“I’ve told you that we’re okay now, Tina. There’s no need to drive so fast, at least let me open the gate first,” Zhang Lisheng who was sitting on the passenger’s seat took out the black remote control he snatched from Rudolph and said while forcing a smile, as he opened the gate. What he said seemed to work a little bit, whereby Tina slowed down slightly. However, she stepped on the accelerator to the maximum as soon as the gate was opened. A low rumble came off as she rushed out of the pitch black road outside the gate.
“Okay Tina, I know you’re in a hurry to get back to New York City but could you at least turn on the lights?” Zhang Lisheng seemed to sense something was off. He reminded and said nothing more. She drove the pick-up truck to its speed limit on the empty road towards New York. They began driving pass other cars when they were close to New York City. The existence of cars would mean there were drivers in those vehicles. Tina’s worked up emotion seemed to have calmed down, ever since she saw people. She began slowing down and no longer driving as insane as she was.
As she blended into the traffic and drove along the ring road into New York Brooklyn, Zhang Lisheng who had been quiet along the journey sitting on the passenger’s seat spoke all of a sudden, “Tina, pull over somewhere along the street and drop me.”
Tina was stunned and pulled over slowly. Zhang Lisheng took out all of the cash in his pocket and put it on the dashboard. He only left a few coins for himself, “Tina, thanks for everything you did for me. We were supposed to have a lobster dinner, but unfortunately so much happened. I suppose you’re unwilling to dine with me now. It’s okay, I understand your feeling. I’ll leave the money for you, reward yourself tonight. Also, I would like you to know that I’m completely different from scums like Rudolph. I wouldn’t hurt anyone for fun, let alone my friends. Those people who I treated cruelly deserve the ‘treatment’ that I gave. I hope to see you again, my friend.”
Zhang Lisheng opened the door after he was done speaking and walked onto the street without turning his head. Tina’s mouth opened slightly as she watched him leave. She was going to scream but the terrifying scenes flashed by her eyes. She swallowed her scream that was reaching her mouth, back into her stomach.
Walking on the chilly New York street, Zhang Lisheng arrived at the bus station. He finally arrived at Lowbige community on the bus that was stopping everywhere. It was almost 9 p.m. when he walked into the house. Lili was the only one in the living room on the first floor. She was watching tv alone, while Sullo was working overtime. Those kids who recovered from the grief they had for Michelle’s misfortune were having fun out there. They would not come back until their curfew at 10 p.m…
Lili stood up from the couch hearing the door being opened. Seeing that it was Zhang Lisheng who was walking into the house, she ran to hug her son as she said, “Baby you’re back, was it a happy date today?”
“It wasn’t a date mom,” Zhang Lisheng thought to himself and said, “That lady’s my broker, I went with her to purchase a small slaughterhouse in Kaiserland Town that’s close to New York City.”
“What did you say?” Lili was stunned for a moment and asked in shock.
“This is what happened. I realized there’s a huge business opportunity in New York’s meat industry through working at Dan Souza Butcher Shop. I happened to have some… you know, some pension, so I bought a small slaughterhouse in Kaiserland Town. It’s a town outside of Brooklyn that’s an hour drive away. However, don’t worry that I would slack on my studies because I’m planning to join Kaiserland Town’s National Farmers Union. I’ll be running the business in a self-service way, whereby the farmers would use the slaughterhouse on their own. In other words, I’ll get the farmers to use those automated machines in the slaughterhouse to slaughter their livestock and they’ll pay me for machine rental. The preliminary calculation would be 50 dollars per pig, 150 dollars per cow and 40 dollars per lamb. I’ll be setting up some surveillance in the slaughterhouse. The farmers could register themselves online if they’re renting the slaughterhouse to slaughter their livestock on their own. They’ll prepay the rental fee and come according to the time they registered. It’s remote management with an order, what do you think?” Zhang Lisheng dissimilated Tina’s suggestion and said without stopping.
Lili took a long time to digest the information given by Zhang Lisheng slowly and said while having her jaw dropped, “What… What do I think… Wow, I think… I think my son’s perfect to be living in America. You adapt to your environment even more than your siblings who grew up in America! Stephen and Randy were still stealing money from Sullo’s wallet when they were your age, but you’ve started your slaughterhouse business now. Mom’s so proud of you, but how much did you purchase the slaughterhouse?”
