The King's Enchanting-Chapter 1628 - 1641: Severing All Ties (Part 5)
As soon as Cheng Juye pulled out a chair, Yu Zexiao unceremoniously sat down and even pulled out the chair beside him for Jian Anning. The two of them sat down, and before Cheng Juye and Jian Panying could speak, he asked first, "What do you want us here for today?"
Cheng Juye’s heart filled with anger when he saw Yu Zexiao’s arrogant demeanor. He knew very well that, technically, Yu Zexiao was his junior, and he couldn’t just snap back at him.
The worst crisis for the Huanyu Group had already passed, and although all the cash was gone, a large number of shares had been consolidated. Once this period was over, they would presumably spread the shares back out and recover some money.
In short, the Yu Family was different from the Cheng Family. The Yu Family was a billion-dollar behemoth, while the Cheng Family—Situ Xuan could crush it with a flick of his finger if he wanted to.
He held back his anger and called the waiter, "What would you like?"
Yu Zexiao didn’t speak and just looked at Jian Anning, who casually said, "Just two glasses of water."
It was clear she didn’t want to say much.
Cheng Juye knew, of course, but just gave a bitter smile, feeling somewhat at a loss. It was Jian Panying who reacted, sitting down and asking, "Anning, are you alright this time?"
Jian Anning knew she was going to plead for Cheng Tingting and Cheng Wanli. So she promptly replied, "On the run all night, almost got killed, what do you think?"
Her words left Jian Panying speechless. She also knew that this time Cheng Tingting had gone too far, having someone kidnap Jian Anning, not only extorting a huge ransom but also bringing a gun and confronting the police. The actions were outrageous, leaving one at a loss for words. However, Cheng Tingting was, after all, their daughter, so Jian Panying thought for a moment and continued, "So, how are you feeling since you came back that day? Any discomfort?"
"No." Jian Anning’s response was rather cold. However, Yu Zexiao interjected, "How could there be none? You’re naturally cold-bodied, and that day you spent so long in the snow, running and being tied up. Even now, the marks are still on your body. They practically wanted you dead, putting you through such life-threatening situations in the Alps. Those bastards who kidnapped you deserve to go to hell!"
His words implicitly criticized Cheng Tingting and Cheng Wanli as well.
Jian Panying clearly heard it but said nothing, yet Cheng Juye couldn’t hold back and said, "But you’re fine now, aren’t you?"
Yu Zexiao sneered angrily at his words, "So, what you’re saying is, even if I beat you up, break your bones, and grievously harm you, as long as you don’t die and recover, it’s like nothing happened, right? Then what are the laws for!"
Jian Panying felt deeply ashamed. She might sympathize more with Cheng Tingting than Jian Anning, but if something really happened to Jian Anning, she would feel bad too.
However, while she was feeling ashamed, Cheng Juye couldn’t care less. His eyes reddened, "That’s not how it works. Tingting is Anning’s sister after all..."
"Since you know she’s her sister, first she steals her boyfriend, and now she straightforwardly hires someone to kidnap her. When that falls through, she grabs a gun and resorts to murder," Yu Zexiao sneered. "With such a ’good’ sister, Anning would be better off without one!"
