The Healing Solaris Cleric-Chapter 377: The Most Demonic Demon (4)
Chapter 377: The Most Demonic Demon (4)
Kinessa went silent. The one who had seemed ready to explode in rage just moments ago had calmed down after seeing Kai surrounded in buffs. His more cautious expression and calm gaze were proof of that.
He slowly looked around at the holy power that filled the area and asked, “What do humans call this power?”
“Holy Power.”
“Holy... Is it a power related to a god?”
Kai nodded once in place of an answer.
That seemed to clear Kinessa’s curiosity, and he continued saying, “Astonishing. Not all humans would be as strong as you... I assume you’re special.”
As he finished speaking, Kinessa took off his formal coat and tore his shirt. What was revealed was a sleek body like that of a well-trained male model.
“I realized that I might actually lose if I take this lightly.”
With that declaration, demonic magic exploded and covered his entire body.
“Is that armor?” Kai asked.
Kinessa had compressed intangible energy into a tangible form of armor.
Kinessa nodded. “I call it combat-compressed demonic magic.”
The armor made of demonic magic looked quite different from what knights usually wore. It resembled a skin-tight suit more than armor like something straight out of a sci-fi film.
Once his preparations were complete, Kinessa formed a long demonic spear and gripped it tightly.
Silence fell over the wasteland for a moment. The blowing wind was torn apart without even a scream, swept away by the demonic and holy power. Though neither of them had taken a single step, they were already clashing through their presence.
This isn’t a duel.
It was a fight of life-or-death. There were no rules like in the Duel Arena and no one to count down before the fight began. No one even declared the beginning of the fight because the fight had already begun.
The moment a small pebble rolling in the wind was reduced to dust by the demonic and holy powers...
Here he comes.
Kinessa set aside his pride as an archduke and made the first move.
Clang!
Sixteen spears rained down in a blink of an eye and Kai deflected them all.
So an archduke still is an archduke.
Kai thought Kinessa was just full of himself, but he was far stronger than expected. Though his eyes were hidden by the suit, red glowing embers trailed behind him each time he moved.
The spear’s reach is too long. I need to close the distance first.
Kai lightly flicked his left hand. “Holy Chains.”
Three strands of Holy Chains shot out from the sleeve of his left hand, and Kai flung them forward without hesitation.
The chains wrapped around the spear Kinessa was holding, and Kai immediately yanked his left hand back.
“A petty trick,” Kinessa smirked and tightly gripped the spear in his right hand.
However, his body was dragged much more easily than Kai had expected. The stat gap was simply too great.
My Strength stat is already high and it’s even higher in the Demon Realm.
Kai wrapped the chains around his left arm and continued reeling Kinessa in.
“Th-this is impossible!”
Finally realizing the difference in strength, Kinessa let go of his spear and leapt backward.
At the same time, Kai’s eyes gleamed.
Got him.
The opponent’s chest was exposed after losing their weapon. Kai instantly unsummoned the Holy Chains and kicked off the ground. He instantly closed the distance to Kinessa and brought his sword down.
“Argh!”
Kinessa caught the blade with his bare hand. The demonic suit peeled away every time the holy power touched him, but waves of new demonic magic instantly rebuilt it.
No damage?
Kai glanced at Kinessa’s remaining health and looked surprised. No matter how well Kinessa blocked, some damage should have gone through. However, Kinessa hadn’t taken any damage at all.
Don’t tell me that demonic magic suit blocks all attacks?
If that were true, things would be more troublesome than expected.
I can’t use Descent right now, so I can’t even summon Shimizu either...
The only fortunate thing was that the armor’s effect was too overpowered.
MID Online is usually fair about things like this.
An armor with that level of ability probably had a shorter duration than expected.
I just need to keep him busy until the armor wears off.
Kai continued swinging his sword with his right hand and closed the gap between them. Then he bent his left arm, and thursted his elbow forward. It struck Kinessa in the face, and that wasn’t the end.
After retracting, his elbow, he grabbed Kinessa’s head and pulled it down. At the same time, he drove his knee upward and his knee dug into Kinessa’s face. Kinessa’s head snapped backward from the impact.
Still no damage?
Even while taking the hit, Kinessa controlled his dark magic. The surrounding demonic magic turned into sharp spikes and stabbed the area where Kai had been.
Jump.
Kai used the skill embedded in the Clown’s Shoes again and moved above Kinessa. From there, he looked down at Kinessa’s tilted-back face and thrust his sword.
“Final Attack!”
That was a skill that ignored the opponent’s defense and tripled attack power!
Kai’s Holy Sword pierced straight through Kinessa’s eye.
“Huh?!”
Kinessa had always been protected by his armor, but not this time. As if overwhelmed by pain, his body convulsed like a fish flopping on land.
“Graaaaagh!”
Whether he screamed or not, Kai immediately twisted his sword in that position.
“Flood of Blades!”
Kinessa let out a high-pitched shriek hard to believe was from a man. “It hurts! It hurts! I said it huuuuurts!”
As if reflecting his unstable emotions, the demonic magic around him began to surge wildly. The chaotic flow of magic rushed straight at Kai.
