The Extra's Reincarnation-Chapter 51: Reveal (3)
As the commotion settled, Diana turned to Ezekiel and Leanne, her eyes shining with gratitude.
"Thank you... Both of you. I don’t know how you did it, but you’ve given my mother a chance."
"I just wanted to help,"
Ezekiel smiled looking back at Diana.
Leanne nodded solemnly.
"I’m glad I could be of assistance, my lady. But..." she hesitated, glancing at Lady Ophelia.
"The poison hasn’t been fully eradicated. We’ve only bought her some time."
Diana’s face fell slightly, but she squared her shoulders, determination blazing in her eyes.
"Then we’ll use that time. We’ll find a cure, no matter what it takes."
As Diana began issuing orders to the servants and conferring with the doctor, I felt a hand on my shoulder.
I turned to see my mother, her face etched with concern.
"Julian," she said softly, "are you alright? You look pale."
I nodded, trying to muster a smile.
"I’m fine, Mom. Just... it was a lot to take in."

As the room buzzed with renewed hope and activity, the heavy oak doors swung open once more.
Aldric, the head servant, strode in, his face a mask of concern.
His salt-and-pepper hair was slightly disheveled, as if he had rushed here in haste.
"What’s all this commotion about?" he demanded, his deep voice cutting through the chatter. His eyes swept the room, taking in the scene before him – Lady Ophelia looking more alive than she had in weeks, Diana by her side, and the cluster of people around the bed.
The doctor, still beaming with excitement, hurried over to Aldric.
"Oh, it’s wonderful news! Lady Ophelia’s condition has stabilized. These children," he gestured towards Ezekiel and Leanne, "they’ve done something remarkable. The poison’s spread has been halted!"
Aldric’s brow furrowed, his lips pressing into a thin line.
What should have been joyous news seemed to cast a shadow over his features.
"Children, you say? And what exactly did these... children do?"
The doctor, oblivious to Aldric’s darkening mood, launched into an explanation of the miraculous healing. But with each word, Aldric’s scowl deepened.
"Enough!"
Aldric snapped, cutting off the doctor mid-sentence.
The room fell silent, all eyes turning to the head servant.
"Do you realize what you’ve done? Allowing untrained children to interfere with Lady Ophelia’s treatment? Who knows what damage they might have caused!"
Diana stepped forward, her emerald eyes flashing.
"Damage? Aldric, look at my mother. The doctor said she’s better than she’s been in weeks!"
But Aldric was undeterred.
"For now, perhaps. But we have no idea of the long-term effects of this... meddling." He turned to the doctor, his voice dripping with disdain.
"And you, sir. To allow such reckless interference... it’s unconscionable."
The doctor wilted under Aldric’s glare, stammering out apologies.
But as Julian watched, he couldn’t help but notice something off about Aldric’s reaction.
The man’s eyes darted nervously around the room, and there was a tightness to his jaw that spoke of more than just concern.
"Everyone out," Aldric commanded, his voice brooking no argument.
"Lady Ophelia needs rest, not all this excitement. Out, all of you!"
As the room began to clear, Aldric’s eyes landed on Erica.
"Not you, you need to stay. We need to discuss the... dietary changes we’ll need to implement in light of this development."

[Florence Estate: Training Grounds]
Ezekiel and Julian waited outside the Florence family’s training grounds, lounging at a nearby table. Diana Florence sat across from them, with Leanne standing dutifully by her side like a proper maid.
"So, Ezekiel… would you mind telling me what you’re doing in my home?"
"Well, you see… his mother works as a servant here,"
Ezekiel pointed towards Julian, and Diana, who eyes hadn’t left Ezekiel’s, glanced straight at the boy by his side.
"...!"
Diana’s eyes widened as she turned to look at Julian, as if seeing him for the first time.
"You’re... Erica’s son?" Diana asked, her voice soft with surprise.
Julian nodded, feeling uncomfortable under her scrutiny.
"Yes, my lady. My name is Julian."
Diana’s brow furrowed slightly, as if trying to recall something.
"Julian... have we met before? You seem... familiar somehow."
-Does she not recognise me from that night? Well, it might be better since I was quite nervous about her finding out who I am.
Julian knew that saying pointless things would only make things worse, so instead, he shook his head.
"No, my lady. I don’t believe we have."
Diana studied him for a moment longer before turning back to Ezekiel.
"And you? How do you know Julian?"
Ezekiel grinned, seemingly oblivious to the tension.
"Oh, Julian and I met in Oakwood! We’ve become great friends. My uncle Nivel brought us here when he heard Lady Ophelia was ill. But anyway, did everyone we save make it?"
"Yes, just like me, they were all able to find safety from within Amberton town, since the place itself has a no slave policy."

