Chapter 472: Chapter 472: When Will I Be Discharged?

For the next period, Nanny Sutton stayed at the hospital to take care of Paige Sterling, and couldn’t be bothered with Sarah Sutton’s affairs anymore.

But her family still informed her about Sarah Sutton’s situation.

After leaving the hospital, Sarah Sutton continued to seek out Julian Hawthorne, but he had long grown tired of her, and with no money to keep a woman he was already bored with, he naturally couldn’t be bothered with her.

Sarah Sutton fell from heaven to hell, and at this time her parents rushed over from the countryside, ignoring her cries and took her back home directly.

City folks are indeed complicated; this daughter was restless to begin with, and it’s worse in the city, so they had to take her back and quickly find her a husband to marry.

Nanny Sutton did not tell Paige Sterling about these things, thinking that mentioning it would only upset her.

She didn’t dare ask about Julian either, thinking it was all heartache for Paige, and mentioning it would only hurt her more.

Poor young lady, how could she be so unfortunate, married to such a person.

As Nanny Sutton was wiping tears for Paige, Austin Xavier came to the hospital to see her.

Seeing Nanny Sutton cry, he asked, "What’s wrong with Paige? Is she very ill?"

Nanny Sutton quickly replied, "No, no, miss is quite well physically, just heartbroken because of the son-in-law. Young Master Xavier, please don’t mention the son-in-law in front of miss, or she’ll be heartbroken again."

Austin Xavier outwardly agreed but secretly thought that not only would he mention it, but he would also emphasize the things Julian did to stab at Paige’s lungs.

Without confronting the harsh reality, how would Paige give up on Julian?

If Paige doesn’t give up on Julian, how would he have a chance?

Austin Xavier entered the ward, expecting to see Paige weak and frail, but she looked nothing of the sort.

Paige’s spirits were still high, relishing a melodramatic TV drama.

Both Austin and Nanny Sutton thought Paige was putting on a brave face because she was too shocked.

What’s the point of pretending? Is a woman that obsessed with saving face?

Austin couldn’t help but twitch his lips, "Paige."

Paige looked at him, "Nanny said you wanted to see me?"

"Yes," Austin glanced at Wayne Wright standing aside, finding him unsightly despite his plain looks.

"Have him leave; I want to speak with you alone."

Paige gave Austin a look, pondering on what he could possibly want to say.

She could guess it easily; if not for Nanny Sutton constantly worrying about her being alone and urging her to meet friends, she wouldn’t have seen Austin.

Paige chuckled, looking at Wayne, "Wayne, step out; I want to talk to Young Master Xavier alone."

Wayne acted as if he was pouring water, pretending not to hear.

Paige looked at Austin, "His hearing isn’t good, so he can’t hear you. Just say whatever; he won’t hear anyway."

Austin would have to be crazy to believe that, so he gave Wayne’s back a cold stare before giving up on making him leave.

Austin sat down, "Are you sick with anger?"

Paige, "So you’re here to laugh at me?"

Austin, "Why else would I come?"

Paige tossed the apple she was biting at Austin.

Austin caught it with his hand, then took a bite where she had, provocatively looking at her.

It was as if the two had returned to their childhood of competitive bickering, a tense but oddly harmonious atmosphere.

Wayne, serving as the bystander, was getting more visibly perturbed, putting the cup down heavily on the table with a thud.

Paige glanced at him.

Afterward, everything he did was deliberately noisy to make his presence known, just not allowing Paige and Austin to talk normally.

Austin’s face also turned sour, "Make this deaf guy leave."

Paige, "Without him here, I don’t feel safe."

Austin smirked coldly, "Afraid of me harming you?"

Paige, "I’m afraid you’ll anger me to death."

Austin, "Am I the one angering you to death? Isn’t it because of the great man you chose?"

He leaned closer to Paige, staring at her, "In the hospital, you’re probably unaware of how bold your great man has been lately, right? Not only is he out and about with Alisa, but he’s also kept plenty of women outside. After Old Master Hawthorne found out, he froze all his bank cards and kicked him out of the Hawthorne Group. Now he has nothing, like a drowned rat, just as pitiable as can be..."

Now Julian has no money, no job, and naturally can’t support any women; only Alisa remains by his side.

Even Austin hadn’t expected that once brilliant and wise Julian could be so nonsensical that Elder Hawthorne couldn’t tolerate it anymore.

Finally, Julian had brought himself to this state.

He didn’t believe that, in such a state, Paige would still be interested in Julian.

"Paige, do you still want to maintain your marriage with Julian?"

"Of course," Paige said, "I won’t divorce."

Austin’s face darkened, "Paige, are you insane? Is such a man worth holding on to?"

Paige straightforwardly said, "Even if he’s a piece of scum, I can’t bear to let go. Is this answer satisfactory, Young Master Xavier?"

"Paige, you..."

Austin stood up angrily, "Are you possessed? What has Julian done to enchant you?"

Paige didn’t speak, so Austin cruelly said, "You’re not divorcing, right? If you don’t divorce, I’ll make Julian disappear!"

The current Julian is not the same as before; it’s really easy for Austin to make him vanish.

But unless absolutely necessary, he wouldn’t harm Julian.

No matter how useless Julian is, he’s still part of the Hawthorne Family, and meddling with him would become an issue between the two families.

Hostility between the Xavier Family and the Hawthorne Family would naturally not benefit the Xavier Family.

Paige gave Austin an odd look, "Austin, even my dad doesn’t meddle as much as you. Can you just not interfere in my affairs anymore?"

"Do you think I want to meddle? You ungrateful woman, just wait till you cry!"

Saying that, he kicked the chair and stormed out, slamming the door.

Paige continued to eat her apple and watch TV, treating the moody Austin like a child.

Anyway, every time Austin tried to provoke her, he ended up getting angry at himself, and she didn’t give him any satisfaction. Yet he seemed to enjoy it, and who knows what was going through his head.

Since Austin visited Paige at the hospital, Wayne’s attitude towards her cooled significantly, and he deliberately delayed doing whatever she asked.

Whenever Paige called him, he’d act as if he didn’t hear.

This was his way of showing his displeasure to Paige.

Since Wayne ignored her, Paige ignored him too, waiting to see who could hold out longer.

In no time, Wayne couldn’t keep it up and got eager to please again.

Paige had him wrapped around her finger, knowing he couldn’t bear to stay mad at her for long. What else could he do?

In this life, there was no saving him, but maybe he could turn the tables in the next.

At the hospital, Paige basically ate and slept, having nothing to worry about. A few days in, she had gained a few pounds, and her abs weren’t as defined, feeling a bit chubby.

Paige felt a bit dissatisfied, wondering if she should be discharged soon.

She looked at Wayne, "When can I be discharged?"

Wayne, "In a while."

What does "in a while" mean? Every time she asked Wayne these days, that’s all he said.
