power of his hug, Mo Qianxue’s inexplicable resentment and sadness became an ice cube floating in the river in Spring that melt away bit by bit.
She missed him. But hearing Ning Shaoqing’s tease, Mo Qianxue was a little awkward.
She snorted, looked up like a child, “You blame me? How many times have you come to see me since I arrived in the capital? Every time, you left in a hurry.”
Saying that, she twisted, trying to get out of his arms.
In fact, Mo Qianxue didn’t blame him, but he thought she was accusing him of ignoring her. He said sorry, sighed, and hugged her harder. Mo Qianxue certainly couldn’t make it out.
In the few days since she was in the capital, he really hadn’t spent a day to accompany her.
His eyes darkening again, Ning Shaoqing forced a smile, “After the Mid-Autumn, we’ll hold the wedding. After that, we’ll spend every day together and never part again…”
His voice was low, like sleep-talking.
Hearing that, Mo Qianxue was in a complex mood, as if two little guys were fighting in her heart.
She thought of what Changmu had suggested, and the words on the tip of her tongue finally weren’t spoken out. This matter could be either huge or little. If she was broader-minded and cared only herself, regardless of others’ fate, then, she didn’t have that many concerns.
However, she couldn’t be that heartless.
She was living Xue’s life. Yet, she wasn’t a person yielding to fate either. Neither could she witness people with whom she had blood ties dead unjustly.
She noticed that since the moment she entered the capital, she was on this road already, unable to walk back. She must be Mrs. Ning. She must be Mo Qianxue. She had no other choice.
Even if she didn’t intend to stay at odds with the Emperor, the Emperor was elaborating a plan to put her to death even in his dream.
Xue was right. There were things that she would do anyway, even if she didn’t ask her to.
The enemy now was the Emperor, and she should be able to sit still. It seemed that she really had a bigger heart now.
He already had enough to deal with. She was afraid yesterday after he left, he had had to deal with the clan affairs and meanwhile face the reprimand from old master Ning and the elders for making a proposal abruptly before the Emperor. She didn’t want more burden on him.
However, …
Mo Qianxue was right. Yesterday, the first thing, after Ning Shaoqing returned to the mansion, he had faced was to be summoned in the meeting room by the elders, discussing on his marriage.
Originally, he had a fiancé, but due to his disappearance, the former fiancé surnamed Gui had married to his brother Ning Shaoyu. Of course, the elders didn’t know or care about the reason.
Ning Shaoqing newly took the position of master. For a time, they hadn’t selected a proper candid of Madam Ning yet, but they would allow him to marry a girl from a second-level family as wife.
Using both carrots and clubs and weighing over pros against cons, he finally managed to gain the consent of the elders, and then was summoned by his father…
Glancing at the confused expression on her face, Ning Shaoqing rubbed her hair and laughed, “I’m here for you. What do you fear of? Just tell me. No matter what, I’ll prop you up.”
His voice was gentle and autocratic, making him solemn and majestic at once. There was an air of a superior that was hard to be ignored.
The autocratic words also carried dense affection and pampering, melting to the quiet night, like a feather brushing on the tip of Mo Qianxue’s heart. The soft stroking made her more determined.
She looked up and blinked, seriously telling him about Changmu and Yuxuan. In fact, Ning Shaoqing knew about Changmu long ago. But as for the secret token, Ghost didn’t hear it because Changmu had kept a low voice.
Since he decided to marry Mo Qianxue, certainly he wouldn’t turn a deaf ear to the Founder mansion.
Shadow was the best expert in intelligence. After so many days, Ning Shaoqing naturally knew some of the real situation.
Seeing the token partly visible around her neck, even Ning Shaoqing, who was believed to be a well-informed man, was stunned!
The token mattered a lot, so he urged her to keep it well even after knowing its miracle.
This wasn’t a bad thing for Mo Qianxue. It was the cause of trouble, but also an amulet.
They must sort it out from the very beginning!
Eyes darkening, Ning Shaoqing frowned, “Don’t give yourself too much burden. Actually, although the Emperor is longing for your father’s military power, he doesn’t wish your father’s death so early. He’s a supporter of the imperial family and brings more benefit than harm to the Emperor. With him, the Emperor is more secured. He isn’t that stupid to kill your father. I’m afraid someone else far away from the power center did it and the Emperor had no choice but to take the blame.”
“You mean…?”
“There are many suspicious points in this matter, so don’t act recklessly. Of course, the Emperor wants the token. Be alerted.”
Mo Qianxue thought it again and believed Ning Shaoqing’s words made sense.
Just cope with whatever would come at her. It was no use to overthink.
Nevertheless, she wouldn’t forgive that Prince Zhennan who directly resulted in father’s death.
It was hard for them to meet once, so it’d be better to leave behind these unhappy things. Therefore, Mo Qianxue shifted the subject and smiled, “I told you the other day that I became the acquired daughter of Mrs. Jia. Do you think I need to visit her for an official ceremony?”
There was a slight disapproval in Ning Shaoqing’s eyes. He used the other hand to fiddle her wrist, “Unnecessary, because you’ve recognized her. Just visit her more in the future. I don’t see a need to hold a ceremony.”
She would be Madam Ning in the future. How could she randomly curtsy to others?
Nevertheless, that being said, he would take more care of Mr. Jia in the future.
Thinking of this, Ning Shaoqing sounded somewhat guilty, “It’s my fault I didn’t arrange it in advance so that you suffered…”
In fact, Mo Qianxue had never blamed it on Ning Shaoqing, even if the thought of that incident made her unhappy.
But Ning Shaoqing didn’t know what was in her mind. Seeing here sullen face, he frowned and promised, “Don’t worry. I won’t let those people have a good time either.”
Mo Qianxue caressed his face, unwilling to drag him into the filthy feuds between women, and joked, “Just leave them to me. I’m quite boring in the capital. It’s fun to play with them.”
Just a bunch of stupid rats. She could fix it!
Ning Shaoqing understood it, reaching out and wrapping her hand in his palm.
An enchanting curve surfaced on his lips, and tenderness burst out of his eyes, “Alright, I’ll leave them to you for fun…”
He was gorgeous, especially when he looked at her intently and when there was a smile on his face that couldn’t be concealed. The couple thought for each other all the time. Hence, by this loving gaze, in the milky moonlight, the lovesickness between them finally erupted.
Ning Shaoqing took her into his arms, covering her lips with his. All the senses were focused on the small piece of lips, and everything else ceased to exist.
Only these lips were the place where he wanted to dwell.
The moon was hazy, and the earth silent.
Everything in the nature seemed to support the intimacy of the couple, until there were inharmonious cries of cuckoo.
