The Gigolo System in the Academy of Magic-Chapter 31: Ryan Everheart vs Amon
Chapter 31 - Ryan Everheart vs Amon
After the snake-faced demon had been roasted into near-unconsciousness by Kira Nocturne's Twin Flame Dragon, a tense silence filled the arena. The crowd was still recovering from the shock of her overwhelming victory when the next contestant from the demon side prepared to step forward.
The beautiful fox demon was about to stand up, when a shadow passed by her.
A heavy voice echoed in the silence. "I'll go."
The red-skinned demon stepped forward, eyes gleaming gold under the arena lights. Every movement was slow, deliberate, as if the entire space bent to accommodate his presence. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
The crowd stirred.
"Huh? That demon... he's going up now?"
"Isn't he their level 3 mage?"
"Why so soon? Isn't this out of order?"
All eyes turned to the arena. Kira stood at the edge, her face expressionless. She didn't even look at Amon and just began to step down from the stage.
"I give up," she said flatly.
Amon, the red-skinned demon, paused mid-step. His golden eyes shone as he watched the back of the raven-haired girl but then he walked calmly into the arena.
Selena's eyes twitched. This was unexpected. However, she quickly composed herself and said:
"Kira Nocturne has forfeited. Next match—Ryan Everheart."
In the corner of the crowd below, a flash of light passed by James' eyes. He could guess the demon's intentions, clearly he wasn't confident in his teammates, so instead of giving up free victories, his plan was to end it quickly.
This demon was very arrogant, but James didn't mind.
In fact, James was excited to see Ryan get beat up.
If he was facing an ordinary level 3 mage, Ryan, who was in the late stage of level 2, would have a chance to turn the tides. But looking at the way the other demons were surrounding Amon, James could tell he was not a weak figure.
Contrary to the human realm where status was based on your family, the demon realm was much cruder, everything was based on power. If you were strong, then it didn't matter where you were from or who your parents were, you would be respected.
Unlike here, where a civilian genius could only go so far before they met an impassable barrier, the only way forward would be to marry into a noble family.
Actually, James had a certain appreciation for demons, while they may be brutal in many ways, they don't try to hide their brutality under the guise of civility.
James leaned toward Professor Helene. "Professor... who is that demon?"
Helene gave him a sidelong look. "Is that your question for today?"
James groaned. "Seriously?"
But Helene's tone lightened. She reached out and gently patted his shoulder, smiling with a twinkle in her eyes. "Don't worry, young man. I'll tell you."
James smiled bashfully, though inwardly he was wary.
She was very friendly towards him which was unusual but what was even more unusual was the system notifications at this time.

[Helene Ashvane [3(Stranger)] ]
It's decreasing!
James couldn't help but wonder if the system was giving him defective products!
The pleasurable touch spell was clearly making Helene suspicious of him. But he didn't understand, Selena and Helene were both level 6 mages but how come the instant love contract worked so well last time?
James wondered if he was too hasty.
Alas! The allure of affection points were too strong!
Afterall, he is just a poor student now, he only had the support of a level 6 professor...
Clearly right now Helene was very suspicious of him, but James trusted the system. He was certain Helene wouldn't find any evidence of the spell. So as long as he doesn't do anything to further her suspicions, the next logical step would be to conclude she has special feelings for him right?
That she was feeling strange when she touched him because she liked him, right?
James didn't know if he was trying to delude himself, but the thought of affection points quickly allowed him to convince himself.
At this time, Helene's voice snapped him back to reality.
"His name is Amon," she said, referring to the red-skinned demon. "As for the last name... well, that's a secret. Haha!"
She motioned toward Ryan, now climbing the steps to the arena.
"That boy... he's the strongest in your year, right?"
It seemed as though she didn't know who Ryan was.
James sneered in his mind. Do you really think I believe that? I asked you for information, and now you're trying to get information out of me?!
Good job! You came to the right person!
James began spilling everything he knew about Ryan: his status, the Everheart family's political goals, who his friends were, his grades, what he ate for lunch everyday.
Helene's expression flickered with interest.
[Favorability +1]
"Huh... you can do it like that?" James muttered in mind. He checked the system again—no affection points.
'Tch, no reward? I've been scammed.'
Meanwhile, the arena had gone quiet. Ryan Everheart stood upright and calm, with cheers of the human students ringing out behind him.
"I will suppress my magical level. I don't want others to think I'm bullying you."
The red-skinned demon said while gesturing to the crowd.
James raised an eyebrow. This demon is quite smart. It seems the snake demon before was the expectation, these demons are all insidious!
Amon was controlling the narrative, and appearing magnanimous, but suppressing his magical level didn't mean much for demons compared to humans because they relied more heavily on bloodline ability.
Ryan didn't respond, which was the only correct answer.
"3... 2... 1... Begin!"
The match started and yet neither moved.
Then Ryan acted. "Golden Fire Dragon!"
A radiant golden dragon burst from his hands. It roared, rising high into the air before diving straight at Amon. Everyone expected an explosion of fire—but instead, the dragon coiled around Amon's body trying to squeeze him to death.
Amon didn't flinch. He stood still as the hot flames licked his skin. Then the tattoos on his body shone, a red and violent energy emerged forming into long tentacles. The tentacles pierced into the golden body of the dragon began absorbing it, draining its mana.
"Explode!" Ryan commanded.
Nothing.
The dragon flickered - and vanished.
Ryan's eyes widened. He readied another spell but before he could cast, Amon raised his hand.
"My turn."
A vast pressure descended.
Even behind the protective barriers, the audience felt it. It was like staring into the eyes of a predator in the wild. It was the same thing that happened when the demons first arrived.
"Kneel."
The word echoed like thunder. Ryan's legs buckled. He trembled under the force, sweat dripping from his brow.
