Jin Xianglan stopped midway when she was about to go through the eye-authentication process. Quickly, she picked up her phone. What she heard stunned her. She turned around slowly and stared directly at Jin Xiangdong.
Ian, who was disguised as Jin Xiangdong, knew that his cover was blown. He reacted quickly and dragged Lu Jia’er and ran away.
Jin Xianglan went after them as she called for security on her phone.
Lu Jia’er ran with Ian. Memories of their time together swarmed back to her mind. Back then, when she could not see, she would hang out with him and he would take her hands and they would run together. Their two joyous laughter strewn like pleasing bells on the road behind them…
But this was not the moment to look back on the beautiful times they spent together in their youth. The footsteps coming toward them made them panic. All Lu Jia’er could feel was that her hand was in his, tightly, and she hastened her steps with him.
At the corner, Ian took Lu Jia’er to the right. “This way!”
However, they soon found themselves at a dead-end. It was a wall up ahead, and to their right, a lab with no signs on it. The door was closed.
Without any hesitation, Ian took Lu Jia’er into the lab. He pulled out a pass and swiped it on the access control. Then, he looked into the eye scanner.
It came as a surprise to Lu Jia’er that the door was opened. Ian dragged her inside.
“I will go and distract them!” Ian said to Lu Jia’er.
“Ian!” Lu Jia’er stopped him. “I was invited here by Professor Jin Xianglan. I would be a better fit to distract them!”
“Well…” Ian suddenly remembered this fact.
“I will go!” Lu Jia’er began to leave without further ado.
“Jia’er!” Ian tried to stop her.
Lu Jia’er looked back at Ian. Ever since she recovered her memory, she had not spoken with Ian. Finally, they had the chance to meet and yet, the timing was not proper. This was not the moment for them to catch up. Lu Jia’er smiled at Ian. “Don’t worry! I know what to do.”
Lu Jia’er hurried away. She looked at the surveillance camera and there was no red light blinking. Ian must have backed some cameras so that it would be easier for her. So, Lu Jia’er rushed to the corner and sat down on the ground.
The security guards came over. Lu Jia’er held her wrist, pretending that she had been injured.
Two security guards pointed their guns at Lu Jia’er while the other two security guards turned then went to the left.
Jin Xianglan ran over and asked the security guards to put away their guns. She squatted down and asked Lu Jia’er, “Professor Lu, are you okay?”
“I am fine. But what was going on just now?” Lu Jia’er breathed heavily.
“Ace was knocked out in the bathroom. The one that took you away was an impostor! Or, we can say an invader!” Jin Xianglan looked very serious.
“An invader? The research center has been invaded? How is Ace doing?” Lu Jia’er blurted out a string of questions.
“Let’s talk about this when we get back home tonight. I will ask him to escort you to the gate.” Jin Xianglan said.
Lu Jia’er had no other choice but to nod. “Okay!”
Jin Xianglan pulled Lu Jia’er, who was still sitting on the ground, up. The latter left with a security guard. Soon, she turned around secretly because she was trying to find out where Jin Xianglan had been off to.
Jin Xianglan and the other security guard did not go to the left, but the lab on the right.
Lu Jia’er could not help but feel nervous. Ian was still in that lab.
