The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 165 The Truth Was Revealed
The noise around gradually died down as the old man arrived.
Chloe and Kevin pushed Bernard over together.
In that moment, Amelia felt like she had fallen into complete darkness—because she knew now, she had zero blood ties to the Shaw family.
Her fingers dug into her palm, smearing the bright red nail polish, but she was too numb to feel the sting.
"Wait, wasn’t Mr. Shaw dead?"
"Didn’t they say he passed away? How is he still around?"
"Then what about Mrs. Shaw? Was that faked too?"
...
Bernard adjusted the blanket on his lap, his eyes clouded and heavy. "I’m here today to apologize to the Lewis family—for what I did twenty years ago."
The room fell into a hush, everyone listening closely to his confession.
"Back then, out of selfishness, I swapped my granddaughter with the Lewis family’s daughter," he admitted, looking up at the sky, a bitter smile pulling at his lips. "I thought it’d bring my bloodline a better future. I was wrong. I didn’t expect that the couple of traffickers who got involved would have their own twisted plans—they ended up switching their child with my real granddaughter after that."
He let out a shaky breath, eyes closed. "I’ve failed my son and daughter-in-law, Diane. They never knew. I fear my true granddaughter might have already been killed long ago."
Whispers broke out:
"So... Amelia isn’t his real granddaughter? She’s the traffickers’ kid?"
"Well, makes sense. A dragon’s kid soars, a rat’s digs holes. Megan’s a designer and a CEO of a multinational, while Amelia only knows how to play dirty to get what she wants."
"Seriously. Kind of explains why her brothers never warmed up to her. Just look at all the shady stuff she’s done. Not a single thing worth any respect."
...
Amelia bit her lip hard. "Who says I’m the traffickers’ daughter? Do you have proof? You’re all just throwing mud at me out of spite. What did I ever do to deserve this?"
Chloe pulled out a DNA report. "Marcus Ford—the man who killed my mom—he’s your biological father."
Then Megan raised her phone and tapped play on a video in front of everyone.
Instantly, the color drained from Amelia’s face. She never imagined that video Karl had taken would end up in Megan’s hands.
"I got this video at noon today," Megan said with a calm that cut like glass, holding the phone up for all to see. "Pretty brutal, right? A daughter who didn’t just betray her mother, but coldly plotted her death just to protect her own self-interest. No—her selfishness."
Megan had been shocked when she saw it. The sender had tracked down her ’BlackWing’ IP, which instantly made her think of him. He even included a note: "As long as this makes you happy."
The video was raw—no blurring at all. It left many feeling sick. A few of the wealthy socialites holding dessert plates turned green, gagging at the sight of blood and shattered bone.
Amelia continued trying to defend herself. "Even... even if you see me in that clip, it doesn’t prove anything."
"Well, you can save that talk for the courtroom," Ryan from the crime unit said as he approached with four officers and a warrant in hand. "The driver admitted someone hired him. Right now, you’re suspected of plotting to kill Guo Zhen and causing her death. We’re placing you under arrest by the law."Amelia clutched Mrs. Lewis’s arm, eyes welling up with tears. "Grandma, please, you know me. I’d never do anything like that."
Jason scoffed, "Grandma threw that whole birthday party just for you, huh? Planning to drug me to get what you want? You thought I was that easy? If you’d been decent all these years, the Lewis family wouldn’t have kicked you out. But no, always stirring up drama wherever you go. Come on, Amelia, search your conscience. You really think you’ve done nothing wrong?"
Amelia’s lips curled into a bitter smile. "Turns out twenty years of living together can’t beat blood ties."
Megan’s voice was calm and steady. "And what about your blood ties? Your parents ended up with heartbreak and betrayal."
A pair of cold handcuffs clicked onto Amelia’s wrists. As she was escorted away, she turned her head toward Megan. "You’ve got a good background, married a good man. What, you think people actually envy you?"
Megan looped her arm through Tristan’s with a relaxed smile. "I’ve never relied on my background, or on a man. I depend on myself. I don’t need envy from others—it’s meaningless. I just want the people I love and who love me to be happy. Amelia, if you hadn’t always been scheming, you wouldn’t be in this mess. You had family, love, and friendships—you had it all. But you chose to be selfish and greedy."
Amelia’s glare was sharp, no trace of regret. Her lips lifted in a mocking smirk. "You really think that person who sent you the video is on your side? One day, you’ll lose what you treasure. You’ll know what it feels like when it’s gone. I curse you. I curse all of you!"
Before she could finish, Samuel appeared and smacked duct tape over her mouth. "Enough. Get lost."
With that over-the-top scene out of the way, Jason took over inside and started clearing guests out.
In the main hall of the Lewis estate, the rest gathered together quietly, only the sound of Mrs. Lewis softly crying breaking the silence.
Mr. Lewis gave her a sideways glance. "What are you crying for? This should be a happy day."
"She was like a daughter to me. How could I not be upset?" she whispered, tears still falling.
Samuel shook his head with a chuckle. "So... you’re sad because you raised her into what she is?"
The brothers around him burst into laughter at that.
Jason rubbed his jaw, clicking his tongue. "Grandma, you seriously wanted to drug me for that woman? What were you even thinking?"
"What?" Mrs. Lewis gasped. "I raised her for twenty years, of course I cared!"
Oliver shook his head. "And here I thought all your praying would’ve made you wise. Guess not. Grandma, maybe it’s time you stop meddling in our lives."
Jason snickered behind his hand. "Big bro just doesn’t want you playing matchmaker again."
Oliver’s face dropped instantly. "Cut the crap."
Stella gently caressed Megan’s cheek. "Sweetie, how about we go update your name tomorrow?"
Zachary frowned. "Come on, don’t pressure her. She can decide when she’s ready."
Megan gave a soft smile. "I’ll talk to Grandpa and my dad about it first."
"Grandpa" referred to Bernard, and "dad" to Elliot.
Mrs. Lewis dabbed her tears away with a handkerchief and looked at Megan. "I honestly didn’t think you were our real granddaughter. I want to say sorry for what I said to you that day."
She took off the bracelet from her wrist. "Your grandpa gave me this. If you don’t mind, please take it. Consider it my gift to you."
Megan walked over, crouched beside her, and smiled, "Grandma."
