The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 274 Might have something to do with my body
The moon hung high above when a chilling scream sliced through the stillness of the temple.
Samuel sat by the bedside, his eyes fixed on the girl approaching him with a gleaming dagger in hand.
"Stay back!" he snapped.
Luna Ford couldn’t help but laugh. "Scaredy-cat much? If you’d waited five more minutes, you’d probably have to say goodbye to that arm of yours!"
Samuel glanced down at the wound on his hand. It had already started rotting, the veins around it turning an ominous black. Just in that moment, the decaying flesh began creeping up his arm at a visibly alarming speed.
He shoved out his arm toward her. "Go for it. Cut it off now, or I’ll be walking around like a zombie."
Watching him shut his eyes like he was bracing for death, Luna chuckled. "Geez, it’s just cleaning a wound. No need to act like I’m about to kill you."
Samuel opened his eyes again and looked at her carefully tending to the injury. Then she pricked her middle finger and let her bright red blood drip onto his skin.
The searing pain quickly faded into a soothing chill. He stared at her, stunned. "What kind of weirdo are you?"
Luna raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Weirdo? Nah, I’m a full-on ghost. Want a love bite on the neck while we’re at it?"
She grabbed some gauze and scissors off the side table, then wrapped his wound up neatly—adding a bow for flair.
"You know, you’ve got decent looks, but your mouth runs like a chatty grandpa. No way you’re getting a girlfriend with that."
Samuel squinted at her, surprised at her sharp tongue for someone her age. "How old even are you?"
"Nineteen!" she answered cheerily.
His mouth twitched. "And you’re married to Karl Freeman?"
Luna nodded seriously. "Yep, we’re married."
"Married, huh?" he muttered. "Sounds straight outta the 1800s."
Clearly she’d been holed up in this temple too long, completely out of touch with the real world.
Samuel snorted. "You even know what a marriage license is? Ever taken wedding pics? Been to an actual ceremony?"
Her blank face said it all. He glanced toward the door, where Karl was chatting with Brandon, and shook his head. "You’ve got nothing with him. No paper, no promise. Just vibes." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Luna blinked. "Does any of that actually matter? As long as we’re together every day, I’m good."
Samuel saw she meant every word. Innocent to the core. He dropped the teasing.
"You know how to cure the Heartbound Worm?" he asked.Luna Ford nodded lightly. "Of course. Just a single drop of my blood is enough."
"For real?" Samuel’s tight frown eased up a bit. "You can actually dispel the sorcery?"
Luna gave him a sideways glance. "Why would I lie about something like that when I’m clearly not well myself? I know you’re here because of Megan, who’s got Karl’s heart. That girl’s really lucky—so many people care about her. Me? I don’t know anyone outside, I’ve never even left this mountain."
"We’re her brothers. The guy outside is our third brother, and I’m the fourth."
A look of envy crept over Luna’s face. "Must be nice... But my master never lets us leave this place. Otherwise, I’d go help Karl save her boyfriend in a heartbeat."
"Why won’t they let you leave?"
She just shook her head. "Might have something to do with my body, I guess."
Seeing how upfront she was, Samuel didn’t push the topic. All he cared about right now was having a way to save Tristan.
Then Karl Freeman and Brandon returned from outside.
Karl waved to Luna. "Time for bed."
She jumped into his arms with a grin. "Then tell me a story first, okay?"
"Alright."
As they walked off, Brandon quietly closed the door behind them.
Samuel’s eyes lit up with excitement. "Bro, there’s hope! Just one drop of her blood could save Tristan."
"Yeah, but she can’t leave the temple yet," Brandon replied, visibly troubled.
"Why not? You and Karl were talking forever out there."
Brandon looked at Samuel’s bandaged hand and sighed. "She’s a medicine bearer. Her blood can cure poison and break sorcery, but her physical condition is tricky. She has to soak in the medicinal pool every day. Only after she becomes a complete woman and continues the soaking for three months can she safely leave. Otherwise, she’ll be consumed from within by all the toxins."
Samuel’s eyes lit up as an idea struck. "Then just have Tristan come to Cursed Mountain!"
Brandon shook his head. "You think Megan didn’t think of that already? Problem is, Mr. Ford up at the peak holds a grudge against the Reid family. He won’t let any of them set foot on Cursed Mountain. We’re not sure of all the details, but Karl said Mr. Ford agreed to help—on the condition that the girl waits until her body’s stable before going anywhere."
Samuel scratched the back of his head. "Then let’s just take a bowl of her blood back with us."
