The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 152 Lü Zong’s Reputation_1
"You’ve got a beef with Old Kong the Third? Heh, I thought it was something serious. It’s a trivial matter."
"It just so happens that Old Gong is headed your way, I’ll give him a heads up, and he’ll sort it out for you in a jiffy."
After listening to Li Qing’s account, Lü Zong responded with nonchalance.
"Old Gong is coming over?" Li Qing asked in surprise.
On the phone, Lü Zong’s laugh was as sinister as ever, "Isn’t the festival coming up? I’ve sent Old Gong to bring you some seafood. Hanging around with me, Lü, you gotta be looked after during the holidays."
"Don’t sweat the small stuff with Old Kong the Third. If it’s yours, take it. If he pisses me off, I swear I’ll tear down his pathetic little temple!"
With these words from Lü Zong, Li Qing immediately felt a sense of security.
It wasn’t just about the couple thousand in profit that Li Yumin was hauling in the car right now – Sifang Village represented a long-term business deal.
Since there was something to fight for, Li Qing didn’t want to let it go.
"Uncle Ding, Auntie Caili, don’t worry about it; I’ve got it all figured out," Li Qing told Ding Shengwang and Auntie Caili before walking towards Li Yumin and Old Kong the Third.
"Boss Li, I’ll take these Wenguan Leaves back now; we can do more business later." Li Yumin said to Li Qing with a bitter face and a dejected tone, obviously having been intimidated and bested just moments ago.
The young man by Old Kong the Third, who had just cursed at Li Qing, scoffed, spat on the ground, and said, "You little bastard, do you think you can just snatch away the Kong family’s business? Watch where you’re going in the future."
Li Qing met his gaze coldly, "Since you’ve already collected from Sifang Village, but now they won’t sell to you, it only means you’ve been too greedy and pressed too hard on the price. Can you blame anyone else for that?"
"Since this truckload of leaves is already here, of course, I’ll have to take it! I think you’d better head back now. It’s pretty hot today; don’t get heatstroke from all the cursing out here."
The young man was about to retort but was stopped by the salt-and-pepper-haired Old Kong the Third at his side.
"Young man, are you trying to pick a fight with me?" Old Kong the Third asked with a hint of a smile playing at the corner of his mouth.
Li Qing cocked his head to the side and said lightly, "I’m not picking a fight with you; it’s you who are trying to snatch a deal that was delivered right to my doorstep."
"These days are different from the old times of brawling and bullying into buying and selling. Trade, after all, is about freedom!"
"If you really want to talk terms, it seems like it’s you, uncle, who’s come to rob me at my doorstep!"
Old Kong the Third sneered sinisterly, "You little bastard, you sure have a sharp tongue. Do you know who I am?"
"I don’t know, and I don’t care. I’m a businessman, not a robber!" Li Qing taunted.
"You sure are gutsy, you little bastard," the young man by Old Kong the Third suddenly pulled out a wrench from behind his back.
"Who the hell are you calling gutsy?" A sedan kicked up a cloud of dust and came to a stop beside them.
Down rolled the window, revealing Old Gong’s fierce face.
Seeing this, Li Qing’s heart instantly settled.
He had been somewhat anxious just now.
During the call, he forgot to ask Lü Zong how far along Old Gong was.
If he was still far away, facing Old Kong the Third, the notorious tough guy of Sanhe Town, Li Qing wasn’t sure he could come out on top.
"Old Gong?" The young man exclaimed, his expression instantly deflated.
Gong opened the car door and stepped out, "You little bastard, you still know to call me ’brother’? Get lost!"
"Gong, watch your words. That kid is part of our Kong family," Old Kong the Third said ominously.
Gong looked Old Kong the Third up and down, "You’re almost buried in the dirt, and you’re still competing with us younger folks for a living. Is that fun for you? Our boss is doing legitimate business now, yet you’re still forcing deals. You really think it’s thirty years ago?"
"Doesn’t matter if it’s thirty years ago or thirty years from now, I do my business this way." Old Kong the Third glanced at Li Qing, "This little bastard is now stealing food from my mouth; there’s no way this can end well."
"I can’t even stand here?" Gong asked with a sneer.
Old Kong the Third lifted his eyelids, gave Gong a look, and shook his head, "No, you can’t!"
"This here is Sanhe Town, not a place for you Gong to throw your weight around."
"Thirty years ago, Sanhe Town followed my lead, and now, I don’t see what’s changed."
The young man who looked a bit like Old Kong the Third next to him scoffed as well, "Outside of here, I could call you ’Gong bro’ as a sign of respect for the elderly, but here, you mangy dog better tuck your tail and behave."
"This your son?" Gong lit a cigarette and pointed at the young man as he asked Old Kong the Third.
Old Kong the Third chuckled, "Not quite, like half a son, my nephew."
"The little bastard can’t speak a single decent word, the education from you Kongs is pretty good I see," Gong said coldly.
"Oh yeah? If you’re capable, let’s see some action instead of snarling like a dog here!" Old Kong the Third’s nephew brandished a wrench and shouted loudly.
Gong glanced at Old Kong the Third’s nephew with cold eyes, then suddenly became violent.
Like a nimble leopard, he lunged over to Old Kong the Third’s nephew, grabbed him by the hair, and pressed the glowing red cigarette butt fiercely against his nephew’s forehead.
"Ah!"
Old Kong the Third’s nephew screamed pitifully, thrashing wildly, but was unable to break free from Gong’s grip.
"What are you doing?" Old Kong the Third jumped in fright and lunged towards his nephew.
Gong turned his head and calmly looked at Old Kong the Third, "You know our Lü Zong is also in the Wenguan Leaves business, right?"
"It’s a new thing, very profitable, anyone with a brain would want a piece of it," Old Kong the Third cursed disdainfully, yet his expression suddenly changed as he asked, "Did you just say Lü Zong?"
"You heard right. Boss Li supplies goods to Lü Zong, you want to muscle in on his business too?" Gong asked.
Old Kong the Third’s face fluctuated with uncertainty for a moment, he raised his hand and said, "Fine, I’ll back down, now let him go."
Li Qing stood to the side, his expression slightly changing.
It seemed that Lü Zong’s influence was significant; merely mentioning his name had subdued Old Kong the Third.
Gong threw Old Kong the Third’s nephew aside and casually stood up.
"Gong, if you have the guts, kill me today!" Old Kong the Third’s nephew had just been freed and swung his wrench towards Gong’s head.
"Kong Zhenggang, stop right there!" Old Kong the Third yelled anxiously.
Gong dodged to the side and took a step forward, his elbow slamming hard into Kong Zhenggang’s stomach.
Kong Zhenggang wailed and crashed to the ground.
"I’ll kill you!" He struggled to his feet again, roaring fiercely.
