The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 186 It Just Causes A Miscarriage
Mrs. Lewis glanced at the stick pointing straight at her nose, then coldly brushed it aside.
She sneered, "You people don’t even realize how heartless and cold you are, do you? Megan’s only been around for a few days and you’re all taken in already. But Amelia grew up with you for twenty years—why couldn’t you show her a bit more love?"
Mr. Lewis struggled to keep his composure, clutching his chest as his voice trembled with anger. "Megan’s your biological granddaughter! We’re your flesh and blood! Don’t tell me you don’t see all the terrible things Amelia’s done behind everyone’s back. Or is it that you just don’t want to see them?"
Mrs. Lewis scanned the table, her glare full of hatred, like each face reminded her of some unforgivable betrayal.
"You’re all cold to her..."
Oliver spoke up, face blank, his tone laced with frost. "You only see what you want to see. You never dig past the surface. If everyone turns their back on someone, there’s always a reason. No one gets hated by accident."
Brandon followed up right after, "She grew up under your eyes, so yeah, it makes sense you’re close to her. We used to treat her like a real sister too. But she twisted things, made our parents think less of us just to get more attention. You think we have infinite patience to keep forgiving that kind of behavior?"
Samuel let out a sarcastic chuckle. "You’re not even really our grandma. But Grandpa truly is our grandfather."
Megan shot him a sideways look.
Zachary sighed and gently helped Mrs. Lewis sit back down. "Mom, you’re seriously losing it."
"I’m not confused at all!"
Seeing her still so stubborn, Stella finally snapped. She shot up from her seat, not bothering to keep up the elegant act anymore. "Mom, why on earth did you put drugs in the food? Were you really ready to risk everyone’s lives for some pitiful outsider?"
Mrs. Lewis gripped her prayer beads tight, her voice tense. "I never wanted anyone dead! That drug... it just causes a miscarriage!"
A sharp breath rippled through the crowd.
The tension in the air dropped another degree as Mrs. Lewis coldly declared, "Alright then, I’ll spell it out—I did want her to lose the baby!"
She sounded so smug, like she thought she was completely justified.
Megan narrowed her eyes, the chill in her gaze cutting deep. Even strangers would try to help a pregnant woman in distress. But her own "grandmother" wanted to make her lose the baby?
She stood and walked slowly toward Mrs. Lewis, her laugh dry and bitter. "Do your hands not burn holding that rosary? Can you even look God in the eye?"
She smirked, her tone laced with biting sarcasm.
"Oh right—you went to church, lit a candle, said a prayer... then walked out with sin still burning in your heart. And you just love saying ’God is merciful,’ don’t you? Must’ve been praying just to make yourself feel better about what you were about to do."
Mrs. Lewis glared like she wanted to tear her apart. "If it weren’t for you, Amelia wouldn’t be in this mess!"
"Every brother here has said Amelia was toxic—and you chose to ignore it. Figures, since she clearly learned it from you. Children reflect their upbringing, after all."
"You dare insult me?!" Mrs. Lewis raised a trembling finger at her, rage boiling over.Megan shot her a cold glare. "Quit using your age to act like a saint! You tried to kill my baby—don’t expect me to stay quiet about it. If you weren’t my father’s mother, I would’ve had you locked up already."
Her eyes stayed fixed on Mrs. Lewis. "One day, I’ll make sure you rot behind bars."
Mrs. Lewis turned to the others, her voice rising. "You all heard that, right? What kind of ungrateful brat is this! She wants me dead in jail! I raised such a horrible granddaughter! Amelia, my sweet Amelia..."
"Enough with the crocodile tears!" Megan snapped. "If this happens again, don’t think I’ll show any mercy. I’ll hand you over to the cops myself!"
Just then, the butler came in carrying a small cage and set it on the floor.
Inside was a tiny, lively hamster. The butler picked some food randomly from a dish on the table and placed it in the cage.
The hamster sniffed, then began to eat—just two minutes later, it collapsed, twitching a few times before going completely still.
"Look at this!" Mr. Lewis exploded, gripping Mrs. Lewis’s collar. "It’s dead!"
"No way... That woman told me... said it would only cause a miscarriage! Not death!"
Megan lifted her chin slightly. "Bring her in!"
Two bodyguards escorted a woman in a black puffer jacket and beanie into the room.
"Take a good look—was this the one who told you that?"
Mrs. Lewis rushed over, stumbling on her way, gripping the woman’s coat like a madwoman. "You said it wouldn’t kill! You told me it would just cause a miscarriage! I put that stuff in every dish—if everyone ate it, they’d be dead!"
The woman turned her face to the side, staying silent.
Mrs. Lewis completely lost it, slapping the woman over and over. Her fingernails scratched bloody lines into her skin.
Mr. Lewis sank into his chair, eyes wide with shock. "Were you trying to wipe out the whole family? From this moment on, you’re grounded!"
Mrs. Lewis collapsed to the floor, staring at the silent hamster in the cage. Just the thought of everyone eating that food and dropping dead sent chills down her spine.
She would’ve been a murderer.
Zachary shook his head. "Mom... you’ve truly let us down."
"Mrs. Ford! Take her to the prayer room. Let her beg for forgiveness properly."
Mrs. Lewis glanced at Mr. Lewis, but didn’t take the help offered. She slowly walked toward the dining room doors.
Pausing at the threshold, she looked back at Megan. Her voice cold and sharp. "I only have one granddaughter. Her name is Amelia."
Megan folded her arms, expression stony. "Well, I don’t have a grandmother—someone as heartless as you doesn’t deserve to be one."
At that, Nova Tech burst into action, landing squarely on Mrs. Lewis’s head and clawing through her hair, even dropping a bit of motor oil for good measure.
"You witch! How dare you hurt my fairy queen! Nova’s gonna end you!"
The whole scene was absurd, almost cartoonish—but still, considering Mrs. Lewis’s age, a little over the top.
Megan quickly recalled Nova and gave it a half-hearted scolding.
Because Mrs. Lewis was the one behind the poisoning, Oliver didn’t hand over the woman to the authorities but kept her under house arrest instead.
After this fiasco, the entire Lewis family became unusually cautious, double-checking every meal and every detail of daily life.
That night, Stella stayed with Megan, lying beside her in silence.
Once Megan had finally drifted off, Stella kissed her lightly on the forehead, tucked her in, and slipped out of the room.
The moment the door clicked shut, Megan’s eyes snapped open.
