The Headline Queen: President Hawthorne is Her Die-Hard Fan!-Chapter 445: Went Too Far
Mrs. Hawthorne is a classic example of double standards. If Julian’s father were still alive, even if she didn’t love Mr. Hawthorne, she would never allow Mr. Hawthorne to have another woman outside. Otherwise, she would make a huge fuss in The Hawthorne Family.
But when it comes to others, she thinks it’s normal. If a wife doesn’t accept her husband’s woman outside and controls too strictly, she’s not forgiving enough, not a virtuous wife and good mother.
She restrains others with rules, but acts recklessly outside these rules herself, unable to endure even a bit of grievance. It’s as if others should comply with her rules obediently while she ridicules them for being too rule-abiding.
Paige knows she doesn’t share the same values and won’t say much to her.
So, she didn’t speak.
Mrs. Hawthorne continued, "I don’t care what you think. In any case, you are not allowed to harm this child. If you still have feelings for Julian, you should treat this child kindly from now on. Maybe when the child grows up, they’ll repay your kindness by taking care of you in your old age."
Paige then said casually, "Auntie, I haven’t opposed anything, and you’ve already said so much?"
She even smiled, "Since you like this child, you can decide. I have no objections."
Simon was somewhat surprised. Sister-in-law?
His sister-in-law doesn’t seem like such a magnanimous person. Isn’t slapping someone to death more like forgiving and generous? Why did she let the person stay?
Could there be another plan?
While thinking chaotically, he heard Paige ask, "Where’s the old master?"
Simon immediately replied, "Grandpa is feeling unwell and is resting in his room."
After the news about Julian’s accident spread, The Hawthorne Family also circulated news about the old master’s illness. Paige mainly returned to see the old master.
She feared that if the old master truly didn’t know, any mishap with his health might sadden Julian upon his return.
But when Paige entered the old master’s bedroom, she found him energetically playing Go with a robot, showing no signs of illness or being bedridden.
The comforting words she had prepared were entirely unnecessary and she ended up being comforted by the old master.
"Paige, don’t worry about the messy things outside. My eldest grandson is not that kind of person."
He was referring to Moca’s matter, "Whatever you have to do, just do it. Don’t let these trivial matters hold you back. Here in The Hawthorne Family, no matter the chaos, you have grandpa. Rest assured, the company also has Simon."
Paige nodded, still feeling somewhat moved.
Even if Mrs. Hawthorne continued making noise, she was just an insignificant person and posed no threat to her.
She was only worried that Old Master Hawthorne and Simon were oblivious.
But now it’s fine. Evidently, both grandfather and grandson support her and Julian. Moreover, after Julian’s incident, Simon has quickly grown up, taking on the significant responsibility of the Hawthorne Group. Surely when Julian returns, he’ll be pleased.
"Grandpa knows Julian’s whereabouts?"
Old Master Hawthorne shook his head, and Paige asked, "Then how do you know he’s okay?"
"In the past, I would have been worried, but now with you around, no matter what happens, he will surely come back."
Paige suddenly felt a heavy weight as if something was pressing on her chest, yet it wasn’t unpleasant.
She knew very well that the weight on her heart was Julian’s feelings for her. Previously, she had never faced these feelings so formally, but now suddenly being pointed out by Old Master Hawthorne, these feelings surged out, bringing tears to her eyes.
Old Master Hawthorne said gently, "Don’t listen to your aunt’s nonsense. We all know what you and Julian are doing is right. Grandpa supports you both."
Paige felt much better when she left The Hawthorne Family.
These days, although she appeared unchanged from before, she had always been on edge.
Now, that tension isn’t as tight. Once she sees Julian, she might be able to completely relax.
Paige returned from The Hawthorne Family to the Sterling Family, and outside the Sterling Family villa area, she saw Yvette Hughes looking worn-out, with slightly swollen eyes.
Paige knew that Yvette had been visiting the Sterling Family frequently these days. Jared Sullivan never mentioned her, but she could see Jared’s impatience with Yvette.
Clearly, he was annoyed by Yvette’s clinginess.
When Yvette saw Paige, she rushed over, fearing she’d leave.
But upon seeing Paige’s expressionless face, she felt a bit embarrassed.
"Paige, Auntie came to see you. Are you well?" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Seeing Paige remained silent, Yvette added, "I heard about The Hawthorne Family. You’re still young, the road ahead is long, so take care of yourself."
Paige replied, "Thank you, Auntie, for your concern. I’m fine."
She knew Yvette didn’t truly care for her, but since Yvette expressed concern, she couldn’t show no reaction.
Yvette said, "It’s good that you’re fine, just fine."
Seeing Paige didn’t seem to dislike her, Yvette continued concernedly, "I heard that Julian has a woman outside, and now that woman has reached The Hawthorne Family. Paige, what are your plans?"
Without a mother, Yvette felt it was her duty to worry about Paige’s matters, believing Paige should be moved.
Paige smirked.
Less than a day had passed, and it seemed everyone knew Julian had a woman outside.
It seems someone is trying to blow this up.
Who knows what their intentions are, focusing on other people’s marital issues? Maybe they have too much time on their hands.
"Auntie, these are matters of The Hawthorne Family. I don’t meddle in them."
Implying, aren’t you minding too much?
Yvette felt a bit embarrassed, "Auntie is just too worried about you, afraid The Hawthorne Family will bully you. Now The Hawthorne Family has accepted that woman, and if the child is born, won’t it be a slap in your face? What will others think of you?"
Paige glanced at Yvette, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, and said, "Auntie, she’s already pregnant. The Hawthorne Family has decided to accept her. What use is it telling me? I don’t make the decisions in The Hawthorne Family."
Yvette immediately felt sympathetic, thinking The Hawthorne Family was too much, bullying Paige this far.
"Paige, you’re alone with no one to ease your burden. It’s really tough for you. Why not do this? If you’re ever troubled, go find Skylar. She’ll surely be happy to see you, and if you have any problems, she can help you plan."
It was a reminder to Paige that if Skylar Hughes hadn’t been put in jail by her, now that Paige is in trouble, she’d at least have a sister to consult and share her worries with.
Blame it on Paige for being too harsh.
