THE Knight's Hidden Princess-Chapter 210: Moment Of Truth
Killian and I immediately ran forward to inspect what the issue might be. I got to see that a lot of people were already gathered at the entrance of the ship. The sound of voices rising in confusion and arguments filled the air. I could make out a bunch of familiar faces and among them. I could make out Branderson who was leaning against a wooden post, dressed in a dark tunic and a brown colored knitted scarf wrapped around him.
His brows were furrowed as he stared ahead with a look of concentration on his face. I pushed through the bodies and made my way towards Branderson who looked up the moment he saw me approaching.
He straightened immediately. "Good thing you are here, I was just contemplating on whether or not I should send for you?"
"What’s going on?" Killian demanded as he stared at the crowd when all of a sudden another shout broke out.
"And just who the hell are you to determine that you are going to stay with house Hawthorne?" A feminine voice cried out at the top of her long, "You heard when he said you could accept no less than one hundred and as it is they already have a hundred and twenty, no one else is joining."
"And who is the dimwit who put you in charge?" A pudgy woman with white dirty bonnet on her head pushed her way forward. Her hands were placed on her hips, legs spread wide apart her face flushed with rage. "You think just because the men find you beautiful they will welcome you with open arms? Don’t think we haven’t notice the way you’ve been frolicking with the guards just hoping one of them will get you to his house?"
The woman who shouted earlier scoffed in response. "Oh please, like you wouldn’t if you could? You are just pissed Lord Reagan turned your advances away, you were looking to gain favor by offering to warm his bed at night?"
Hold on what?
"Like you didn’t try to? In fact is there any woman who haven’t tried to gain the Lord’s favor right here? We are all desperate and desperate times call for desperate measures!"
"I’m sorry what?" I asked with a look of horror on my face.
Somewhere behind me I heard Killian and Branderson wince a little. I turned to look at them only to realize that everyone was already present. Reagan looked like he wanted the ground to open up and swallow him whole, Nikolai had a grin on his face but it was an awkward one. The kind that you wear when you are witnessing something that is way too crazy to put an end to but also too comical to stop.
Bjorn on the other hand was just Bjorn, neutral expression and a calculating look in his gaze.
"Who the fuck tried to climb into your bed?" I asked him.
"Oh hells." Killian muttered and judging from their expression they all knew.
"You all knew about it didn’t you?" I asked them with narrowed eyes and even Bjorn swallowed in fear.
Reagan cleared his throat. "You know nothing happened right? They are just desperate like they said?"
"Yeah and besides, you were practically avoiding him so everyone thought you all had a big fight. It was really messy and intense really." Nikolai spoke up causing me to turn my gaze towards him, "And besides we all know Reagan isn’t a bad looking fella, everyone wants a piece of him, ain’t that right mate?"
"I’m going to need you to shut the fuck up before you put me in more trouble, mate!" Reagan snarled the word to Nikolai who chuckled.
I gritted my teeth about to approach him when all of a sudden we heard another loud commotion.
At once, we all turned around to look at the source only to find a man stepping forward. "Everyone step back, and calm down. We all should let lady Dahlia and Lord Reagan decide, perhaps they can take pity on us all and just allow us in."
"They are right everyone!" A voice rang out from the crowd and we all turned to look at the owner.
Loraine stepped forward with a look of fierce determination on her face. "We can plead with them for their assistance. I’m sure they won’t be so quick to turn us away if we are to come together and plead with them to help us, like they did in getting us out of there."
Someone chuckled from the crowd, "I know you are not talking Loraine." A man stepped forward as he glared down at Loraine.
Behind me I could sense the way the men tensed, almost as if they would step in if the issue starts to escalate. But I know these people, they wouldn’t do that. At least that’s what I think because desperation makes people do lot of things.
"Out of everyone who gets to stay in Iravia, you think you deserve it?" The man asked a sneer on his face, "Or have you forgotten what you did."
It was my own turn to tense up and I wasn’t the only one. Branderson tensed up slightly behind me, as if he knew what was about to unfold. I stared at Loraine who had now gone ghastly pale and when her eyes darted around and landed on mine, I swear she became as white as a ghosts.
"What did she do?" Reagan suddenly spoke up stepping forward.
Shit! I cleared my throat and went to grab Reagan. "How about we just get off already, we can settle everything when we get back to the house."
Reagan didn’t seem to be listening, his eyes remained focused on the man as he walked towards the man. "What were you saying?"
"Well, we um..." The man looks uncomfortable now and for good reason because Reagan’s voice had gone cold.
"I won’t ask you again, spit it out!" He commanded.
The man stared at Loraine who looked like she might pass out any second before he stared back at Reagan. "She’s the reason the guards captured your wife. She gave up your wife in other to save herself, she’s sold lady Dahlia out to the guards even though she knew what they would do to her!"
Shit!
