Rex was still hell-bent on getting rid of the Invincible Apparition.

He was perfectly fine without the Invincible Apparition all this time so he doesn't need it.

During the first time the Invincible Apparition took control, he did a lot of things that he wasn't proud of, and allowing that to happen for the second time… Rex wasn't sure. Instead of taking the risk—that might not give any result, it's better to avoid it.

But he couldn't exactly avoid the Invincible Apparition now and he understands the danger of it.

"If you're still stubborn, I'll take control by force!"

As soon as Rex heard that, his senses overridden the pain from the Gradual Penalty.

Rex snapped his head towards the Invincible Apparition and saw him vanish—in an instant from where he stood. Such a sight spooked him and without warning, his hand shot to his face. A painful throb stung his mind, causing him to grip his face tightly.

"Don't do this, you're not going to take control!" Rex yelped as he fell to his back.

A groan escaped from his lips.

He could feel it quite clearly, there was something knocking on the door to his consciousness.

Surely—It was the Invincible Apparition, and Rex fought back hard.

Fighting back another overwhelming presence inside his mind, he staggered through the glade, his own vision warping as his mind twisted under the onslaught. His own thoughts became a battlefield—as the Invincible Apparition clawed its way into control.

A sinister force that unraveled his grip on reality.

His breath hitched.

His body convulsed.

Completely detached from the world, Rex crashed into a tree, his fingers digging into the bark—as his muscles seized violently, "Raarggh!" A guttural groan tore from his throat, raw with defiance. "I'm not letting you take control!"

Crack!

Rex screamed as his spine arched unnaturally—veins bulging against his skin.

It was as if something inside him was trying to rip him apart.

Just then, everything snapped.

All of his struggles and screams disappeared in an instant.

Rex's head hung low and his body slumped in exhaustion but then, a wicked snarl—twisted his face, revealing rows of gleaming sharp gangs. However, the upper fangs weren't white anymore, it had turned into a deep, blood-red hue.

A change that added a tinge of primal to his appearance.

In the next second, he climbed back to his feet and his body surged with monstrous strength.

Before he could stop himself, his arm moved—faster than thought, faster than restraint.

Bam!!

Out of nowhere, he punched a thick tree trunk with an earth-shaking force.

Overwhelmed by his strength, wood splintered and the tree groaned.

And then, with a deafening crack, it toppled.

Crash!

Just as suddenly as it came, the presence withdrew.

Rex collapsed to one knee, panting, drenched in sweat as his upper fangs returned to their original color.

As he was recovering from the hostile takeover, the Invincible Apparition appeared again but this time, his expression was completely red and twisted, "Why are you fighting me?!" He shouted—eyes full of rage. "I'm on your side! Do you know what it felt like to be trapped?! To be awakened and stuck inside a stupid host that is still holding back?!"

In a motion of frustration, the Invincible Apparition tried punching the tree again.

But this time, his hand passed through—unable to interact with reality.

He was extremely frustrated by this.

"RARGHH!!" the Invincible Apparition shouted at the top of his lungs.

Even though he was completely filled with rage, without a body, he couldn't vent this rage.

All he could do was scream, hoping that the anger would subside a little but it didn't.

Screaming had no effect, he needed blood.

"Like I said, you're still nothing compared to me," Rex said through ragged gasps. "Only a fraction of myself that I already conquered and let go. And for that, you'll always be the one who will listen. As I said, no more bloodshed. Not after the Arcalen House, and you will listen"

Suddenly, the Invincible Apparition approached with rushed footsteps.

He squatted down to look directly into Rex's eyes and said, "Do you not know what we are? Have you not realized what we are? We are the contender fo Invincibility. Our path and demeanor must align with Invincibility. We are born to stand at the very top, to be looked up upon, to be Invincible!"

Abruptly standing up again, the Invincible Apparition pointed to the surroundings.

His gesture was a mockery of everything around them.

"None of these weaklings are a contender to Invincibility, they are nothing more than food for us, food to devour for our growth, food for our inevitable rise to the peak of existence. Don't you get it?" The Invincible Apparition stopped and turned around. "As long as there are no contenders of Invincibility—we are… Invincible"

Upon hearing that word, Rex could feel his heart skipped a beat.

It was the whole purpose of the System from merging with him, to making him Invincible under the moon, something that the System made clear at the very start. But the cause for his shock was that how in the world did the Invincible Apparition know about that?

How did he know that he was a contender for invincibility?

Considering that the Invincible Apparition was birthed from the past, he shouldn't know about this.

Just then, his focus returned to the Invincible Apparition again.

"Soon, you will realize that you need me…" the Invincible Apparition said before disappearing.

Rex remained unmoving, gazing at the empty spot where the Invincible Apparition stood.

His face was blank and his eyes were hollow, nobody could tell what was running through his mind.

In the next second, the questions swirled inside his mind.

Naturally, almost out of instinct, he tried asking the System but there was no response.

No notification asking to purchase the information.

Such an occurrence made the entire thing even worse, Rex fe;t uneasy about this.

For ten minutes straight, Rex remained unmoved.