“Tsk.”
Kai ultimately stepped back and began slicing through the incoming demonic waves.
“Ah— Agh!”
Kinessa collapsed on the spot and covered his throbbing eye with his palm. A stream of tears gushed from his eyes like a waterfall.
Hot.
Though his body as an archduke could endure any extreme heat, the liquid soaking his palm now felt hot.
It’s hot.
His heart and head also felt hot. A powerful urge surged through him that he would go insane if he didn’t rip that human apart right now.
“I’ll kill you!” Kinessa jumped up and charged at Kai, who was slashing at the dark magic.
“Hm?”
Kai hurriedly turned to react to the speed that was nearly twice as fast as before, but Kinessa’s hand was faster. He grabbed Kai by the collar and slammed his forehead into him.
“Kugh!”
With a stinging sensation at the tip of his nose, Kai felt someone grabbed his hair. At the same time, his vision spun.
I’m going down.
That thought was followed by a sharp pain in his back and neck. Kinessa had slammed him into the ground, and that wasn’t the end of it. Demonic magic shot up from the ground and bound Kai’s limbs. It was a clear sign that Kinessa intended to end it here.
Left? Right?
Without time to feel pain, Kai had to brace for the next strike that was sure to come.
“Noble Shield!”
As the spell was cast, a dome-shaped barrier enveloped the area around Kai’s body. It was one of the recently learned skills, originally meant to protect a wide area.
Bang! Bang!
“Fuck!” Kinessa pounded on the Noble Shield with his nails and fists like a madman.
The dignity of the archduke he had shown moments ago was nowhere to be seen.
“Argh, Sunlight’s Warmth.”
Kai instantly recovered 30% of his HP and broke free from the demonic restraints.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The durability of the Noble Shield was far higher than expected, but this was an attack from an archduke. Kai decided to act before the Noble Shield was broken.
“Solar Photon Cannon!”
Boom!
Four beams of light fired from four holy magic circles and sent Kinessa flying.
“Phew...”
At a glance, Kinessa’s remaining health was now around 65%.
Final Attack really did a lot.
Kai could probably finish things in one go if that armor just disappeared. Whenever holy power struck it, the armor briefly dissipated.
Using the Holy Sword alone won’t be enough. In that case...
There were still many skills he could use. He had no choice but to test them one by one.
Flung far away, Kinessa roared with rage as he pounded the ground, “Graaaagh!”
Each strike split the earth as if an earthquake had hit.
“Skill, Four Spears.”
Four spears appeared behind Kai’s back. It was the awakened version of the Chasing Light Arrow skill, which he had already tested against the Church of Muldine.
Kai extended his hand and pointed at Kinessa. “Solar Photon Cannon!”
Boom! Boom!
The four holy magic circles periodically emitted beams of light.
Kinessa, who was charging forward, was pushed back little by little every time he got hit.
I can see it.
At the same time, Kai’s eyes sparkled. Whenever Kinessa got hit by the Solar Photon Cannon, one side of his armor would fully open.
The moment the armor opens, I’ll stab the four spears in there, and after that...
Having come up with a plan, Kai began to count the timing from that point on.
However, Kinessa wasn’t a fool either. As the four spears floating behind Kai didn’t move at all, he began to grow wary.
He’s scheming something.
Moreover, he also became aware of how his armor opened every time he got hit by the Solar Photon Cannon.
Is he aiming for the moment the armor opens? If so...
From that point on, Kinessa started to deflect or dodge the incoming Solar Photon Cannons with his arms. He made sure Kai’s attacks never landed directly on him.
Tsk.
At this point, the one getting frustrated was Kai as he was eventually forced to keep running until Final Attack came off cooldown.
Gravity Field... definitely won’t work.
He had already tried using it. It only worked before because it was the first time and caught Kinessa off guard, but Kinessa quickly regained his senses and shattered the field.
If I could just stop him for a split second...
There was no way someone who had already been caught once by Holy Chains would fall for it again. Eventually, Kai’s racing mind thought of Petrification.
Petrification... might work.
The Archdukes of the Demon Realm were treated as raid boss monsters. It was uncertain whether the Petrification skill would work against a boss, but even one second was enough.
No, just hold him for one second.
Kai extended his hand toward Kinessa who was charging at him. “Petrify!”
Kinessa’s legs turned to stone and planted into the ground mid-stride. Bewildered, he quickly raised his demonic magic to suppress the petrification in his legs. The time that it took was only one second. It was a response time worthy of an archduke.
That’s more than enough.
Even now, someone somewhere might waste a single second meaninglessly, but to Kai, that one second was more precious than an hour.
“Solar Photon Cannon!”
The four cannons fired their projectiles directly at Kinesa’s chest.
Boom!
The immense holy power embedded in the beams completely destroyed the armor that had been covering Kinessa for the first time, but it lasted only for a split second. Dark magic quickly gathered again and began to cover his body.
Now.
It was at that moment that the four spears shot through the air like swift arrows. Before the dark magic could fully cover Kinessa’s body, the four spears pierced him first.
