When the crowd heard someone shouting the name so thunderously, they started to search for the source. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Soon, they spotted two women, and they were quick on the uptake. After all, the woman was wearing a similar sect uniform as Chu Dong.

"Hmm, it seems like one of them is the backstabber."

"Let’s not jump to a conclusion first. We got no evidence."

"True, but I don’t really care. I’m just here for the drama."

Although Chu Dong had indeed garnered quite the sympathy from fellow people who were betrayed, there were equally people who were skeptical.

Meanwhile, when Chu Dong spotted Tao Wang and Ling Qiwei.

His face turned ghastly pale as he hurriedly retreated to the wall.

"D-Don’t you dare try to silence me!" He screamed in a panic and continued, "We’re at the Fushang Territory. If you dare to kill me, then you’re offending the dignified Soul Transformation cultivators!"

Tao Wang’s expression turned ugly when she realized how shameless and bastardly her senior brother could be.

It was clearly her who got shoved to the front to become bait by Chu Dong. Yet Chu Dong managed to be so thickface and accuse her of being the culprit.

"Chu Dong, don’t think that you can lie your way to escape punishment." Tao Wang gnashed her teeth. "I’ve already informed the elders of the sect about the matter already."

"Hmph, so did I!" Chu Dong shouted timidly and turned to the crowd.

He cupped his fists and said, "Fellow Daoist, my status in the sect isn’t as good as my junior sister. So today, I seek justice here in public to hope that you can be my witness. If I were to vanish, then it mean I have been silenced."

"You still dare to spout nonsense!" Infuriated, Tao Wang nearly unsheathed her sword to strike at him.

Luckily, Ling Qiwei intervened in time and stopped her.

"Don’t fall for his trick, Junior Sister." She warned solemnly. "He’s provoking you to make a move at him in the city so that he would be protected and you would be detained. Chu Dong doesn’t dare to leave the city with his skills alone. He’s banking on the fact that he could convince the masses to side with him."

After hearing Ling Qiwei’s advice, her emotions started to calm down.

She released the grip from the hilt of her sword.

Meanwhile, Chu Dong sneered inwardly as he capitalized on her impulsive act.

"Everyone, did you see that? She’s trying to draw her weapon and silence me!" Chu Dong shouted and hurriedly called for city guards to help.

In just a short instance, the scene escalated to the next level.

The crowd who noticed Tao Wang had the intention of killing someone also pondered if it was truly silencing the witness.

"What’s going on here?" Soon, the city guards arrived alongside a familiar person.

"Daoist Gan?" Tao Wang subconsciously called out when she spotted Piao Gan among the city guards.

Ling Qiwei hurriedly covered her mouth to stop her from speaking further. Unfortunately, it was already a little bit too late.

Everyone in the crowd was a cultivator with good hearing. Even though it was just for a brief moment, they all heard Tao Wang calling out to the city guards.

"Oh no, she already colluded and conspired with the city guards to capture me." Chu Dong cried aloud and panicked tremendously.

In the meantime, many recognized Piao Gan to be the person in charge of registration for entry.

Meanwhile, Piao Gan was frowning when he heard the gossip of him colluding with an outsider to capture someone.

And now he was preparing to go back outside and resume his duty, only to overhear the commotion. He had initially thought someone was causing trouble, especially with the formation incident in place, prompting him to come here to check it out.

Although Piao Gan was unsure of her relationship with the Dao Lord, it was pretty clear that the two were indeed together.

In the blink of an eye, the crowd shut their mouth. After all, they were still wary of Piao Gan’s identity and the city guards’ presence.

"What’s going on here?" Piao Gan turned to Tao Wang and questioned solemnly.

A few minutes later, Tao Wang finished recounting her end of the story to him.

"Please believe me, Daoist Gan. Look at my injuries. It still hadn’t been healed since the Red Demon Tiger attacked me. But look at my junior sister. She’s squeaky clean!" Chu Dong pled for justice and even threw in his own evidence.

Alas, what Chu Dong failed to realize was that Piao Gan recalled Tao Wang and Dao Lord walking together. In other words, the Dao Lord must have taken action and safeguarded Tao Wang.

Just when Piao Gan was about to inquire the presence of the Dao Lord from Tao Wang, given the latter seemed to have concealed about him, a voice echoed from afar.

"Wow, what a massive crowd gathering? I thought it was some alchemists having a battle, but it’s just some sect problem?" Ye Ming exclaimed loudly as he chose to come out at the final second.

’Heh, no wonder all those protagonists appear near the climax. It’s really a good feeling.’ He thought to himself.
