They were not a thousand horses. They were just a hundred warriors, but no one who saw them doubted that they were not an army.

They were as loud as an army, they kicked up as much dust as an army, and they looked as imposing as an army. By Loki’s definition, this made them an army.

"If they can run here on their two feet instead of taking a vehicle, they should be able to come here to participate in a fight to the death without armor. Wasn’t it a matter of pride not to use any technology and only rely on their body?"