"wew… that’s good to hear!"
Diana nodded, a small smile gracing her lips.
"I’m glad to hear it. And I must thank you again, Ezekiel, for your bravery that night. If not for you and Leanne..."
But then, she just stopped thinking. She thought back to the night that mysterious boy appeared out of nowhere and saved her.
That night she must’ve known that he killed Bonrick, seeing that Ezekiel survived.
"It was nothing, really," Ezekiel said, his cheeks flushing. "I just did what anyone would do."
Diana shook her head.
"Not anyone. It takes a special kind of courage to do that. Especially if it’s an airhead without a plan."
She arched a perfectly shaped eyebrow at Ezekiel, who responded by scratching his head and letting out a nervous chuckle.
-These two seem to get along well. Maybe Ezekiel might have a chance at getting a girl after all.
BANG
A commotion from inside the mansion caught their attention.
The doors burst open, and Aldric stormed out, his face thunderous.
Behind him, Erica hurried to keep up, her expression a mix of concern and frustration.
"Aldric, please," Erica was saying, "we need to discuss this further. Lady Ophelia’s care is crucial-"
"Enough!"
Aldric snapped, whirling to face her.
"I’ve made my decision. That child, his fake guard and that maid are to leave immediately. Their presence here is disruptive and dangerous!"
Diana stood, her eyes flashing with anger.
"What’s the meaning of this, Aldric? These people saved my mother’s life and you can’t throw away Leanne like that. She my maid!"
Aldric turned to Diana, his expression softening slightly, but still stern.
"My lady, I understand your gratitude, but we must think of Lady Ophelia’s long-term care. These... unconventional methods could have unforeseen consequences. We also don’t need anymore maids in the household. One, too many will make it harder for the seniors."
Ezekiel stepped forward, his usual cheerful demeanor replaced by a seriousness that seemed beyond his years.
"Sir, if there’s any way we can help further-"
"No," Aldric cut him off sharply. "You’ve done quite enough. I want you all gone by nightfall."
As Aldric turned to leave, Julian caught a glimpse of something in the man’s pocket - a small vial filled with a dark, swirling liquid.
In that moment, Julian’s Divine Eyes activated involuntarily.
The vial glowed with a sickly aura, pulsing with the same corrupted energy he had seen in Lady Ophelia’s mana channels.
Julian knew Aldric wasn’t trying to protect Lady Ophelia because, after all, he was the one poisoning her.
"I’m sorry, guys. I’ll have a word with Aldric and promise that you are able to stay here for as long as needed."
Diana got up from her seat and walked past Erica.
Julian watched as Diana chased after Aldric.
He knew he had to act fast. - the evidence of Aldric’s treachery was right there in the man’s pocket, but how could he expose it without revealing his own abilities?
"Mom," Julian said quietly, tugging on Erica’s sleeve. "I need to talk to you. It’s important."
Erica looked at her son with worry.
"What is it, sweetheart?"
Julian glanced around, making sure no one else was within earshot.
"It’s about Aldric. I... I saw something. In his pocket. A vial with some kind of dark liquid."
Erica’s eyes widened slightly, but she kept her voice low. "Are you certain, Julian?"
He nodded emphatically. "Yes. And Mom, it looked... wrong. Like it was giving off some kind of bad energy."
Erica’s brow furrowed as she processed this information. She knew her son well enough to trust his instincts, even if she didn’t fully understand how he knew these things.
"Alright," she said finally. "I’ll keep an eye on Aldric. But Julian, promise me you won’t do anything reckless. Let the adults handle this, okay?"
Julian nodded reluctantly, knowing he couldn’t explain the full extent of what he’d seen.
But at least his mother was alerted now.
