The Informal Tomb Raiding Diary: She is the occupant of the tomb!-Chapter 66: Patients Shouldn’t Overthink
Chen Qinghan’s eyes showed a hint of panic as he gently placed my head back on the ground, though my neck was still twisted.
"Are you really okay? Do you feel pain?"
"No pain."
I felt frustrated, worried that I would always present myself with a crooked neck.
Chen Qinghan got up and walked towards the shore through the muddy ground, and it was only by following his steps that I realized we were still in the lake.
But the water was gone, leaving only the muddy bottom of the lake. Chen Qinghan walked back to the shore and dragged a stretcher from the medical tent.
Considering my current state, he didn’t dare to carry me on his back or in his arms, so he could only drag me on the stretcher.
When he placed my arms on my stomach, I realized that they were as limp as noodles, not only dislocated but also probably broken in several places.
"Cough, don’t worry, I’m fine. Don’t go looking for a doctor; if they come, my identity will be exposed." Honestly, I’d rather live my life like a marionette than be sliced up for research.
"Got it." Chen Qinghan moved gently and slowly dragged me back to the shore.
Inside the medical tent, he wrapped up Zhe Shou’s corpse in a body bag and laid down a white cloth on the table, lifting me onto it.
"Your bones are broken. I’ll handle them for now," Chen Qinghan said as he picked up scissors and started snipping open my sleeve. Seeing the dislocated and crushed arm, he looked as serious as if he were defusing a bomb.
"Just do it without worrying. Practice proves that I have a Vajra Body. Hey? Where’s Big Black? Gone again?"
"Dead."
"Dead? How did it die?"
"You killed it. Don’t you remember?"
"I was deep in thought, and my eyes went red. I knew nothing until you called me back."
"I saw red too, and I could only see it disappearing in the red light. The lake water evaporated with all the fish, leaving only you lying there."
"Wow~ That’s incredible. So, the monster in the tomb disappeared like this too."
"Maybe the Nine Nether Flower inside you is protecting you."
"Phew, I almost forgot about it if you hadn’t mentioned it. Ah! Where’s my souvenir? Check inside my sleeve, quick."
"I’ve got it here, keeping it safe for you, you little moneygrubber." Chen Qinghan sighed with exasperation.
Once the splints were fixed on my arms, Chen Qinghan cautiously supported my head, ready to set my neck back in place.
"Come on, don’t be so skittish. At worst, I’ll die after defeating the enemy – that’s a victorious death, worth it!"
"Shut up, you talk too much."
Chen Qinghan, this clueless guy, I was comforting and encouraging him, yet he snapped at me!
Crack—
A crisp sound came from my neck as my head returned to its proper position. I rolled my eyes around. All right, I could still move, not dead yet.
"See, I told you it was fine." I couldn’t help but babble again.
"If you’re fine, walk a few steps." Chen Qinghan grumbled.
"Hey, my legs are bent like pi, straighten them first, then I’ll walk."
"You’re so mouthy." Although his words were full of complaints, Chen Qinghan’s expression relaxed.
For a moment, I wanted to ask him if he cared about me because I was an ’antique’ or because I am who I am.
But, thinking about it, I found the thought too pretentious, so I held it back and didn’t ask.
Once my arms and legs were set, I heard the sound of car engines approaching the camp. Based on the time, Chen Qinghan’s colleagues should be back.
"I’ll tell them it’s just a regular fracture; the doctors won’t check you immediately." With that, Chen Qinghan turned and left the tent.
With the persistent Black Fan gone, I felt great, lying on the operating table humming a little tune.
The convoy returned, and Chen Qinghan along with the team leader took people to the lakeside. His lies rolled off his tongue so naturally, blending truth with falsehood seamlessly.
He blamed Big Black’s self-destruction for the lake water evaporating and said I got injured protecting him, taking the brunt of the explosion’s impact.
As for why Big Black suddenly self-destructed, he said it couldn’t stay long in the outside world and wanted to make a last-ditch effort before it perished.
Chen Qinghan’s tale was impossible to disprove, given that there was no evidence left.
Anyway, the crisis was over, and I was gloriously injured, so the team leader and others could re-enter Burial Site 003 for research.
The equipment in the tent was also intact; only three more were injured. Tonight’s disaster wasn’t a huge loss.
"Qinghan~" Baozi’s high-pitched, affectionate call flew past the medical tent. She had just been forced into a vehicle, unwilling to leave, and was finally let out.
Once she appeared, the team leader might as well not have been there. Her clear, girlish voice surrounded them, chattering non-stop, one person like a hundred sparrows, leaving no room for the two men to talk.
From asking about Chen Qinghan’s safety to what attacked the camp, then back to her desire to follow Chen Qinghan into the tomb, her topics seemed endless.
Such a lively kid is delightful, though a little noisy. Of course, the ones she’s annoying are Chen Qinghan and the team leader, while I lay in the medical tent secretly laughing.
"Little Fu is hurt – go keep her company; we’ve got some matters to discuss. We’ll talk about your concerns later," said Chen Qinghan, this sly guy, actually selling me out!
My smile froze on my face. I quickly shut my eyes and pretended to sleep, thinking that if the little girl saw me asleep, she wouldn’t chat with me.
"Fuqu~" Baozi gently called, tip-toeing into the tent.
"Fuqu?"
"Oh no, she’s hurt so badly. It would be awful if she’s passed out!" Baozi muttered and turned to lift the flap, shouting outside, "Qinghan, come quick, call the doctor, Fuqu’s unconscious!"
Chen Qinghan quickly came in, and as he moved to check my eyes, I sneakily opened one eye and made a funny face at him, using his body to block Baozi’s view.
"She’s fine; she’s just tired and fell asleep." Chen Qinghan replied swiftly, giving me a quick glare while Baozi wasn’t looking.
"Did she get hurt saving you? She’s so brave. Oh no, she won’t end up with a disability, will she? Are you going to take care of her forever?"
"Finished your homework? Done the practice exams? Failed English last time – have you signed up for extra classes?"
"Ah! No, stop talking, ah, my head hurts, I’m a patient, the patient’s brain needs rest~"
"I see your brain works fine, thinking about this and that, so much on your mind."
"Oh no, where’s my medicine? Oops, forgot to take it at night. It’s surely in the car; I’ll go get it." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Baozi came in a rush and left in a hurry, like a little bird of youth that never returns.
I sighed inwardly, thinking, why be anyone’s fangirl but Chen Qinghan’s? He’s one cold-blooded, ruthless, and wicked man.
