Chapter 104: Chapter 104 Call Up BlackWing?

Megan flicked her finger against Rachel’s forehead. "You seriously need to stop overthinking, you little perv."

Rachel stuck out her tongue. "But what do you think Amelia is really up to?"

Megan raised an eyebrow. "Curiosity’s gonna get you in trouble. Focus on the lecture."

At the same time, she sent Tristan a quick text: [Amelia just went to that private clinic across from the Brew & Bloom coffee shop. Look into it.]

Tristan instantly replied: [On it! (づ ̄3 ̄)づ]

Right then, someone else—who happened to be pregnant—was pacing nervously just outside the pathology department.

The door opened, and a doctor in a white coat stepped out, handing her two test reports. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Amelia snatched them up, her hands already shaking.

Both samples showed a genetic match. Parental relationship confirmed. One with 99.8%, the other 99.6%.

Her fingers curled around the papers, trembling. No way was this real.

She had picked this doctor herself. They’ve been working together for years.

All the hair samples she tampered with—she trusted this place to do the results.

Terrified of being replaced as the Lewis family’s heiress, she’d secretly swapped the strands.

If the test showed that person really was the true daughter, Amelia would never let her live.

Just yesterday, some mysterious guy had called, said the butler’s shopping bag had a packet inside—her parents’ hair.

This morning, Amelia showed up at the hospital to confirm if the guy was telling the truth.

Staring at both reports, it felt like her whole world was collapsing.

She slid down the wall, crouching, her eyes blank.

Her phone buzzed. The vibration yanked her back to reality.

She frowned at the unfamiliar number, her voice laced with anger. "Happy now?"

The man’s voice chuckled smoothly on the other end. "A little gift. Do you like it?"

Storming down the hallway, she shoved open the stairwell door with a loud creak. "What the hell do you want?!"

Her voice echoed off the concrete walls. She lowered her tone. "Seriously, what do you really want from me?"

He said with a smirk in his voice, "Play this smart, and you stay the Lewis princess without a scratch..."

After the call ended, Amelia collapsed onto the stairs, dazed.

She never imagined she could be trapped this badly.

Her hand clenched around her phone, teeth grinding hard enough to echo.

Deep breath. If working with him meant keeping her title safe—so be it.

She tossed on her sunglasses, stood up, and rushed downstairs, pushing the exit door wide as she walked out.

In the shadows, someone aimed a phone at her, snapped a photo, then quickly sent it.

Wearing a mask, a man returned to the lab and called out the doctor.

Throwing an arm around the man’s shoulder, they disappeared into the stairwell.

Twenty minutes later, the man climbed into a black Volkswagen and dialed a number.

"Mr. Lewis, Amelia had once purcha—"

Before he could finish, a steel wire tightened around his throat from the backseat.

His face flushed, hands clawing at the wire. The phone slipped under the seat.

Even as he struggled, the one in the back had stronger hands.

His face turned from red to purple, until he finally stopped moving, chest still.

The guy in the ball cap pulled back the wire and retrieved the fallen phone from beneath the driver’s seat.

Seeing the ongoing call screen, he knew someone had been listening the whole time. The man in the baseball cap showed no emotion and ended the call without hesitation.

Pulling the brim lower, he quickly stepped out of the vehicle and walked straight into the hospital.

It was right around lunchtime, and the doctor was gathering his stuff in the locker room.

He knew he’d been exposed. To avoid getting caught up in this mess, he decided it was time to bolt.

Just then, the locker room door slowly creaked open.

Sensing someone behind him, the doctor spun around sharply, eyes widening in terror.

A flash of cold light cut through the air.

In the president’s office of Lewis Group, Oliver stared at the disconnected call, his eyes dark and dangerous.

He dialed Shane Clark right away. "Angus was attacked at the entrance of Riverside Hospital. Clean it up and make an anonymous report to the police."

Hanging up, he immediately called Samuel. "Sam, hack into the hospital’s system, pull up today’s full medical report list, and download every bit of surveillance from in and around Riverside Hospital."

On the other end, Samuel’s fingers flew across the keyboard. "What happened?"

"Angus’s been killed."

Samuel’s voice shot up. "What?!"

"Yesterday I saw Amelia rummaging through grocery bags in the kitchen like she was looking for something. I had a guy tail her. She went to Riverside Hospital this morning, met with a doctor for some sort of test. Angus was reporting back to me in the car when someone offed him."

Samuel’s tone got tense. "All the reports and surveillance have been deleted."

Oliver frowned deeply. "Can you recover them?"

"Gonna take a while. Whoever did this knew exactly what they were doing."

Massaging his temple, Oliver muttered, "Amelia’s not acting alone. Looks like someone’s targeting our family. And don’t forget—Robinson Group teamed up with the Bennette and Channing families. They’re after the Wanlong development site. I’m starting to think the same hand is behind all of it."

Samuel replied, "Wanlong’s gonna be a major port hub. Lots of import-export business down the line, and the nearby coastline? Perfect for luxury villas. Tons of potential. What’s our shot at locking it down?"

Oliver hesitated. "Not great."

"Then should we reach out to Tristan?"

"Calling in favors always comes at a cost. Besides, the Reid Group didn’t bite the first time—means they’re probably not that interested." He paused, then added, "There’s a company called NexusStar reaching out for a partnership."

"Never heard of them. Some no-name startup?"

Oliver exhaled lightly. "Registered capital of ten billion. That sound small to you? Anyway, let’s not get sidetracked—how’s your progress?"

Samuel groaned slightly. "It’s a headache. Their firewall’s like Fort Knox. I can’t crack it yet."

Oliver’s eyes narrowed. "If even you can’t do it, are we really gonna have to call up BlackWing?"

Samuel sounded offended. "Screw BlackWing. Just wait—I got this."

Eighty-eighth floor, Reid Group HQ.

Cameron walked in quickly. "Sir, by the time our people got there, Amelia had already vanished. And there were two murders at Riverside Hospital. Young guy strangled in a car. Doctor stabbed through the heart in the locker room."

Tristan’s fingers, which had been rhythmically tapping on the desk, suddenly stopped. Slowly, he looked up. "What about the surveillance inside and around the hospital?"

Cameron lowered his head. "All wiped. Even the medical records are gone."

Tristan gave a faint "Hmm" and waved him off.

He then called Megan and updated her.

Her eyes darkened. "Got it."

After ending the call, she opened up the darknet and sent Hacker God a bold and direct message: [Can you recover the deleted surveillance and medical records from Riverside Hospital and the area around it?]
