The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 173: Yvette Aston and Jayden Grant’s Past
Office.
Jayden Grant opened the folder with Yvette Aston’s name on it and stared at her ID photo for a long time.
This was the only photo of Yvette taken after her release from prison, taken when she joined the company.
He saved the photo in his encrypted folder, looking at past photos and videos of him and Yvette for a long, long time.
Jayden Grant knew he couldn’t forget Yvette, how could he possibly forget?
He just hated Yvette for betraying him, hated Yvette for stubbornly confessing and going to jail five years ago.
Hated Yvette for using self-harm as a way to get back at him.
Before the scandal of her being a fake heiress broke out, Yvette’s personality was gentle, as pure and budding as a white rose.
In the encrypted album, there’s a special folder Jayden uses to secretly store old photos of him and Yvette.
Charlotte Summers thought Jayden had deleted them all, but Jayden had hidden them.
In the photos, fourteen-year-old Yvette wore a school uniform skirt, smiling innocently, leading cheers on the playground.
She was always so dazzling, white as if glowing.
Even with so many people on the playground, Jayden could always spot her in a crowd.
At that time, boys in the class would enter sports events just to get a closer look at Yvette leading the cheers.
"Jayden Grant, go Jayden Grant, go!"
Over the past five years, Jayden watched that video file over and over again.
Yvette held pom-poms in her hands, cheering on the playground for Jayden Grant.
That day, he participated in the 4x400m relay, fell behind in the second and third legs, but Jayden turned the tide in the final leg.
Just because he heard Yvette leading the cheers for Jayden Grant on the playground.
Back then, he and Yvette weren’t together yet.
In those youthful times, their feelings were innocent, filled with simplicity, without schemes or calculations, eyes only for the beloved white rose.
That cold ray of moonlight.
"Yvette, the goddess of class three!"
The next video was Yvette’s solo dance at the closing ceremony of the sports meet.
Fourteen-year-old her, budding yet so breathtakingly beautiful that it took people’s breath away and one couldn’t look away.
From childhood to adulthood, wherever Yvette went, she was always the most brilliant star.
On stage, Yvette wore a white ballet costume, dancing a solo.
She danced on stage, silence fell over the audience, only to erupt in cheers at the end.
"Jayden, do you like Yvette? Why are you recording her?"
"Yeah, hahaha, Jayden definitely likes Yvette!"
The video was recorded by Jayden from the audience, classmates teasing him.
"I do like Yvette, stay away from her from now on." Jayden candidly admitted he liked Yvette.
"Tom Ziegler from class eight also likes Yvette!"
"Tch." Jayden scoffed, and immediately the video started teasing. "Jayden, your goddess finished dancing, quickly go give water, hurry up."
Then became a commotion.
...
When the video ended, Jayden leaned back against his chair in silence for a long time.
Those youthful feelings were enough to leave a deep mark on Jayden’s heart.
The following photos were all of Yvette.
Some in the classroom, some in the dance room.
In short, back then, Jayden seemed to always have his camera following Yvette.
"Yvette, let’s be together, I’ll look after you from now on."
The next video showed classmates teasing.
Yvette sat on the table, her delicate yet somewhat immature face pale without color.
Her hair a bit messy, her clothes soaked, clearly bullied.
She timidly raised her head to glance at Jayden, spoke quietly. "No... can’t date early."
"We’re in high school; what’s early dating?" Jayden smiled sitting on Yvette’s desk. "Be with me, I can always protect you."
Yvette nervously clenched her fingers, lowered her head in silence amid the clamoring.
Jayden shouted impatiently. "All of you shut the hell up."
The class quieted down, Jayden looked at Yvette.
After a long time, Yvette carefully nodded, her face red.
Immediately after, the class started commotion again.
"But... study hard, get into A University, you can’t... fall behind." Yvette looked up at Jayden. "I can tutor you."
Jayden slumped on Yvette’s desk. "I’ll study if you tutor me."
Yvette’s smile was really beautiful back then, without impurities, her eyes always sparkling. "Okay, then you try to be second in class this time."
"Why not first?" Jayden asked.
"Because I’m first." Yvette said naturally, not boastfully but assured.
Back then, she was both beautiful and confident.
Confident that Jayden couldn’t surpass her grades.
No one could surpass her grades.
Yet that very confident Yvette...
Led to her future fate.
"Yvette, I will always protect you."
...
Office of Ethan Grant.
Seeing the photos and videos Jayden opened, Yvette almost wished she could crawl into a hole.
How could Jayden still keep these...
While Ethan stood there, his face terrifyingly dark.
Christopher Carter sensed danger, quickly escaped.
Zane Quinn was still a bit slow on the uptake.
"He’s full of crap!" Ethan cursed darkly.
Obviously, he was cursing the Jayden in the video who promised Yvette he would always protect her.
Yvette lowered her head, eyes reddening.
Some memories are the ones she least wants to recall.
Hearing the always steady and courteous Ethan shockingly curse Jayden...
"Sister-in-law looks really pretty, always a beauty since childhood." Zane dared to murmur.
"Get out." Ethan grabbed Zane and threw him out.
Zane stood outside the office, puzzled. "Is this his asking attitude?"
Christopher patted Zane’s shoulder. "Just get used to it, get used to it."
"Your Mr. Grant took the wrong medicine recently?" Zane teased.
"Mr. Grant’s been acting strange lately, Jayden and Arthur have been pushing him too hard." Christopher sighed, it’s all those messed up Grant Family issues. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Zane smirked, only Christopher the fool couldn’t see it, their Mr. Grant was clearly... in heat.
"Ethan’s heat came a bit late." Zane said broadly.
"Please watch your mouth." Christopher covered Zane’s mouth, trying to stop him from blabbering.
Zane sat on the sofa outside. "You know, sister-in-law really is good-looking."
Christopher hesitated then realized Zane meant Yvette when he said sister-in-law. "Did Mr. Grant tell you? About him and Yvette’s agreement marriage?"
"Agreement?" Zane squinted his eyes.
Ethan played quite the trick.
Christopher immediately raised his hand to cover his mouth, oh crap... did he let it slip?
...
Office.
Yvette trembled hiding in a corner, almost wedging herself into the wall.
Afraid Ethan might dislike her for being involved with Jayden, Yvette choked out, "Mr. Grant... Jayden and I never... never slept together."
Jayden really hadn’t touched her.
Actually, back then, Jayden had cherished her quite a bit.
He said he would wait until marriage to touch her, otherwise it would be taking advantage.
