Chapter 1487: Chapter 1487: Don’t Want to Stay, or Can’t Bear to Leave?

Carson Flores sat cross-legged on the stone bed, holding the inner core of the Flame Dragon Ghost Bat in his hands. The pure energy surged into his body like a mighty river.

Carson was overjoyed—this energy was unbelievably pure!

The speed of cultivation felt as though he was advancing a thousand miles in a day; in just one day of this practice, he had progressed more than he might in a year of hard training.

Carson hadn’t expected that even while tending to an egg, demonic beasts would come knocking at his door.

Though there had been dangers and twists along the way, the end result turned out quite favorable.

He scored big!

For the days that followed, Carson grasped the inner core every day, cultivating madly, advancing at incredible speed.

The frenzied cultivation continued for two months until the inner core in his hands shrank smaller and smaller, finally disintegrating into dull fragments that scattered across the ground.

Carson took a deep breath, keeping his eyes closed for quite some time before slowly opening them.

The dense aura around him had increased significantly compared to before, revealing that these intense months of practice had greatly enhanced his strength. Yet even so, he still hadn’t broken through to Late Human Immortal.

Advancing as an Immortal—it was truly difficult!

A top-tier demonic beast’s inner core could not push him to another minor realm, but upon reflection, it seemed reasonable. After all, it was just one inner core; cultivation absorption could only convert a portion of its energy.

If one top-tier demonic beast inner core were enough for an Immortal to directly leap to a higher realm, then the Immortals would’ve hunted all demonic beasts with inner cores to extinction by now.

Carson stepped out of his bedroom; Selah Ellison was standing before the massive egg, lost in thought.

Carson walked forward, and despite being a Human Immortal, the fierce and muffled heartbeat coming from the egg still caused his own heart to beat uncontrollably faster, with an intense surge of excitement.

The sensation was even stronger than two months ago!

An unhatched fledgling whose heartbeat alone radiated such awe—what kind of power would it possess once hatched and grown?

"How’s it coming along?"

"Not long now, at most half a month, faster than expected."

Carson exclaimed in excitement, "Just the heartbeat alone carries such presence—I bet once it hatches, it’ll have immense strength!"

"Starting at Human Immortal."

Selah Ellison responded calmly, "For unique species like the Golden-Winged Great Roc, there are no bottlenecks to advancement, nor do they have distinct realm divisions. Essentially, the more they grow, the stronger they become. By adulthood, they reach the peak of their strength, rivaling Peak Heavenly Immortals. There are even legends of some such beings ascending to terrifying existences comparable to Great Land Supreme."

Carson laughed, "Though impressive, I imagine their growth period is probably quite lengthy?"

"Depends on your perspective."

Selah Ellison replied, "To ordinary people, their growth cycles may indeed seem long. But for Immortals, it’s not particularly long. After all, for a single Immortal to grow from Human Immortal to Celestial Immortal Peak, spending several thousand years, or even tens of thousands of years, is perfectly normal."

Speaking of the Golden-Winged Great Roc, Carson’s thoughts turned to the three beings he nurtured in the Barbaric Wilderness Realm.

The Snow Dragon Leopard King, Logan Moss, and the Vine Demon Josy.

They had been with Carson since his initial entry into the Barbaric Wilderness Realm, growing alongside him and assisting in numerous battles. Yet in the end, their limited strength prevented them from joining him in the Immortal Realm. Now, they remained in the Barbaric Wilderness, protecting his family and awaiting the day their cultivation reached perfection for ascension.

"I used to have three companions from the Demon Race..."

Selah Ellison glanced at Carson and asked calmly, "How did it feel?"

"It was great—they were my comrades and helped me so much. But when I ascended to the Immortal Realm, their powers weren’t sufficient; they still needed time and were constrained by bloodline and species limitations. I wonder if I’ll see them again here someday."

Selah Ellison murmured an "Mm" and said no more.

The two stood silently by the massive egg for a while. Suddenly, Carson asked, "Fairy, if you succeed in advancing to Great Land Supreme, will you leave this Immortal Domain?"

Selah Ellison answered, "Perhaps. Your master did the same, didn’t he?"

Carson nodded. People strive for higher places, just as water flows to lower ones—it’s the same principle as himself. Having become a Human Immortal, could he truly return to the Mortal Realm and live a simple, unremarkable life?

Walking untraveled paths, seeing unseen sights, continually ascending heights—that’s the normal mindset.

Although some rare figures choose to remain content in secluded existence, such individuals are merely exceptions.

What lies at the end of the Immortal Path?

Which cultivator isn’t curious?

"How long do you think it’ll take to refine the Nine Revolutions Great Land Pill and break through?"

Selah Ellison paused for two seconds before suddenly asking, "Why are you asking this?"

"Huh?"

Carson instinctively turned his head, gazing at Selah Ellison’s beautiful profile. "It just crossed my mind, so I asked..."

Selah Ellison turned, fixed her gaze on Carson, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Calculating how much longer we’ll have together?"

Uh...

Carson couldn’t deny that he did have such thoughts. However, now that Selah Ellison had plainly voiced them, the situation carried an awkward air.

Selah Ellison continued asking, "Don’t want to stay together—or reluctant to part?"
