Chapter 113: Survival Skill: Bootlicking

The young man in front of Wei Heng wasn’t offended by their degrading tone.

"Hehe, do you really think I’m a brat?" The young man laughed sinisterly and unleashed his aura.

The aura he unleashed instantly shrouded Wei Heng. His complexion turned ugly and he found it difficult to breathe.

"H-How is this possible?" Dumbfounded, Wei Heng’s eyes widened. The aura was not something a lowly cultivator at the Core Formation Realm could produce.

He was still a bona fide Nascent Soul Realm cultivator and an 8th-rank alchemist.

How could he be suppressed by a mere Core Formation Realm?

"Just who are you?" By now, Wei Heng would be retarded if he still believed the other person was a youngster.

"Hehe, I’m someone from a long time ago, but the current me—or my current body to be specific is called Tang Han."

Indeed, the youngster was none other than Tang Han, who had long been possessed by an old soul.

Wei Heng’s pupil constricted when he realized the situation. He hurriedly tried to scan around his surroundings to call for help.

A possessed body!

This meant that the opposing person could be someone from a thousand years ago, or even further. It was definitely not an entity he could go against.

"Are you trying to look for help?" Tang Han curled his lips upward in amusement. "I’ve long sealed the scene with a formation. The current me is still rather weak and requires lots of medicinal pills to assist me. Who would have thought I could stumble across an 8th-rank alchemist here?"

Wei Heng swallowed a mouthful of saliva. At this moment, he truly regretted stepping forward earlier and getting himself tossed outside.

’But how was this possible? That Shan Tung only threw me to the elder’s room.’ It was only then Wei Heng regained his clarity that he was caught in a teleportation rune.

When Tang Han was about to extend his hand, Wei Heng panicked and crawled a few steps back.

"Wait wait wait. I can help you. There’s no need for violence." He shouted in a panic.

"Hmm, you have a point. But I don’t like your face or your attitude." Tang Han snickered coldly and ensnared the latter into his spatial tool.

Despite saying so, Tang Han was actually suspicious of someone watching him. However, no matter how hard he tried to deduce the other, there was nothing.

He reckoned it must have been the body he possessed was still a trashy Core Formation Realm. Now that he captured a high-ranked alchemist, he could easily regain his former cultivation realm by draining Wei Heng dry.

’Time to leave.’ Tang Han made sure to wipe out all traces of his presence in the scene as he used a special technique to exit the city.

The formation in the city was nothing in his eyes.

While Tang Han hastily left to find a secluded place to continue his grand plan, Ye Ming was leaning on his chair in amusement.

Next to him was Song Jing, who was asking him the type of tests he would conduct.

Ye Ming naturally didn’t catch her questions as he had just been told of Wei Heng being captured by the possessed Tang Han.

If Wei Heng was a decent alchemist with morals, then Ye Ming might have lent a hand. However, from the report that the Heavenly Dao recorded, he couldn’t help but be disgusted.

Using his alchemist status, he flaunts his might around and bullies those he dislikes. Many young women were also sullied by him, but nobody dared to find him for trouble because of his exotic status.

As if that wasn’t enough, this disgusting bastard even captured little girls and— Ye Ming paused himself here.

He couldn’t bring himself to recall what he just read and chose to calm his mindset.

"Senior Dao?" At this moment, Song Jing called out to him again.

"Ugh, just shut the fuck up." Annoyed, Ye Ming glared at her and pointed at the stairs. "Either stay silent and watch what I’ll do or scram. Nobody told you to sit next to me!"

After reprimanding her, Ye Ming turned to Lin Loi and said, "I’m going to the room now. You can have the contestant get ready."

Shortly after, he exited and no longer batted an eyelid at Song Jing.

By now, Song Jing’s face was rather complicated as she didn’t expect such an outburst from him.

"Did I say anything wrong?" She twitched her brows and glanced at her fellow elders.

The elders all shook their heads and looked clueless as well.

Seeing that they were of no help, Song Jing turned to Lin Loi, seemingly asking for her confusion to be cleared.

Lin Loi exhaled softly when she sensed her staring.

"Senior Dao was probably pondering over something and was in a foul mood. Elder Jing’s repeated questioning ended up annoying him and became the target of his venting." She calmly explained.

Had it been anyone else, Lin Loi wouldn’t bother to explain anything. But it was Song Jing, someone who had assisted her Lin Clan. She couldn’t just slight the latter and sour their relationship.

Meanwhile, Song Jing found it unbelievable that she was scolded harshly because she raised her voice at the wrong time.

"So he wasn’t actually targeting me?"

Lin Loi shook her head. "Nope, you were just unlucky and didn’t notice his complexion was turning ugly. I reckon someone or something must have displeased him dearly."

Having learned her lesson from previous incidents, Lin Loi had begun to check on Ye Ming’s types of expressions. Hence, she knew when to or when not to converse with him.

This was what others would commonly call a survival skill: bootlicking in the social interaction with your bosses!

One needs to understand their boss’ temper to ensure their survival. Otherwise, failing to do so would result in what Song Jing had received: a fierce scolding to the face.

"Elder Jing, I’m sure you have met many apprentices or people who tread carefully when interacting with you. This is just the same thing, except your role has been swamped. In front of Senior Dao, you have to bootlick him." Lin Loi gently warned, afraid of Song Jing losing her life.