“105,000 dollars, it’s very cheap.”
“How much?” Lili asked in exclamation.
“105,000 dollars, we’ve signed the deal today. This is the contract,” Zhang Lisheng took out the contract from his pocket and handed it over to Lili as he spoke calmly.
“Oh… oh, I know you’ve been very independent my baby. But… But 105,000 dollars is a huge number, “Lili took over the contract and said while looking at it, “Don’t… Don’t you think you should discuss with me?”
“Do you know anything about slaughtering business, mom?”
“I don’t but…”
“But I do, this business would definitely be the foundation of my career.”
“But isn’t your goal to be a biologist?”
“That’s why I must make money to invest in the most advanced biology lab in the world without depending on those rich, but stupid donors.”
“Oh baby, you sure think far ahead. Okay, since you’ve already thought so far ahead and spent so much to purchase a slaughterhouse, there’s nothing that I could say. I’ll just do everything I can to help you…”
“Thanks, mom but I’ve got everything under control at the moment, there’s nothing that you can do for help. I just hope that you could give me some freedom and let me learn to drive. I’ll buy myself a car. Although it’s remote management, I’ll need to drop by Kaiserland Town frequently.”
“Of course I could promise you that, my baby. Do you have money to get a car and a license…”
“Yes, I still have 5,000 dollars in my savings. That should be able for me to get what I want.”
“You sound like you’ve got everything under control. Wow, suddenly I feel like my son has grown up and independent. This is unbelievable. Two months back, I was worried that you couldn’t adapt to life in America, but now you’ve found yourself a beautiful broker, bought a slaughterhouse and began your road to entrepreneurship. That… That’s just too amazing.”
“Mom, it’s just a slaughterhouse. At my age, some American kids already built their online companies and ready for listing.”
“But those kids who built online companies are somebody else’s kids and you’re my baby. Mom’s proud of you, I’m proud of your spirit to take the first step in fulfilling your great dream. Remember, I’ll always have your back baby. No matter what kind of trouble you might have in the future, I hope that you could tell me anytime.”
“Thanks, mom,” Zhang Lisheng hugged Lili feeling touched and said, “I need your help now. I haven’t had dinner, could you make me a shepherd’s pie?”
“Oh, of course, baby,” Lili walked to the kitchen quickly, “Didn’t you have dinner with your beautiful broker after the deal was done?”
“I have some misunderstanding with her, we might not meet any longer.”
“Oh baby, do you want to talk about it?”
“No mom, I’ve told you many times. I’m not as weak as you think.”
“Of course, my little factory owner. Apart from shepherd’s pie, do you want me to bake you a chocolate cake? I bought fresh chocolate sauce and ice-cream today.”
“That’s not necessary mom,” Zhang Lisheng said while forcing a smile. He finished the shepherd’s pie that Lili made in a few gulps and said goodnight to her who was nagging at him to eat slowly. He then went upstairs immediately and returned to his room. He shut the door and hopped onto his bed in a few steps. Subsequently, he took out Mountoad from his backpack and put it at his window. After sitting comfortably, he began cultivating the Rank-2 Wizard secret method as usual.
Just when he shut his eyes to focus, a lively Demon’s chest appeared in his head clearly instantly. However, he could not build the internal and external circulation with his wizard worm no matter what.
“As expected, I can’t use the Rank-2 Wizard’s secret method cultivation once I broke through to Rank-3 Wizard,” Zhang Lisheng mumbled to himself after experimenting that and began cultivating the Rank-3 Wizard secret method. Sensing the secret method, the wizard worm that seemed a little grim and terrifying under the moonlight opened its huge mouth and spat a mouthful of black breath. It covered Zhang Lisheng entirely.
In the next second, a pair of gigantic arms grew out of the Demon’s chest in his head. It was illusory, as they moved lightly. Following the moving of arms, the witchcraft power in Zhang Lisheng’s blood began to flow slowly. Tens of illusory strange worms turned the impurities in his body into black smoke and released out of his eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. As the black smoke flew out, it flowed straight into Mountoad’s huge mouth. The first Rank-3 Wizard secret method cultivation’s internal and external circulation was completed.
As soon as the circulation was completed, Zhang Lisheng fell into cultivation mode, until the next morning as if he fell asleep.
