The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 280 This is goodbye… for forever
Nathaniel slowly pushed himself up and lightly leapt onto the platform.
He cracked his neck and wrists, bones popping one by one.
"You two tin buckets, back off!"
Zeta Prime and Delta12 didn’t hesitate. They instantly retreated to Tristan’s side.
"Hell no! Did he just call me a dumb robot?" Zeta Prime grumbled, clearly offended.
"Whatever, dumb or not, let those two zombies tear each other to bits," Delta12 shrugged, totally unbothered like he was just here for the show.
Megan tugged at Tristan’s arm, pulling him down the platform. "Come on, let’s check on Nicole."
Zeta Prime stayed up top to keep watch, just in case Charles Cooper tried to pull a disappearing act again.
Delta12 followed the couple down to help with rescue efforts.
Nicole weakly lifted her hand, and Megan gripped it tightly. "Nicole, hang in there, alright?"
"No more hospital tomorrow. The baby... it’s gone."
Megan slid her arm behind Nicole’s neck, gently lifting her head. "You can have another baby later, okay?"
Nicole’s eyes shimmered with unshed tears. "But this one... this one was Nathaniel’s. I just couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it. I’d already prepared to accept everything. But in the end, we still... we were never meant to be. Like there’s always been this wall between us—old grudges, old pain. We were never going to make it."
"Help me up, Megan. I need to see him."
Megan shook her head. "You need treatment first. The medbots have locked down the area. Charles isn’t walking away from this—dead or not."
Nicole persisted, "Please, Megan. I’m begging you. This is goodbye... for forever."
Delta12 carefully scooped Nicole into his arms, and from a distance, looked back at the two figures still clawing at each other on the platform.
Well, to be accurate—they weren’t even human anymore.
Their growls were animalistic, manic. Nails pierced into rotting flesh, yanking chunks off, only for the wounds to knit back together again.
They were locked in a brutal tangle—sharp nails stabbing all the way into each other’s guts.
Megan asked, "Internal organs didn’t kill them... then what’s their weakness?"
Tristan’s eyes suddenly lit up. "I know."
He pulled a sword hilt from under his coat. The second his thumb scanned over it, an orange laser blade burst out.
He bolted up the platform, shouting, "Charles Cooper! This is your end!"
He drove the beam straight into Charles’s midsection, spun around him once—
And Charles was done. His torso separated from his legs, entrails spilling out everywhere.
Inside the intestines, something started writhing unnaturally. Then—boom—they exploded. Some freakish monster with antennae shot out.
Tristan, steady as ever, drove the searing beam through that thing too. It let out the most horrible wail before dropping dead.
Charles’s upper body lay twitching on the ground, blood oozing from a twisted grimace. "You figured it out... damn you."
Thick, dark green liquid spilled from his mouth as he coughed again, "Don’t think this means you won anything, Nathaniel. You’ll always be what you really are... a zombie."
Charles never did close his eyes in the end.
Nathaniel stared down at the corpse, then laughed—a sharp, broken sound. "That’s my own brother. The same one who dragged me into this sick joke from the start. Dead now. Maybe that’s how everyone always wanted me to end up."
In one swift motion, he grabbed the laser sword from Tristan’s hand and rammed it into his own gut.
He twisted the blade violently, not stopping until screams echoed from deep inside him.He looked at the woman in Delta12’s arms and cracked a bitter smile. "Nicole, goodbye forever."
Nathaniel collapsed to the ground, not moving a muscle. Nicole covered her mouth, tears spilling out uncontrollably.
"Can you take me to him?" she asked.
Delta12 gently carried her over and placed her beside Nathaniel. She reached out, her fingers trembling, and slowly closed his eyes. "Nathaniel, I’ve hated you and loved you in this life. I’ve been through so much pain, but you never got to hear me say it..."
"I love you, Nathaniel." Her voice broke as she sobbed, the sound growing louder until it echoed across the quiet night sky.
Meanwhile, some of the mechanical enforcers stayed behind, scanning for any remaining bio-monsters, while others rushed the infected to the Genexa Medical Research Lab.
Nathaniel’s serum had already been synthesized into a cure and mass production was now underway, giving hope to those poisoned during the chaos.
Elsewhere, Tristan and Megan brought Nicole to the hospital. But despite all efforts, the child she carried didn’t survive.
By the time they’d handled everything, the sky had begun to lighten.
Megan sat beside Nicole’s hospital bed, gently wiping away the tear stains on her pale, exhausted face. "Feeling any better?"
"A little..." Nicole responded, her gaze distant, fixed on the gray-blue sky beyond the window. It was hard to tell if she was thinking of Nathaniel, or the pain-filled journey of her past. She let out a fragile sigh. "My life’s been like drifting duckweed—floating, sinking—but in the end, I’m still alone."
Megan took her hand gently. "His body’s at the funeral home. If you want to say goodbye, wait until you’re feeling better before the cremation."
Nicole shook her head as a tear slid down to her temple. "A man like Nathaniel, who’s done so many terrible things... and you still let him leave this world in peace. I should probably be thanking you."
Megan tucked her in with a sigh. "Don’t thank me. It’s us... and everyone in the world who should be thanking you. Get some rest. I’ll bring you porridge at noon."
Nicole nodded slowly and shut her eyes.
In her dream, she held a little girl who clung to her, sweetly calling her ’Mom.’
Because the Dreamscape Manor was attacked, the house had been trashed.
Tristan drove Megan back to their villa in Emerald Cove. As the car pulled up, Penelope Reid, Rachel Reid, and Kai were already waiting anxiously at the door.
Kai quickly stepped forward and opened the car door. "Sis-in-law." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Megan got out carefully, and without warning, Rachel pulled her into a tight embrace, her voice thick with exasperated affection.
"Seriously, you’re pregnant—could you please take it easy? Anyone watching would think you’re carrying some kind of superhero baby. You’re way too hardcore!"
Megan burst out laughing. "Why not just call it a baby Hulk at this point?"
"You’re impossible," Rachel rolled her eyes at her, half amused, half exasperated.
Penelope stepped over and took Megan’s hand, checking her baby bump with a warm, doting gaze. "That belly’s full—this one’s definitely not going to be a small eater. Come on inside, I made some eight-treasure porridge for you."
Tristan got out of the car too and gave Kai a quick hug.
"You’ve lost weight. Something happen?"
Tristan shook his head. "Nothing big. Probably just exhausted."
Kai frowned, not buying it. "Tristan, if you really see me as a friend, don’t keep things from me. What’s really going on with you?"
Tristan pulled out a pack of cigarettes, popped one between his lips, and lit up without a word.Through the lingering smoke, the man let out a soft chuckle. "Kai, I’m down to less than two months now."