Once he blinked after the long pause, he exhaled lightly and leaned over the shattered tree while gazing ahead in contemplation. He was looking at the crystal-clear pond water as if it were the most interesting thing in the world.

Being confronted like this by the Invincible Apparition churned his mind into a spiral.

Rex could not help but think that the Invincible Apparition was more than meets the eye.

Perhaps, the System has something to do with it.

Nevertheless, as the Invincible Apparition said earlier, Rex will soon realize the reason.

"Shit…" Rex leaned his head back, gazing at the moon above. "What the heck is happening?"

Early in the morning, Rex was woken up by Javier shaking his body.

He wasn't sleeping, he was deep in meditation so he didn't realize Javier was already beside him.

Not to mention, with the additional materials to ponder—from the Invincible Apparition, he was really out of it. It was almost dawn when he came back to the hut earlier, and now, barely an hour in, he was already disturbed.

"What's wrong?" Rex sat up, glancing to the hut's entrance, and found that it was still pale morning.

"Someone is here for you," Javier informed, pointing to his behind with his thumb. "He claimed to be from the Verdant Ivy Village. I don't know how he came to know you, but he knew. Do you want me to tell him to go away? He was panicking but that could've been an act,"

Pausing for a second, registering, Rex quickly shook his head, "No, no, I'll see him"

Noticing the talk, Linthia stood up abruptly.

"I'm coming with you," She said loud enough for Rex to stop and turn towards her.

Rex nodded and the three headed outside.

Instead of either Kody or Casey, he saw that the one searching for him was another villager.

His face was familiar, someone Rex saw a glimpse while sneaking into the village probably.

Seeing them approaching, the frail young man with sunken eyes instantly fixed on Rex, sensing that he must be the person in charge, "Are you the person who saved Casey?" He asked lightly, causing Javier to steal a glance at Rex. "I need your help—the village needs your help"

"What?" Rex inquired. "What happened?"

"It's Rakha, he came back to cause trouble again. Casey is dealing with it," the young man replied.

Upon hearing this, Rex frowned.

Although Casey and Kody had an Echo to integrate into their Spirit Genesis now, it'll take time.

A couple of days are not enough to even integrate their Echoes properly.

"Lead the way," Rex gestured forward. "I'll help"

Moments later, after a few minutes of sprinting, Rex and the others finally reached the village.

Along the way to the village, Rex noticed several other people around them, hiding.

Since the forest wasn't particularly vast—easily traversed in under an hour by someone with Rex's speed—news spread even faster. By now, word of Rakha stirring up trouble, in Verdant Ivy Village had likely already reached the neighboring settlements.

Hiding behind a thick tree, Rex peeked ahead and analyzed the situation.

Currently, Rakha is back with about thirty people.

Almost half of them were at the Immortal Spirit ranks and beside him, there was a man with long green hair tied into a ponytail that reached down to his lower back. His face was pliant, his eyes were slanted like a snake, and he had the strongest aura of them all.

Rex could tell that this man was at Garvain's strength or perhaps even stronger.

Someone as young as him could match Gavain's strength.

It emphasized where he is right now.

This was the Aurelian Fortress with a Gate-class Obelisk of Life, it wasn't a surprising sight to see this kind of young man already reaching such a high level of power. Is that the village head? If not then I really need to be careful, there might be someone here I can't handle.

On the other hand, Rakha stepped forward—glaring at both Casey and Kody in front of him.

"Do you think I'm stupid?" He barked angrily. "I know it's not you—who knocked me out, you're too weak to do something—like that. Whoever it was, tell me their name. Better yet, bring that person out right now, or else things won't end well for your pathetic, lowly village"

"Don't be shy, Rakha," Casey smiled playfully. "It's fine to admit you got knocked out by me"

Upon hearing this, Rakha turned his eyes to the side without looking back.

He was trying to check his senior behind him as his face turned red from embarrassment.

Rakha came here to find out who knocked him up but he was being slandered instead.

"Stop spouting nonsense, you damn bitch!" He pointed at Casey angrily. "Cough it out, tell the truth!"

But despite the pressure, Casey and Kody kept telling him the truth.

None of the two confessed that it was Rex.

Even with Rakha's senior looking sharply at them from behind, they kept their composure.

Observing this from the side, Rex nodded inwardly.

It was pleasantly surprising to see both of them protecting him like that.

Glancing at the skinny young man behind him, Meklo, Rex asked, "Do you know who that is?"

He pointed at Rakha's senior, wanting to know who it was.

"It's Joren, the right-hand man of the Onyx Lotus' head," Meklo answered in concern.

Rex sucked in a cold breath, this was really bad.

Since this person, Joren is not the village head, then there are people here who he can't face right now.

"Brother Rex," Linthia tugged on his clothes from the side, forcing him to look at her. "Should we really help them? I know they're the ones giving the quotas but if the price was to offend another stronger village, we shouldn't interfere"

Upon hearing this, Rex wasn't surprised.

He understands why Linthia was hesitant.

A trouble here would be catastrophic for them, especially with Kraken with them.

If exposed, they would undoubtedly be executed.

Rex turned his gaze away and fixed on Casey, his eyes glistened as he scanned her stats.

"Yes…" He nodded firmly. "I think we really should help them"
