Chapter 50: Chapter 50: The ‘Dead’ Delilah Woods
Chapter 50 -50: The ‘Dead’ Delilah Woods
Lucas Jennings heard her words and looked at her worried face but turned his head away, ignoring her.
Seeing this, Chase Jennings’s face immediately darkened,
“Lucas! Azura is concerned about you, what kind of attitude is that?!”
“Why do you care what my attitude is?”
By now, Lucas had already returned to his previous state; he retorted bluntly to Chase Jennings, yet still had no intention of acknowledging Azura Loomis.
He had always considered her as his own sister, but the incident in the teaching building had indeed left a knot in his heart.
*Even though he knew it was a normal reaction for ordinary people facing danger, he really disliked being abandoned.*
*Especially being abandoned by someone he trusted.*
Azura Loomis looked at Lucas Jennings’s attitude, her eyes flashed slightly, she lowered her eyes slightly, and simply said,
“Lucas, today’s matter is all my fault. If it weren’t for me insisting on dragging you along, you wouldn’t have encountered such a thing… Sister wants to say sorry to you.”
Azura Loomis spoke sincerely, but with her somewhat pale appearance at the moment, it immediately made Chase Jennings beside her feel heartache,
“Azura, why are you apologizing to him?! It’s you who got into trouble; it should be that little brat apologizing to you.”
“Brother Chase, don’t say that about Lucas; ultimately, the responsibility is mine in this matter. Lucas tried hard to protect me.”
“Stop speaking well of him; if he truly protected you well, why is he perfectly fine, and you’re the one hospitalized?”

Adam Jennings also chimed in,
“Azura, you’re just taking too much responsibility on yourself. He’s not a child; you can’t always pamper him like this. Even if, as a last resort, it was him who got into trouble today, it would be his failure to protect himself.”
Seeing the two start to scold him again, Lucas Jennings almost spat blood in frustration, he originally didn’t want to question Azura Loomis in front of so many people, but now he couldn’t help it.
“All you do is criticize me, why don’t you ask what she did?! I said from the start I didn’t want to meet that so-called online friend! And I didn’t want to play that damn CS either, but she insisted on taking me, and now things went wrong, and you blame me!
Why don’t you ask her, I was the one who stood in front of her when she was in danger! But what did she do?! She let go of me and ran on her own!”
Lucas Jennings thought after saying this he would gain the support of his two brothers, but unexpectedly, Adam Jennings and Chase Jennings still looked at him with a condemning expression.
“How could Azura do such a thing? Lucas, don’t go talking nonsense here!”
“Azura took you out of goodwill, has your conscience been fed to the dogs? How could you turn around and blame her?”
Azura Loomis suddenly covered her face and started to sob,
“Brother Adam, Brother Chase, don’t say anymore. Lucas is right, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have taken him out with me, causing him to fall into such danger without being able to protect him…”
The two Jennings brothers immediately began to comfort her, soothing her while scolding Lucas.
Lucas Jennings was so angry his nose almost twisted.
*He had clearly explained, but… why wouldn’t they listen?!*
*And what Azura Loomis said sounded like an apology, but not quite, a denial but not a denial either, clearly saying it’s her fault, but it still sounded like he was being unreasonable!*
*At that moment, he suddenly understood how Scarlett Jennings felt when they targeted her before.*
Looking at Adam Jennings and Chase Jennings again, he only felt that they were two big idiots!
While holding back his anger, Scarlett Jennings, who seemed not to have heard the conversation in front of her, opened her mouth,
“Since he’s awake, I’ll just head back first.”
She then looked at Lucas and asked him,
“Are you coming or not?”
Lucas Jennings was initially taken aback, but soon reacted and nodded,
“Yes! Sis, I’ll come with you!”
He gave the people in the hospital room, including Azura Loomis, a fierce eye-roll, then Lucas Jennings turned his head, changed his expression, and with a smile, followed Scarlett Jennings, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
*Rather than wasting words with fools, it was better to follow his sister home for a good rest.*
The three people left in the hospital room, especially Adam Jennings and Chase Jennings, looked at each other in dismay.
They hadn’t even finished scolding, so how could he just leave?
Azura Loomis lowered her head slightly, her eyes filled with coldness and regret as she looked down.
…
The abandoned teaching building had another incident. Although no lives were lost, the matter attracted the attention of the police.
Online, the issue of the abandoned teaching building once again stirred up a commotion, even the people involved in previous teaching building incidents were brought up again.
In the hospital, Isolde Garrison, who managed to narrowly escape with her life, saw the online reports and was so frightened that she dropped the iPad she was holding onto the ground.
This time she couldn’t maintain her composure, crying and demanding to find a master.
“Begging Scarlett Garrison for help would also do, as long as she had a way to save me, it wouldn’t matter if she didn’t come to see me, I could go see her, as long as she can take care of Delilah Woods!”
“I can’t take it anymore! Delilah Woods has turned into a ghost to find me, she wants to kill me, sobbing…”
Elsewhere, Scarlett Garrison, constantly on Isolde’s mind, appeared in front of an old residential building.
The old building was covered in mottled marks, and everywhere on the walls and doors were filled with little advertisements.
From time to time, the sound of quarrels emerged from within the building.
The old building didn’t have an elevator, and Scarlett Garrison climbed up to the sixth floor by the stairs.
Following the thread in her hand, she stood in front of a room on the sixth floor.
She knocked on the door.
After knocking for quite a while, footsteps finally came from inside.
The door opened, revealing a haggard-looking middle-aged woman within. Her expression was weary, and she looked at Scarlett Garrison outside the door with some confusion and doubt,
“Young lady… who are you looking for?”
Scarlett Garrison looked at the middle-aged woman in front of her, and spoke slowly,
“I’m looking for Delilah Woods.”
The middle-aged woman’s eyes flashed as she moved to close the door, “She’s dead!”
Scarlett Garrison extended her hand and held onto the door frame. Though it looked like a casual gesture, her grip was strong enough that the door didn’t budge at all in the woman’s grasp.
“I know she’s inside.”
Scarlett Garrison said, then paused, “I’m here to help her.”
The middle-aged woman’s face twitched, looking at Scarlett, her eyes held faint red veins. When she spoke again, her voice carried a hint of suppressed tremble,
“Who are you? Did the Quigley Family send you?”
Scarlett Garrison shook her head, “My surname is Jennings, you can call me Scarlett.”
The middle-aged woman just stared at her, struggling and pained, before slowly moving aside.
“Come in, then.”
The slightly cramped small room had no sofa, only a bed placed in the living room.
The middle-aged woman didn’t intend to invite her to sit, leading her straight to the only bedroom in the house.
First, she knocked on the door and without waiting for a response, opened it directly.
Through the open door, Scarlett Garrison finally saw inside the room.
The small, immaculately tidy room featured a bed, and on the bed sat a girl with flowing long hair and vacant eyes, like a puppet.
She was exactly the Delilah Woods whom Isolde Garrison claimed had already died.
Scarlett Garrison thought to herself that she had guessed correctly.
