The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss-Chapter 810: Clearly a Henpecked Husband (1)
"Can’t sleep, so you’re sneaking around outside?" Hearing the gentle voice by his ear, the weariness between Li Mochan’s brows gradually faded, and a low, deep laughter escaped his lips.
"Wolf pup, don’t forget what you promised me."
Ye Jiuliang’s eyes flickered with a touch of unease, silently thinking, How could he guess her whereabouts even when he’s not by her side? Truly a cunning guy.
"Got it, I’m just out for a late-night snack with Anuo. If you don’t believe me, I can have her vouch for it."
Innocently dragged into the situation, Gu Xinuo looked all innocent.
Getting hit even while lying down?
"Take good care of yourself. I’ll finish up my work as soon as possible and come pick you up." Li Mochan advised with concern.
Ye Jiuliang smiled softly, glancing at her wristwatch. It should be almost ten on his side now, "You’re still at the office?"
"Almost heading back," Li Mochan said over the phone as he reached to shut down his computer.
She really did guess it right. Ye Jiuliang frowned, "It’s so late, why haven’t you gone back to the hotel to rest? Don’t tell me you haven’t had dinner yet?"
He just tells her to take care, yet doesn’t take care of himself, such double standards.
"I have eaten," Li Mochan said with no change in expression.
Opposite, Wei Xi glanced at the barely touched meal on the table, his lips slightly twitching.
Does taking one bite count as eating?
Their boss is clearly henpecked.
"I don’t believe you. I’ll ask someone else. If you’re lying, you’re done for." Ye Jiuliang looked at the street scene outside the window, her lips curving into a charming smile.
By someone else, Li Mochan didn’t need to guess to know it’s Wei Xi. He raised an eyebrow and teased, "Why don’t you buy a scale and weigh me when I get back?"
Ye Jiuliang chuckled, feigning a fierce tone, "That’s a good idea. I’ll buy it tomorrow. You better head back to the hotel to rest. I’ll be checking up with a call later. If you’re still at the office, I’ll fly over and hit you."
Hearing this, Li Mochan chuckled lightly. Would she really be willing to hit him?
He got up, picked up the coat from the sofa chair, "I’m heading back now. Do you need me to video call you to show proof?"
"Of course, I already said I’d be checking up. Remember to video call me when you get to the hotel." Ye Jiuliang said dominantly.
Knowing this workaholic well, she knew he’d pile up work to rush back to her. It’s not like she met him just yesterday.
Li Mochan couldn’t help but laugh silently, agreeing with a "sure."
After hanging up, Ye Jiuliang tapped on her phone, sending an emoji over.
"If you miss him, you should just go see him. Your words are giving me goosebumps all over." Gu Xinuo glanced at her from the corner of her eye, teasing with a suppressed laugh.
Ye Jiuliang put away her phone, "I’ll go the day after tomorrow."
The design drawings at the base just got revised, and tomorrow they’d run experiments. If there aren’t any major issues, she’ll feel at ease leaving.
Gu Xinuo clicked her tongue, "I was just joking, do you really have to go? It’s like a day without seeing feels like three autumns?"
"Can’t let Achen see me every day and have that grief-stricken look. I won’t be a third wheel for you two." Ye Jiuliang said quietly.
Gu Xinuo’s face warmed, "What nonsense are you saying."
"Every time Achen sees you with me, he pulls a long face like a bullied little wife." As she spoke, Ye Jiuliang made a funny face, making Gu Xinuo laugh heartily.
"He doesn’t do that."
"He does, next time, watch closely if you don’t believe me." She said.
...
Jiang Yisheng hasn’t returned from filming, so the task of entertaining the Jiang family parents naturally fell on Ji Mingqian. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
After sending Veya and the others back to the hotel, Ji Mingqian didn’t rush off either; he stayed to chat with the Jiang family parents.
The three of them chatted merrily about all sorts of things.
"Mingqian, you’ve really helped us a lot this time. When Asheng returns, we’ll go out to eat, my treat." Jiang Hai said warmly.
Ji Mingqian put down his teacup, smiling lightly, "That’s not right. I should be the one treating. Uncle, if you treat, I’ll be too embarrassed to stay at your house next time I visit M Country."
"There’s no need to be shy. You, Asheng, and Xiaojiu are all good friends. Just treat it as your own home and don’t hold back." Having rested well after taking medication, Veya’s complexion was rosy again.
Ji Mingqian smoothly continued, "Auntie said not to hold back, so Uncle, don’t be polite with me either."
Jiang Hai chuckled softly, "Alright, I won’t argue with you then."
"Asheng should be back soon. I’ll go get something, and when Asheng returns, we’ll head out together." Ji Mingqian glanced at his phone, then rose to his feet.
Veya nodded, "Okay."
Just as he exited the room, the elevator doors a short distance away opened.
A tall, lean figure stepped out, hat brimming down and wearing a mask, concealing the face.
Ji Mingqian paused, a twinkle of a smile appearing in his eyes, waiting for him.
"Where are my parents?" Seeing him, Jiang Yisheng’s eyebrows unintentionally arched up as he reached to remove the mask from his face.
Ji Mingqian pointed to the room behind him, "Waiting for you to join us for dinner. How did the filming go?"
"Alright," Jiang Yisheng said, removing his hat. His slightly damp hair clung messily, lending an unexpected touch of casualness.
"The filming schedule is going smoothly. We should finish the day after tomorrow."
Ji Mingqian noticed his dark hair, casually asking, "Did you dye your hair?"
Jiang Yisheng responded with a nod, brushing the fringe from his forehead, "I’ll dye it back once the filming is over."
"Why’s your hair still wet?" Ji Mingqian reached up to ruffle his head, his eyebrows knitting involuntarily.
"Wasn’t the makeup artist around?"
"No, I rushed back. Took a quick freshen-up after filming and came straight away."
Ji Mingqian’s thin lips quirked up, his nonchalant smile tinged with dandy charm, "In a rush to see me?"
"You’re thinking too much," Jiang Yisheng scoffed, reaching to knock on the door.
Before he could touch the door, he was abruptly pulled over by the person beside him.
Thrown off balance, his nose collided against the other’s solid shoulder.
For a moment, Jiang Yisheng felt like his nasal bone was about to shatter.
Clutching his nose, his green eyes narrowed, shimmering with water, "Ji Mingqian, you’re toxic!"
Luckily his nose wasn’t surgically altered, or it would’ve snapped.
"I really didn’t mean to," Ji Mingqian grinned apologetically, "Shall I take you to the hospital?"
"Get lost," Jiang Yisheng sniffled, retorting with irritation.
Speaking, he was tugged for what reason?
He lowered his hand, the tip of his nose faintly red, causing Ji Mingqian to feel guilty for a few seconds, "Don’t be mad. I’ll buy you candied hawthorn as an apology. How about it?"
Jiang Yisheng kept silent, glancing at him fiercely, as if to say he’s not some three-year-old that’s easily coaxed.
"No..."
Just as he began to speak, Veya’s room door suddenly opened.
"Asheng, you’re back?" Jiang Hai’s voice unexpectedly rang out.
Jiang Yisheng straightened his expression, discreetly increasing the distance between him and Ji Mingqian.
