Chapter 218: Chapter 218 Yes. I Do.

The woman grabbed the man’s hand, voice shaky. "Boss, can you let my family go for now?"

He let out a chuckle. "Once it’s done, I’ll give you what you want."

Her fingers were trembling. "But... what if I fail?"

He tilted her chin up, the smile vanishing from his face. His eyes narrowed dangerously. "Nicole, you’ve never failed any mission I gave you. Why are you nervous now just because it’s Tristan Reid?"

Nicole’s eyes shimmered with unshed tears. "Boss, he’s the King... Tristan Reid!"

He gripped her neck tightly. "And so what? Being King means he doesn’t need women anymore? Megan Shaw’s pregnant, can’t even handle a man’s needs. This is your perfect window. What are you so scared of?"

Her face flushed red as tears streamed down her cheeks, slipping into her temples.

He scoffed. "Look at you, all fragile and pitiful. What guy wouldn’t fall for that? Even I hate seeing you cry." He let go, lighting a cigar.

The low-lit room filled with smoke, the glow of the cigarette tip flickering in the haze.

"Nicole, how long have you been with me?"

She looked up slowly. "Since I was fifteen. It’s been ten years."

"If you pull this off, I’ll make sure you never have to take another job again."

Nicole stared at him in disbelief. He might be down now, but once, he was untouchable. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

His hand brushed her cheek. "Don’t believe me? Ten years, Nicole. I care about you. If this mission works and I make a comeback, you’ll be my First Lady."

Hearing that, Nicole lowered her lashes. Shock aside, something deep in her chest stirred.

He pulled her onto his lap, tilted her chin, and kissed her soft lips.

The presidential election had ended. Unsurprisingly, Charles Cooper was re-elected.

During the press conference, he also announced the breakthrough—codename SSS90’s vaccine was finally ready and about to go into mass production nationwide.

The news lit up the country, sweeping away the gloom that had lingered for half a month.

Meanwhile, at the Lewis estate, a grand wedding was in full swing.

In the dressing room.

Megan Shaw looked at Emily Gates. "You look amazing today, sis-in-law."

Emily’s cheeks flushed. "Thanks, Megan. Just wait till your big day—you’ll look even better."

Megan rested her hand on her small baby bump, sighing. "I guess I’ll be waddling down the aisle with a baby in my arms. Reminds me of that joke—kid cries looking at his parents’ wedding photos. Says, ‘Why wasn’t I invited?’"

Emily covered her mouth, laughing. "Well, your baby won’t have that issue. All three of you’ll be in the pictures."

"Yeah, my baby’s going to be part of our wedding, our photos... everything." Megan paused suddenly.

"You okay? Feeling weird?"

A slow smile curled on her lips. "It moved. Three and a half months in, and it just kicked."

Emily’s eyes lit up. "Can I feel it?"

"Of course."

Megan took her hand and placed it gently over her belly.

Emily’s face gleamed with excitement. "I felt it! So soft, but it moved! Old folks say early kicks mean it’s a girl.""I kinda hope it’s a girl," Megan Shaw said while looking at Emily Gates with a soft smile. "Then I can dress her up all cute, do little braids, wear matching dresses, and spill secrets nonstop. Seriously, Emily, you and Brandon should hurry up too—otherwise, my baby’s gonna be all alone in the Lewis family."

Emily’s cheeks flushed slightly. She curled her lips into a shy smile. "Honestly, I admit I’m still a bit nervous about marrying Brandon."

Just then, Samuel Lewis strolled in. "Nervous? Come on, that’s normal. First time’s always a little weird, right?"

Megan rolled her eyes. "Seriously, Fourth Bro? This is a one-time thing, not something you do twice! You’re sounding more and more like Kevin Ward."

"And what’s that supposed to mean?"

She gave him a look full of disdain. "Like, you’ve officially out-goofed a husky."

"I don’t get it."

Emily mumbled, "She means you’ve hit peak goofball?"

Megan nodded. "Emily gets me. Fourth Bro, I’m starting to think you finding a wife is gonna be a waiting game... like, a very long one."

"What’s so funny over here?" Tristan Reid walked in, pulling Megan into his arms smoothly.

Samuel cleared his throat and tried to look innocent. "Hey, I just told a joke, okay? Can I help it if you all laugh at anything?"

"Bet it’s ‘cause you’re being a dork again," Tristan shot him a skeptical look. "Anyway, it’s about time. We should head to the front of the hall."

Emily stood up as the stylist adjusted her gown. The strapless dress showed off her slender collarbones, and the cascading pleats created a soft, cloud-like effect under the sheer tulle overlay.

She looked like absolute elegance.

Taking Megan’s hand, she said softly, "Thank you, Megan. This is honestly the most beautiful gown I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe you made it yourself while pregnant... It really means a lot."

Megan’s face lit up. Happiness radiated from her eyes. "Come on now. We’re family from now on, so no need to be so formal. Emily, I wish you a lifetime of happiness, lots of love, and a house full of babies!"

Emily blushed and whispered, "Thanks."

Megan stayed by her side as they waited at the entrance, just before those grand doors would open.

The big golden doors slowly moved, and Emily tightened her grip on Megan’s hand. "I’m kinda freaking out."

"Don’t be. Brandon’s right there waiting. Emily, go grab that happiness now."

Emily had never imagined she’d one day marry her dream guy, Brandon Lewis. All she’d ever wanted was to keep her feelings tucked away deep inside.

But fate had different plans. After going through so much together, Brandon had accepted her love. And who would’ve guessed that taking a bullet for him would end up bringing them together?

She had once asked him if he was just with her out of guilt. Brandon had said, of course there was gratitude—but more importantly, there was genuine love. He wouldn’t be with her just because he felt obligated.

Sometimes, love just happens... at the right moment.

A spotlight lit up both Emily and Megan. With a gentle smile, Megan stepped into a fatherly role for the ceremony, walking Emily toward her future.

When she placed Emily’s hand into Brandon’s, Megan said, smiling, "Starting today, you’re her husband. You have to cherish her, protect her, love her, and stand by her no matter what. Think you’re up for that?"

"Absolutely." Brandon, looking sharp in his deep blue suit, gave off an effortlessly charming vibe.

He knelt on one knee, holding out a bouquet. "Emily, will you marry me?"

Emily nodded and took the flowers, her voice barely above a whisper. "Yes. I do."
