With a fierce shout, a Thunder Talisman flew from Scarlett Jennings’ hand. In the next second, three bolts of Fire Thunder struck down from thin air, instantly turning the silk threads wrapped in dark energy into charred ashes.
At the same time, the threads originally wrapped around Lucas Jennings’ neck and feet turned to ash as well.
Lucas Jennings’ body went limp, and he collapsed onto the ground with the giant cocoon. Turning his head, he saw Scarlett Jennings, and his eyes instantly reddened with tears. He opened his mouth and wailed,
“…Scarlett Jennings…sis! Sis! Boohoo! I was wrong, sis!”
Scarlett Jennings quickly stepped forward and slapped him on the head, “Stop howling! Carry your egg and follow me.”
She had just driven away the silk threads, but this place was far from safe.
As for the cocoon egg on Lucas Jennings’ back, judging from how protectively he acted before, it was obvious that Azura Loomis was inside.
Lucas Jennings was used to being slapped by his father, and the sudden slap from Scarlett left him with a nostalgic feeling. He quickly forgot about crying, nodded, and swiftly got up, carrying the human-sized cocoon egg on his back.
Scarlett Jennings led him back downstairs. While it was temporarily safe, she casually pulled out a Yellow Talisman and flicked it. In her hand, the Yellow Talisman instantly became as resilient as a blade.
Lucas Jennings watched as she pinched the Yellow Talisman between two fingers and casually swiped it. The cocoon egg he had just put on the ground instantly split in half, and the next moment, a girl tumbled out.
Lucas Jennings hurried to support her.
Scarlett Jennings was taken aback for a moment when she saw the unfamiliar girl, “Who is this? Where’s Azura Loomis?”
“She’s Spring. Azura…she’s still upstairs.”
Lucas Jennings’ tone turned stiff for a moment when mentioning Azura, but Scarlett Jennings didn’t notice. She only frowned upon hearing that people were still upstairs.
“Why did you guys have to meet in a place like this?”
Scarlett Jennings was utterly speechless at them.
Who meets internet friends in a place like this?
Lucas Jennings’ expression froze as he glanced at Scarlett Jennings, looking visibly guilty,
“N-not just the three of us…”
Scarlett Jennings felt a twitch of her eyebrow, suddenly having a bad premonition.
“There are nine of us, and besides me and Spring, there are seven others upstairs…”
Scarlett Jennings: …
Are people these days flocking together even for recklessness?
But with seven lives at stake, she couldn’t just ignore it.
“You take her and leave here first, I will go find the others.”
Scarlett Jennings said and was about to leave when Lucas Jennings suddenly grabbed her. Despite the evident fear remaining on his face, he wiped his eyes with the back of his hand. With a determined expression, the young man said,
“I’ll go with you, I know where they are.”
Scarlett Jennings looked at him and didn’t refuse, only asking, “We might encounter the same things again, aren’t you afraid?”

“You came to rescue me, I must be responsible for you.”
Lucas Jennings knew if it hadn’t been for Scarlett Jennings today, he would have perished here.
He was, after all, a man. How could he leave her and run away on his own? The Jennings Family members weren’t irresponsible like that.
Moreover, with so many people and so many eggs, she couldn’t save them all by herself.
Scarlett Jennings pondered for just a moment, then nodded. The next second, she fetched a Jade Token from her small bag and handed it to him.
“This is a protective Jade Token. Keep it on you, and if things go wrong, run away immediately.”
Lucas Jennings’ eyes lit up at the familiar Jade Token. He quickly took off the silver chain around his neck, discarded the original pendant, and directly attached the Jade Token, wearing it.
He then watched as Scarlett Jennings rummaged through her backpack, finally pulling out a utility knife. She casually took a piece of yellow paper, wrapped it around the knife handle, and handed it to him,
“Take it for self-defense.”
Lucas Jennings’ mouth twitched at the sight of the utility knife.
Aren’t Masters supposed to have all kinds of Magic Artifacts on them? How come there isn’t even a Peach Wood Sword?
Was this utility knife just too makeshift?
Still, having something was better than nothing.
Lucas Jennings took it.
Scarlett Jennings communicated briefly with him about the possible situations they might encounter ahead, making sure Lucas Jennings understood. She then fetched a few more Yellow Talismans from her bag.
Lucas Jennings watched as she flicked her wrist, and the Yellow Talismans formed a circle in the air before rapidly descending over Spring, instantly erecting a barrier around her.
Lucas Jennings was utterly astonished.
Scarlett Jennings really could use spells…
Suddenly, he gained a bit of confidence in the little utility knife he held.
The two went back upstairs to the rooftop Heavenly Platform but found the door already wrapped with strands of silk.
Scarlett Jennings directly used a Fire Talisman to burn the silk and opened the door. Inside, they saw seven giant eggs neatly arranged above the platform.
Scarlett Jennings gestured for Lucas Jennings to hide behind the door, while she stepped forward into the room.
Scarlett Jennings believed she was cautious enough, but the moment she stepped onto the Heavenly Platform, she felt a dizzy spell. When she came to her senses, she had already fallen into another Mirage Realm.
It was still the same Heavenly Platform, but the scene was set in another daytime.
A girl in a school uniform was being pushed around and shoved onto the ground by several others. Soon, someone sat on her, pinching her cruelly all over.
“Your mom sells snacks from a stall, yet she managed to raise you plump and fair. This flesh feels nice to pinch, you all should try it too. Make sure to pinch where the clothes cover so no one notices.”
“I heard some people bruise right after being pinched, why don’t we peel off her clothes and see?”
The girl struggled desperately but was still stripped of her top.
The group of girls surrounding her laughed wildly, even taking out their phones to snap photos.
The girl hugged herself, sobbing for mercy.
The scene shifted.
The girl stood at the edge of the rooftop, her clothes neat. Yet she stepped off the edge without hesitation.
Once more, the scene repeated, this time with a schoolboy standing in the same place as the girl. Holding a stack of test papers, his eyes were hollow, methodically tearing them apart.
In the end, he tossed the shredded papers into the air, letting them flutter around as he leaped off amidst the confetti.
Scarlett Jennings stood still, watching as these young lives vanished one after another.
They either endured bullying, suffered under academic pressure, were molested and defamed, all harboring resentful grudges against their surroundings or the school. Their festering Resentful Energy enveloped the school building, influencing those who came later.
Perhaps some didn’t truly wish to die, yet they still chose to end their lives.
Even as she witnessed these moments through space and time, it felt as if an imperceptible grudge began seeping toward her.
Scarlett Jennings furrowed her brows, preparing to find a way out when the scene again shifted, and the figures now appearing stopped her hand in mid-motion.
In the new scene, there was a sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl. Unlike the previous students, her belly was slightly swollen, and she was protectively clutching it as she retreated step by step.
Before her, steadily closing in, was Isolde Garrison.
