The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon!-Chapter 1152: Who Doesn’t Have an ID Card These Days?
Apartment study room.
"Amber Livingston" and "Ashton Todd" sat opposite each other, exchanging glances.
They didn’t participate in Jasmine Hamilton and the others’ discussion.
Having been together for more than two years, Amber Livingston was well aware that Jasmine Hamilton had secrets.
Just like today, a person who has always kept to herself suddenly has so many "friends" appear, it’s clearly suspicious.
However, Amber Livingston always believed that everyone has their own circles and secrets, so if Jasmine didn’t bring it up, he wouldn’t ask either.
Yet, looking at the "Ashton Todd" across from him, who seemed to be in a daze, he couldn’t help but ask,
"Are they talking about you? Or did you do something?"
Otherwise, why was he the only one excluded?
Amber Livingston had just returned from walking his fox, and hadn’t seen the scene of two Ashton Todds backstabbing each other, so he naturally assumed that the Ashton Todd in front of him was the same one as before.
Ashton Todd, hearing his question, simply replied in a low voice,
"I also don’t know what they are discussing."
He paused for a moment and then said,
"I’m not with them."
The real Ashton Todd who was with them, he hadn’t seen just now.
His words left Amber Livingston even more confused.
Had they fallen out???
After all, he had only met this person today, so even though Amber had doubts, he couldn’t be too nosy.
The study fell into a peculiar silence again, until finally there was some movement from outside the living room.
Jasmine Hamilton knocked on the study’s door, signaling them to come out.
It was getting late, and the collaboration with the Otherworld Heavens wasn’t something that could be decided quickly; they first needed to arrange accommodations for Scarlett Jennings and her group.
"Magnolia Hearne and Scarlett can stay here, and I’ll take the others to a nearby hotel for now."
The house Jasmine Hamilton was currently living in had originally been bought by Magnolia Hearne, and now that its rightful owner was back, she naturally had to vacate it for her.
Magnolia Hearne, however, refused to trouble her,
"This is your house now, so live as you wish. Scarlett and I can stay at the hotel with the others."
Stella Gibson, standing beside her, nodded but asked,
"We don’t have IDs here; will the hotel let us stay?"
Her question seemed casual, but it sent a jolt through Amber Livingston’s heart when he heard it.
In this day and age, who doesn’t have an ID?
Without identification, how did they come here?
It’s very illogical!
Looking at Jasmine Hamilton again, confusion flashed in Amber Livingston’s eyes.
The girlfriend he’d painstakingly found, could she be some kind of foreign special agent?
Unaware of Amber’s wild imagination, Jasmine noticed his complex gaze and tilted her head curiously.
Despite his heartache and inner turmoil, Amber Livingston spoke,
"If you don’t have IDs, you can rent a standalone villa. We can rent one in our name."
Some villas are specifically rented out for young people to throw parties; places like that aren’t hard to find,
more importantly, if these people really have issues, it would be easier to catch them all living in a standalone villa.
Thinking like this, Amber Livingston even took the initiative to help search for villas that could be rented nearby.
However, since it was already dark, it wasn’t easy to find a villa on short notice.
So Magnolia Hearne simply said,
"I’ll handle the villa, no need to trouble yourselves."
She glanced at Amber Livingston and then said to Jasmine Hamilton, "Don’t worry about lodging, just give him a simple explanation of the situation."
Seeing Amber Livingston’s expression, despite his effort to conceal it, it was clear he regarded them as some sort of illegal immigrants.
If it wasn’t clarified soon, he might try to drag them into singing the national anthem or something.
Jasmine Hamilton: ???
...
Having spent eighteen years in the Otherworld, Magnolia Hearne had previously built her business and connections in Sea City.
She quickly borrowed a villa from a wealthy lady she knew.
The group then drove to the villa, not forgetting to take "Ashton Todd" with them.
Jasmine Hamilton’s car was naturally one left by Magnolia Hearne; with more people than space, they borrowed a car from Amber Livingston.
"Ashton Todd" ended up in the same car as Scarlett Jennings, sitting in the back seat, watching as the car headed toward the university and finally mustered the courage to ask about the other Ashton Todd.
He wanted to know who that person really was?
Where did he go afterward?
Who are they?
Scarlett Jennings didn’t want to involve this world’s Ashton Todd, so in response to his questions, she answered with another,
"I can tell you, but you might have to spend money after that; do you still want to know?"
The car fell silent for a moment, and after a long pause, Ashton chuckled,
"Actually, I don’t really want to know."
In such a vast world, there’s no end to wonders.
Though curious, if this curiosity might hurt his wallet, he could do without it.
The drive continued in silence until the car stopped near the school, and Ashton was quick to open the car door and step out.
Just as he opened the door, Scarlett Jennings called to him,
"Ashton Todd."
He turned his head and saw a Talisman flash with spiritual light before his eyes.
Scarlett Jennings looked at him, her voice dreamlike, saying only,
"Everything that happened today was just a dream, go back."
Ashton’s eyes turned dazed, and when he looked at the person in front of him again, he had lost the desire to investigate.
He got out of the car, swaying as he walked back to the school, and only when he lay down in his dorm did he seem to wake as if from a dream.
In that dream, there were two of him.
As Magnolia Hearne drove toward the villa, she couldn’t help but ask Scarlett Jennings,
"Even if you didn’t use magic to muddle his memory, his character probably wouldn’t spill the beans either."
Scarlett Jennings, of course, knew this.
Though the experiences of Ashton Todd from the original world differed, resulting in some character differences, they weren’t fundamentally different.
Knowing this well, Scarlett Jennings wasn’t worried Ashton would talk.
She did it simply because she didn’t want him dwelling on it.
"Although it’s another world, everyone in this world has their own life."
They were ultimately just passing through, and if they could avoid causing too much disturbance, they would.
Magnolia Hearne listened to her and remained silent, though deep in thought.
After dropping off Ashton Todd, the group soon settled into the borrowed villa.
The night fell asleep amidst the stars, unaware that in the Jennings Family villa, several miles away,
Luca Jennings had just finished work and was sitting alone in the study when his phone suddenly rang.
It was a call from a peer who rarely contacted him, though they had longstanding family ties.
On the other end of the line, a middle-aged man’s voice came, laced with a tinge of smugness,
"Luca, you definitely don’t know who my wife just lent the Serenity Garden villa to."
The person continued,
"The person you asked me to keep an eye on before, she showed up."
With a clatter.
The always composed Family Head accidentally knocked over his teacup.
In his usually stern and unperturbed eyes, there was now, most unexpectedly, a slight glimmer of light.
