"Mother…"

Diana’s eyes widened. Her mother looked healthy, but the room was a disaster.

She stood in the doorway, taking in the scene. Her gaze moved from her mother’s improved condition to the destroyed room, finally resting on Julian and Erica.

"Mother, what happened here? And why..." she hesitated, her brow furrowing as she looked at Julian, "Why is he here?"

Lady Ophelia smiled warmly. "Diana, my dear. Come in, please. There’s much we need to discuss."

Diana approached cautiously, her eyes never leaving Julian.

"Mother, you look... better. Much better. How is this possible?"

Ophelia’s smile faltered for just a moment before she regained her composure. "My dear, sometimes miracles happen when we least expect them. The important thing is that I’m well now."

"But what does he have to do with this? And why is the room in such disarray?"

Erica stepped forward. "My lady, I apologize for the state of the room. In our haste to assist your mother, we may have been a bit... careless."

"Yes, that’s right," Ophelia nodded gratefully at Erica’s intervention. "Julian and Erica were kind enough to come to my aid when I was in need."

"But how did they know you needed help? And why them, of all people?"

Julian shifted uncomfortably, avoiding Diana’s gaze. Ophelia reached out and took her daughter’s hand.

"Diana, there are some things that are difficult to explain. What matters now is that I’m better, and we should be grateful for that. Julian and Erica have been invaluable friends to our family today."

Diana pressed her lips into a thin line, clearly unsatisfied with the vague explanation. "Mother, I don’t understand. Why all the secrecy?"

"Some secrets are meant to protect those we care about, my dear. Can you trust me on this?" Ophelia sighed, her eyes flickering to Julian and Erica before returning to her daughter.

The tension in the room was palpable as Diana struggled with her mother’s words. Finally, her shoulders slumped slightly.

"I... I suppose I must, Mother. But I don’t like it."

Ophelia squeezed her daughter’s hand.

"I know, my dear. And I promise, in time, everything will become clear. For now, let’s focus on the joy of this moment."

"Julian, Erica, thank you again for your assistance. Perhaps it would be best if you took your leave now. Diana and I have much to discuss."

Erica bowed her head respectfully. "Of course, my lady. We’re just relieved to see you in better health." She guided Julian towards the door.

As Julian and Erica made their way to the door, Diana watched them leave with a mix of confusion and suspicion. Julian resisted the urge to turn around and meet her gaze one last time.

Just before they stepped out, Lady Ophelia’s voice called out softly, "Julian, remember what we discussed. Take some time to consider the offer."

Julian nodded silently as they stepped into the hallway, his mind already racing with the implications of Lady Ophelia’s words.

The door closed behind them, muffling the conversation inside. Erica let out a long breath.

"Well, that was... interesting," she murmured glancing at Julian concerned of his decision but proud of the offer.

"Are you alright sweetie?"

"I’m fine," Julian responded, deep in thought. "Just... thinking."

[Location: Aurean Kingdom, Room Of Princess Francine]

"Again… another failure…. again…"

Francine Aureus gazed out over the skyline of Aurean City, her eyes clouded with frustration and disappointment. The golden spires and crystal towers that usually filled her with pride now seemed to mock her entirely.

She sighed heavily, running a hand through her long blonde hair.

"How many times must I relive this life?"

She muttered to herself and suddenly the memories of her latest regression flashed through her mind - fragments of choices made, paths taken, and the inevitable, crushing defeat at the end.

Francine closed her eyes, trying to piece together where it had all gone wrong this time.

Was it the alliance she had forged? The enemy she’d underestimated? Or was it something deeper, a fundamental flaw in her approach that she was still blind to?

Even in these lifetimes, she couldn’t figure out the problem after all this time. Even if she did, she would always be brought back to being a child again.

KNOCK…KNOCK…KNOCK…

A soft knock at the door interrupted her brooding.

"Enter," she called, straightening her posture and smoothing her features into a mask of royal composure.

Her servant stepped into the room, bowing low.

"Your Highness, I bring news from His Majesty. The Evera family has arrived for their visit, and the King requests your presence to greet them."

Francine’s eyes widened slightly. She had forgotten about the Everas’ visit.

-Right… the Evera family… One of the strongest families among the 7 continents and the sole holder of the 9 star mage. Franz Evera. I expected this life to be different but I guess me being young again is something that has never changed. No matter, I just have to start from scratch again and figure it all out in this lifetime and hope this will be the last.

Rising from her seat by the window, Francine recalled a few memories of the Evera family, one that brought the prodigy mage of this proud nation and the impending destruction that he’d one day bring.

Haah…

"Whether it’d be a week, 2 months, or even a year. They were bound to come one way or another. If that’s what’s happening then It’s better to keep your friends close… and your enemies closer."

Francine nodded to her servant. "Very well. I’ll be down shortly." As the servant bowed and retreated, Francine took a deep breath, steeling herself for the performance ahead.

She moved to her ornate mirror, scrutinizing her reflection. The face that stared back was young, innocent mask that hid centuries of knowledge and pain.

With practiced ease, she molded her features into a cheerful, excited expression befitting a six-year-old princess.

As she made her way down the grand staircase, she knew that the Evera family’s arrival was both an opportunity and a potential threat.

Instead of trying to look good, Francine was solely focused on getting through this encounter first.
