The Grand Duke's Son Is A Heretic-Chapter 468
"Can you stop looking at me like that?" Roosevelt spoke while sweating buckets.
Kael's dreadful gaze was fixed on him, sharp and cold, as if Roosevelt had killed his entire family.
"It's not my fault that I suddenly got stronger. I am still not used to it."
"I see…" Kael nodded slowly, his eyes never leaving Roosevelt. Then he spoke again.
"In that case, why don't you let me crack your head?"
"What the hell? Have some decency! I am the Emperor now!" Roosevelt freaked out and instinctively took half a step back.
Knowing this psycho, he might really do it. After living with this guy for months in the virtual world, Roosevelt knew very well that there was no guarantee Kael was joking.
Hearing this, Kael raised his hand and pointed straight at Roosevelt's face.
"Does it look like I am joking? I am hell serious, you bastard!"
"Also, I don't give a shit if you are the Empire or not. Don't expect any respect from me," Kael cursed openly.
Every time he saw this bastard, who shot up from S rank to SSS rank like it was a joke, Kael felt an uncontrollable urge to punch his face.
'Wait… Wait…'
'So is this what those Gods felt when they saw me growing up.'
' Then did they backstab me out of sheer jealousy?'
Now that he thought about it, it certainly made sense.
And that realization only made Kael frown even more deeply.
Seeing Kael's expression darken, Roosevelt felt a strong sense of déjà vu and almost stepped back on instinct.
"Kael, can you stop scaring him?" Martina intervened quickly, placing herself between them.
Kael's expression softened slightly as he glanced at her. "How can an S rank scare an SSS rank?"
"..."
'Say that again after seeing the murderous aura you are releasing,' Roosevelt wanted to shout, but he wisely kept his mouth shut.
Kael then turned fully toward Martina and asked in a calmer tone, "Now that you have become so much stronger while I am left behind, you aren't going to break up with me, right?"
"Ffuu!" Martina chuckled softly and shook her head before speaking.
"If you want to be my husband, you need to prove yourself now. Work hard, my dear."
Kael could only shake his head helplessly, a faint smile appearing on his face.
"Okay then, let's get to the point. What do I need to do?"
"Good question!" Roosevelt clapped his hands and gestured for Pleard to bring the map.
A large map of the Heizen Empire and the Nightstar Empire was unfolded on the table in front of them.
Kael leaned forward, his eyes scanning the world map and the marked patches of land.
Roosevelt pointed toward the northeastern border.
"The entire border is at war. We have gotten a firm hold on the northern region, but the eastern side is a mess. The nobles from the east have formed a resistance."
"Whose territory is this?" Kael asked, tapping a specific area on the map.
"Duke Serpentine."
"Then doesn't he handle this?" Kael asked, raising a brow.
"It's not that simple. His forces aren't enough," Roosevelt replied. "I am going to give you the charge of the Iron Hounds. Along with the Duchy Knights, we will have enough forces to tackle them."
"I want you to wipe the nobles."
Kael stared at the map for a long moment, thinking carefully. Then he spoke.
"You don't want to turn this into a full-blown war, right?"
"Yes. The soldiers should surrender as long as the heads roll."
"What's the top strength?" Kael asked.
"One SSS rank, three SS ranks, and seven S ranks."
Kael clicked his tongue.
"That's some firepower. So except for the Duke, I need to handle the others."
"Yes."
Kael folded his arms and nodded. "Okay."
"However…" Kael paused and then turned toward Martina. "You need to give me full reins."
Then he looked at her properly and asked, "Why don't you accompany me?"
Martina shook her head solemnly. "I want to, but I can't control my power."
"How bad can it ca—"
Crack!
Kael froze when he saw the cup in Martina's hand shatter the moment she touched it.
"I can't even open doors or hold my sword properly because things keep snapping!" she said with frustration.
For the second time that day, Kael felt deep jealousy rise in his chest.
'Old coot, why don't you just die and give me this power?'
.....
Meanwhile, deep inside the prison of the Capital.
A man wearing a dark cloak walked silently through the corridor. As he passed the guards, they fell asleep one by one, completely unaware, unable to see through the concealment.
Inside, a group of men were chained together, their bodies weak and battered.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Hearing the sound of footsteps, they slowly lifted their heads.
A man dressed in inquisitor attire walked toward them.
"Get up. It's time to move."
"Huh?"
"You… Who are you?" one of them asked warily.
"I am an Inquisitor from Group Seven. I can't relay more since I am not sure we can all make it out, seeing your condition."
"But how did you manage to enter here?" another asked.
"The security is lax. All forces are concentrated at the Royal Palace, and they think you are abandoned."
"Did the Church really send people to rescue us?"
"Yes."
Hearing this, the fear that had been shaking their hearts finally eased.
"I knew the Goddess wouldn't abandon us…"
"Yes." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
The man unlocked their chains, healed them slightly, and gestured for them to follow.
As they walked out, they saw the guards sleeping soundly.
"Stop wasting time. We need to move quickly, or they will wake up. The effect of the sleeping gas won't last long."
He led them through a secret tunnel that opened into the sewage system, which finally led them out of the Capital.
"Ahahaha!"
"We are free!"
"Finally!"
"Wait. Before we leave, I want to confirm one thing."
The man stopped and turned back slowly.
"The plan you know isn't leaked, right?"
"..."
A brief silence lingered.
"That… Yes. We didn't reveal the entire plan."
"Then how much did you reveal? I am asking because I need to send a message so the higher-ups can act."
"By the time we reach them, it will be late, so cough it up."
A crushing pressure descended upon them.
They looked at each other before speaking.
"We revealed that we knew everything about the attack and didn't do anything. Rather, we were sent to make sure Heizen was damaged properly."
"We would escape, wait for it to finish, and then start the cleanup."
"But that's it. We didn't reveal the crux of the plan."
"Then what is the crux of the plan?"
"That to—" the man paused and glanced at the others.
"Didn't that voice sound familiar?"
"Of course it would, because it's me."
Everyone turned toward the voice.
Their faces drained of color as they saw the figure standing before them.
"AHHHHHHHH!"
