Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Raise an Army to Seek Justice_1

Li Qing had delivered the goods to Yu Baishuo in the county town.

He was about to call Brother Gong to ask for a location, to go and have a look together.

But he suddenly received a phone call from Secretary Zhou.

"Xiao Li, do you have time? Come over to my house!"

This abrupt call made Li Qing’s heart grow heavy.

Secretary Zhou would definitely not call him for no reason.

Li Qing guessed that it might be due to the incident at the police station yesterday, maybe Secretary Zhou had heard some rumors.

It’s either a fortune or a disaster that cannot be avoided.

Li Qing steeled his courage and drove his motorcycle directly to the building where Secretary Zhou lived, and with the fruit he had just bought, he went upstairs.

The person who opened the door was Madame Lu.

Today, she was dressed in a black long dress, her hair still simply bundled up and secured with a clip.

This simple dress, coupled with her solemn makeup, made her look quite imposing.

"Sister Lu."

Li Qing smiled and nodded his head, greeting her.

When Madame Lu saw it was Li Qing, a gentle smile immediately spread across her face, "Qingzi, come in quickly."

"Your Uncle Zhou has just gone to the toilet, come in and take a seat.

Li Qing replied with a yes and entered, sitting down on the living room sofa.

Madame Lu poured a glass of water and placed it in front of Li Qing.

As she bent down, Li Qing clearly saw a glimpse of snow-white flesh swaying.

It seemed that Madame Lu’s bra was not full-cup.

As she bent over, those two mounds just dropped down, appearing almost as if she was not wearing anything at all.

"Qingzi, have some water first!"

When Madame Lu looked over, Li Qing quickly averted his gaze, nodding and responding, "Sister Lu, you don’t need to busy yourself."

"Qingzi is here?" came Secretary Zhou’s voice from the direction of the toilet.

Madame Lu gave Li Qing a gracious smile, "Then I will leave you two to chat; I’m off to cook."

Li Qing nodded his head.

Secretary Zhou, holding a white towel, wiped his hands and sat down squarely opposite Li Qing.

"Xiao Li, what happened at the police station yesterday?" Secretary Zhou asked bluntly.

It was indeed about that incident.

With a light sigh, Li Qing said, "Secretary Zhou, although the incident happened rather abruptly, it truly wasn’t our fault. The Wenguan Trees in twelve villages, hundreds of them, had almost all died. The loss is huge."

"I’ve also vaguely heard something about this from the police station, but they still haven’t completely figured it out. I’m asking about this, not to reprimand you, but because of the Wenguan Trees," said Secretary Zhou. "The people from Gong Wugu went to hassle the pesticide sellers. Do you have any suspects in mind?"

Li Qing breathed a quiet sigh of relief; he had really thought Secretary Zhou was here to reprimand him.

"We’re suspecting that it was Old Kong the Third’s doing, as the business for these villages had been transferred from his hands," Li Qing honestly told Secretary Zhou about the situation in these villages.

Secretary Zhou’s brow furrowed heavily, "Old Kong the Third? We have no need to concern ourselves with what happened between him and the Lus, but for him to take revenge by killing hundreds of trees at once, that’s truly despicable."

"With such a reckless menace among us, what talk is there of rural revitalization!"

"Just when we saw a project that could be done, he cut off the livelihood of several villages in one fell swoop, the scoundrel!"

Secretary Zhou’s anger was clear and forceful, causing the sofa to crackle with his rage.

Li Qing managed a wry smile, "Right now, we only have suspicions; we don’t have any evidence to prove that it was Old Kong the Third."

Secretary Zhou, with a grim expression darkening his face, said sternly, "Xiao Li, I will urge the local police station to speed up the investigation. If you come across any clues, be sure to inform them promptly. We must work together to root out this scourge!"

Li Qing nodded emphatically. With Secretary Zhou’s support, he immediately felt much more at ease.

If all three parties were making an effort, he refused to believe that Old Kong the Third could continue to be so elusive.

No matter how cunning he was, it was impossible for him to leave no trace behind.

"Have some tea—oh, is this just water? This woman, I swear, could’ve at least made you a cup of tea instead of serving plain hot water." Secretary Zhou glanced at Li Qing’s cup and then stood up to fetch the tea set.

"Secretary Zhou, water is fine for me," Li Qing quickly said.

"A great enterprise is like a pot of tea, young man; drink more often, it nurtures the spirit," advised Secretary Zhou.

The way he was pressing him to drink tea was so serious, Li Qing didn’t quite know how to respond and could only wait silently as Secretary Zhou prepared the brew.

"Time for lunch."

They had barely finished two cups of tea when Mrs. Lu’s voice came from the kitchen.

"Come on, let’s eat," Secretary Zhou called out to Li Qing.

The lunch was lavish, featuring dishes with both meat and vegetables, and several large pork knuckles.

"Ah, I was just saying your woman was thoughtless, only serving Xiao Li plain water. But seeing this meal, I suddenly find myself benefiting from Xiao Li’s presence," Secretary Zhou joked as he sat down. "Qingzi, you have no idea how long I’ve been craving braised pork, yet your Aunt Lu refused to make it."

"Sister! What aunt?" Mrs. Lu corrected him with a glare.

Laughing, Secretary Zhou waved his hand, "All right, all right, sister, sister, sister."

"Your Sister Lu... ah, this woman is so strange. Clearly, there is a generational difference, yet she insists on being called sister," Secretary Zhou sighed.

Mrs. Lu’s mouth twisted with irritation, "Do you have a problem with that?"

"None, how could I?" he replied with a laugh.

Secretary Zhou burst into laughter before continuing to speak to Li Qing, "Come over more often in the future, so I can also enjoy such benefits."

Li Qing cast a discreet glance at the exceptionally dignified Mrs. Lu and nodded with a smile, "I will."

Secretary Zhou laughed heartily and, with a grand wave of his hand, announced, "Let’s eat."

"Qingzi, come!" Mrs. Lu placed a pig trotter in Li Qing’s bowl. "Eat up."

"Thank you, Sister Lu. I can help myself," Li Qing said, feeling slightly uneasy.

It was truly difficult for him to reconcile the image of Mrs. Lu sitting so elegantly before him with that of the woman who had writhed on the small bed, begging Xu Keqing to touch her—the contrast was outrageous.

Li Qing suddenly realized that the women he knew often had striking contrasts.

Teacher Guan’s scholarly aura commanded respect and yet her flirting was outrageous when she chose to indulge.

Yu Lan was a bit more reserved, but once the tender and quiet woman let go, she could nearly match Teacher Guan.

Mrs. Lu before him was the same, only more wild in her indulgences.

In contrast, Tian Yue’e, who appeared flirtatious, was quite tame compared to the other three.

After lunch, Li Qing proposed his departure.

"Why the rush? Stay a little longer," Mrs. Lu suggested.

"Sister Lu, I need to go to the hospital later," said Li Qing.

He really did have to visit the hospital later to get a follow-up diagnosis from Xu Keqing to report back to Han Mei.

"Oh, you’re going to the hospital? Wait for me then. I need to go as well," Mrs. Lu said, her interest piqued.
