The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss-Chapter 829: Dreams Always Go the Opposite Way (2)
At the gate of the courtyard, a crowd of servants huddled together, bustling around.
Aju frowned and scolded, "What are you all standing around here for? Move along, get back to your work."
The servants turned around, and upon seeing the old Madam Jiang approaching, quickly dispersed.
"Jiang Hai, didn’t you hear me? Open the door quickly."
The old Madam Jiang walked into the courtyard, hearing Veya’s voice from a distance.
She hurried a few steps closer and saw Veya locked at the door, feeling a premonition of something bad.
"Veya, what happened?"
"Mom, Ahai enforced the family law, if it continues, Asheng will be beaten to death." Veya said anxiously.
The old Madam Jiang was shocked to her core, stepped forward and pounded on the door, commanding, "Ahai, open the door for me. If anything happens to Asheng, I won’t spare you."
There was still no response from inside, the soundproofing was too good, and the old Madam Jiang didn’t know what was happening inside, making her eyes red with urgency, "Aju, go get the key."
"Yes."
Aju turned to fetch the key, while the old Madam Jiang looked at Veya, inquiring about the situation, "What happened, why did Ahai suddenly get so angry?"
These past two days, Asheng had been obediently staying at home, causing no trouble, why did the father and son start quarreling?
"I don’t know either, when I went to the study to find them, I saw Asheng kneeling on the ground, and then they both went to the ancestral hall. I asked Ahai, he wouldn’t say anything, it’s seriously worrying." Veya said with a choking voice.
"Asheng’s back is bleeding, his frail body can’t withstand such a beating."
Bleeding?
The old Madam Jiang’s face showed panic, it was that severe.
"I’ve got the key." Aju ran back, and Veya urgently took the key to unlock the door.
"Jiang Yisheng, do you really want to drive me to death?"
The scolding voice filled with rage was fierce and harsh, the usually gentle and refined person was terrifying when furious.
Even Veya and her company were frightened.
As the disciplinary ruler was about to strike again, the old Madam Jiang realized, urgently shouting, "Stop."
The bloodstained disciplinary ruler halted in the air, Jiang Hai barely restraining himself.
Veya breathed a sigh of relief, looking at the kneeling figure on the ground, the bloodstains were painful to her heart.
"Asheng."
She rushed to his side, her outstretched hand trembling uncontrollably.
"And you say nothing’s wrong, does this look like nothing?"
As she spoke, tears fell from her eyes.
Jiang Yisheng raised his hand to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth, forcing a pale smile, "Mom, don’t cry, I’m really okay, just a skin injury, cough cough..."
"Skin injury? Look at your back, it’s all blood." Veya supported him, her voice tinged with sobs.
The old Madam Jiang looked at the weak Jiang Yisheng, her face full of disbelief, never had she thought Jiang Hai could lay such a heavy hand.
"Aju, quickly find a doctor."
Aju snapped back to reality, solemnly running out.
The old Madam Jiang turned to Jiang Hai, snatching away the ruler from his hand, angrily saying, "Jiang Hai, have you lost your mind, is this how you use the disciplinary ruler, look what you’ve done to him, are you trying to kill him?"
Jiang Hai lowered his gaze, saying firmly, "Mom, you all stay out of this, I have my reasons."
He’s his son, how could he not feel pain, but he had no choice but to do this, he had to.
"Reasons?" The old Madam Jiang, furious to the point of headache, pointed the ruler at him, "Fine, I’d like to hear what reasons could justify beating him like this, speak."
Jiang Hai turned his head aside, glimpsing Jiang Yisheng’s feeble state in the corner of his eye, a trace of unwillingness to be cruel flashed in his eyes.
He stepped forward, walking out without looking back.
"Ahai." The old Madam Jiang was confused, calling after his departing figure.
Having endured until now was already the limit, Jiang Yisheng’s eyelids uncontrollably closed, his body weakened, and he fell onto Veya.
"Asheng, don’t scare Mom, what’s happening to you?" Veya patted his face, calling anxiously.
"Someone, carry the young master back to his room." The old Madam Jiang looked outside the door, raising her voice to call.
...
By evening, the streetlights on the island lit up, emitting gentle light.
The man lay on the sofa, his long legs had nowhere to rest, so they hung down loosely on the ground.
The soft light poured over his face, his sword-like eyebrows slightly furrowed, seeming to sleep restlessly.
Ji Mingqian suddenly sat up, a light sweat on his forehead.
He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, a trace of lingering unease flickered in his eyes.
Damn it.
How did he have such an ominous dream.
Dreams are opposites, it won’t come true, it won’t.
Laughter came from outside, Ji Mingqian looked up towards the door, Ye Jiuliang and Li Mochan returned from their walk.
"I thought you were still sleeping, what’s with that expression, did you have a nightmare?" Ye Jiuliang said, amused, seeing him awake.
"I dreamed he got hurt." Saying this, Ji Mingqian poured a glass of water, finishing it in one gulp.
Li Mochan and Ye Jiuliang exchanged a glance, they didn’t need him to explain to know who he meant.
"Could it be you’re dreaming about what you think about during the day?" Ye Jiuliang teased.
In this place, it’s indeed hard to contact the outside, there’s no signal, getting through on the phone is all a matter of luck.
Ji Mingqian glared at her, putting down the glass, "Easy for you to say when it’s not you."
"Wanna play a game?" Ye Jiuliang walked over, tossing him a game controller.
Ji Mingqian caught it easily, absent-mindedly looking at the TV screen. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Thinking over and over, he turned to the woman choosing a game, "Ajiu, I’ve been here a day, how about we head back?"
For some reason, he felt that dream was especially real, he wouldn’t be at ease until he saw him in person.
Ye Jiuliang put down the remote, tilting her head to look at him, "We agreed on two days, and you’re restless already?"
"Then how about this, I’ll head back first, you all come back a day later." Ji Mingqian put down the game controller, standing up abruptly.
Ye Jiuliang smiled helplessly, compromising, "It takes a day to get back from here, how will you go back at night, just wait, we’ll go back together first thing tomorrow morning, alright?"
Ji Mingqian sat back on the sofa, sullenly saying, "You said it, don’t go back on your word."
Ye Jiuliang replied carelessly, "Got it."
Playing a game alone was no fun, Ye Jiuliang tossed down the game controller and walked to the kitchen.
Inside, Li Mochan was cutting vegetables, hearing footsteps, he didn’t need to look up to guess who had come in.
"Coming in for a snack?"
Ye Jiuliang smiled, "Can’t I come in to help?"
"Then we might not eat tonight." Li Mochan put down the knife, lifting the pot lid, "Wanna taste the soup?"
Ye Jiuliang’s eyes lit up, stepping quickly to his side.
