The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard-Chapter 2316: She Has No Choice!
"Why do you look so upset? Didn’t have a good chat?"
Carson Flores rose from the bed, looking at Selah Ellison with concern.
Selah had been invited by a masked woman to the room next door for tea. When she returned, her expression was noticeably unsettled.
Selah sighed, "No, it’s just that I’m feeling... a bit annoyed."
Carson reached out and took Selah’s hand, leading her to sit on a nearby chair. He sat across from her, smiling, "Care to tell me about it?"
Selah looked at Carson and sighed, "Cirelle Moonshadow is not willing."
Carson blinked, pondering for a couple of seconds, "Are you talking about her marriage?"
Selah nodded, "Yes, they say she’s being sent for marriage, but in reality, she’s being sent as compensation..."
Carson raised an eyebrow, "From her demeanor, she doesn’t seem to be of a low status. That Oberon Foster seems quite powerful, and those guards aren’t weak either."
Selah sighed softly, "Cirelle Moonshadow comes from the Wind Snow Sect, which is slightly stronger than the Three Saints Sect of the God Immortal Domain. In terms of status, she’s indeed not of low rank, being the great-granddaughter of the Sect Master of the Three Saints Sect."
"The story is a bit long. To put it simply, the Wind Snow Sect of Eastern Radiance and the Illusory Moon Sect of North Sea had conflicts, killing a Inner Sect Disciple of the Illusory Moon Sect, causing trouble."
"That Inner Sect Disciple wasn’t anyone important, but it gave the Illusory Moon Sect a reason. Illusory Moon Sect’s strongmen arrived forcefully at the Wind Snow Sect, listing a series of compensation demands, stating that the Wind Snow Sect must either compensate or face war and bear the consequences."
"The Illusory Moon Sect’s strength far surpasses the Wind Snow Sect’s, which could not possibly resist. They had no choice but to reluctantly accept and agree to compensate according to the list."
"Originally, this had nothing to do with Cirelle Moonshadow. Unfortunately, she happened to return from an errand and coincidentally ran into the Illusory Moon Sect’s team demanding compensation. Then, she caught the eye of Junior Sect Master Magnus Flores of the Illusory Moon Sect, who added her to the compensation list on the spot."
"The Wind Snow Sect’s Sect Master, who is also Cirelle Moonshadow’s grandfather, initially disagreed. However, they were threatened with immediate war and a bloody massacre of the Wind Snow Sect if they didn’t agree. For the sake of the Sect, Cirelle’s grandfather had no choice but to agree reluctantly, with the demand that Magnus Flores must marry her, or else he would rather die than comply."
"Oberon Foster is representing the Wind Snow Sect to deliver the compensation items to the Illusory Moon Sect, which includes Cirelle Moonshadow. He’s worried about her escaping, so he’s been watching her very closely, not daring to let her interact with any other men for fear of something going wrong."
Carson sighed softly, "Survival of the fittest, that’s the world of cultivators. What’s Cirelle Moonshadow’s attitude?"
Selah replied, "Of course she’s unwilling, but what choice does she have? If she doesn’t comply, disaster will befall the Wind Snow Sect, which is her home. Naturally, she doesn’t want her family to get hurt..."
Carson frowned, "So she’s willingly going to the Illusory Moon Sect to marry that damn Junior Sect Master?"
Selah smiled bitterly, "If it were a real marriage, it would have been fine. The problem is that Magnus Flores is not a good person at all. He loves to toy with women, the number of female cultivators who died at his hands are countless."
"He demanded Cirelle Moonshadow not because he fell for her at first sight or had affection for her, but simply because he found her beautiful and wanted to toy with her. Once Cirelle Moonshadow enters the Illusory Moon Sect, I’m afraid it would be a fate worse than death."
Carson said in a deep voice, "Cirelle knows all this, knows what fate awaits her, yet she still plans to go to the Illusory Moon Sect?"
"She has no choice."
Selah’s voice carried a hint of anger, "She said she’s thought of suicide, but if she does, the Illusory Moon Sect won’t let the Wind Snow Sect off, using it as an excuse to stir up more trouble. Then her death would be in vain."
"If she enters the Illusory Moon Sect and then dies, it won’t be related to the Wind Snow Sect. She said even in death, she hopes it will be of some worth."
Carson looked into Selah’s eyes, "Do you want to help her?"
Selah nodded, "Yes, but the Illusory Moon Sect is not someone we can afford to offend, not to mention the situation with the Wind Snow Sect. It’s not just a matter of saving someone and running away."
Carson smiled, "To save Cirelle, we must wait until after Oberon Foster hands her over to the Illusory Moon Sect, and even then, the rescue mustn’t lead others to suspect the Wind Snow Sect, correct?"
Selah looked at Carson apologetically, "I know it’s very difficult, a slight mistake could bring trouble on ourselves..."
Carson laughed, interrupting Selah, his gaze gentle, his voice steady, "We’re cultivating for peace of mind. If we can’t stand it, we should just do it. Haven’t we offended enough people already? What’s one more Illusory Moon Sect?"
After a pause, Carson added, "Besides, they are in the open, we are in the shadows. With intentional planning, they won’t even know who acted, much less trouble us."
Selah looked at Carson with satisfaction in her eyes.
He truly is her man!
Fearless and upstanding, unafraid of trouble!
"Rescue?"
Carson tightened his grip on Selah’s hand, "Rescue!"
