The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 100 Hu Youyu’s Provocation_1
Seeing Hu Youyu’s actions, Li Qing’s face instantly turned cold.
"Old bastard, are you looking for death?"
He casually picked up a clod of soil from the ground and strode towards Hu Youyu.
"Little piece of crap, what do you think you’re doing?"
Hu Youyu, upon seeing this, let out a shout and started to run.
"Old dog, you’ve got nerve, don’t run, see if I can bury you alive right here? Don’t think I don’t know about you splashing manure on my family’s front door, old dog, just you wait!" Li Qing roared ferociously.
There’s an additional enmity when enemies meet.
Just for that moment, Li Qing truly felt the urge to beat Hu Youyu to death on the spot.
But remembering his sister-in-law and the better days they had just started to have, he forcefully held back.
This matter should be left to Lü Zong to handle.
After all, he had already promised and likely wouldn’t break his word.
After glowering fiercely at the swiftly receding figure of Hu Youyu, Li Qing finally arrived at Han Mei’s home.
As soon as he entered, he felt there was a strange atmosphere in the yard.
Normally at this time, Han Mei and Tian Yue’e would already be cooking, and the courtyard would be full of the smell of food.
But now, the yard was eerily quiet, and there was a low sobbing coming from the main room.
"Sister-in-law!"
Li Qing called out and stepped towards the main room.
"Is Qingzi back? I’ll go cook!" Han Mei called out in a low voice, her head bowed as she tried to pass beside Li Qing.
Li Qing noticed something was not quite right with Han Mei’s mood.
He slightly furrowed his brow, grabbed Han Mei’s arm, and asked, "Sister-in-law, what’s wrong?"
"Nothing, I’m just a bit tired today," Han Mei continued to lower her head, as if she were afraid that Li Qing would see her face.
Li Qing turned to Tian Yue’e sitting beside them, "Yue’er, what exactly happened?"
"Isn’t it because of Hu Youyu, that old villain!" Tian Yue’e cursed angrily.
Han Mei nervously glanced at Tian Yue’e and blinked repeatedly.
"Sister-in-law, what did Hu Youyu do?" Li Qing asked anxiously.
It was clear at a glance that something was deeply wrong with Han Mei’s emotions.
"Might as well tell Qingzi, keeping it in will only make him more anxious," Tian Yue’e advised Han Mei.
Han Mei pressed her lips tightly together, shaking her head repeatedly.
"Oh, I’ll say it," Tian Yue’e, unable to watch any longer, stood up and said, "That old bastard Hu Youyu is bragging about his connections in town, threatening to report your sister-in-law and even came close to hitting someone."
"What happened? What could he possibly report my sister-in-law for?" Li Qing asked in shock.
What could Han Mei have done for that old bastard Hu Youyu to catch her doing something reportable?
"It was two wild pheasants. I don’t know what got into those beasts; they just crashed into the nets in the vegetable garden, getting tangled in the wires," Tian Yue’e said angrily, "Your sister-in-law and I were just pulling the pheasants off the net when that old bastard Hu Youyu happened to see us."
"He immediately started shouting, claiming your sister-in-law and I were poaching and said he would report us to the town authorities."
"That would’ve been tolerable, but then he got physical, lunging to snatch the wild pheasants from our hands, claiming they were evidence of our poaching."
"Hu Youyu also said the vegetable garden belongs to your sister-in-law, so she’s the mastermind, and I’m her accomplice, caught red-handed, and that he would have us both locked up."
"We didn’t even intend to kill those two wild pheasants; it was Hu Youyu who, in the struggle, ended up killing them by twisting their necks."
Li Qing’s face turned livid with rage. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
No wonder when he stumbled upon him just now, that old thing was carrying two wild pheasants.
It turned out he actually robbed them from his sister-in-law!
Li Qing already had a simmering wrath in his heart, and upon hearing this, rage surged to the edge of his gall, anger rising from within.
"Qingzi, there’s nothing serious, don’t act rashly!" Han Mei, who knew Li Qing’s temper all too well, grabbed his arm in a flash.
Looking at Han Mei’s clearly tear-stained eyelids, Li Qing felt a sharp stab in his heart.
Right now, he just couldn’t wait to rush over and chop that old thing into pieces.
But seeing the worry in Han Mei’s eyes, Li Qing forcefully restrained himself from displaying his anger.
"Sister-in-law, are you alright?" Li Qing asked with concern, "Were you hurt?"
"It’s nothing serious, just got shoved a few times by that old thing, and both of us got scratched by the wire fence." Tian Yue’e said, "Actually, what’s most troubling now is, if Hu Youyu really goes to report this, we are indeed likely to be in trouble."
"The pheasants died by Hu Youyu’s hand, but he has connections in town, and they might blow things out of proportion. Your sister-in-law and I might really face jail time."
Li Qing’s complexion immediately darkened.
Hu Youyu had always been one to make a big deal out of nothing, and this situation was all but certain to occur.
In fact, wild pheasants were already overabundant.
To the common people, they were nothing but pests.
The local authorities generally took an approach of not investigating unless there was a complaint.
But if someone actually did file a report, the police station would certainly get involved.
A fine coupled with the risk of imprisonment would be absolutely unavoidable.
"Sister-in-law, Yue’er. Don’t be too nervous. When the time comes, insist that Hu Youyu was the one who crushed the pheasant to death. This matter, although indeed troublesome, doesn’t mean the police station will defame us just because of Hu Youyu’s influence," Li Qing soothed.
"We didn’t intentionally hunt them down; those two foolish birds flew into the net themselves."
"The police always look for evidence in matters like these; it’s not as if they’ll take whatever Hu Youyu says as fact."
Tian Yue’e seemed to have an epiphany, saying, "Right, who could have expected the pheasant to crash headfirst into the vegetable garden’s net? It sought its own death; how could it be blamed on us?"
"When the time comes, we’ll just tell the truth. We didn’t do anything, and the pheasants were still crushed by Hu Youyu."
Han Mei’s expression eased a bit, but she still spoke with worry, "But we can’t clear ourselves of this matter."
"For no reason at all, how did we get entangled in such a mess, sigh..."
"Sister-in-law, don’t worry, I’ll go have a look at Hu Youyu’s place in a bit," Li Qing comforted.
"Don’t go!" Han Mei immediately objected.
"You and Hu Youyu have already made such a scene; if you go, he might escalate things even further."
Li Qing smiled reassuringly, "Sister-in-law, this time I’ll go there politely, and I can even apologize for past issues. I can distinguish the severity of the situation."
"At the very least, I can probe Hu Youyu’s intentions to see how he’s planning to stir up trouble for us."
Han Mei pursed her lips tightly, "Then you... be somewhat careful, and make sure to control your temper."
"Alright."
The three of them had a gloomy meal, after which Li Qing left Han Mei’s house.
He first stopped by his own home and took an axe from the firewood shed, carrying it in his hand as he walked toward Hu Youyu’s place.
He had no intention of speaking nicely to Hu Youyu.
The spokesperson was the axe in his hand.
This old dog was simply too much!
