The extra is a fox eyed jester-Chapter 56: Tyrisa vs Yoshino
Tyrisa spared a glance at the bleeding cut.
Her eyelids lowered without a trace of emotion, her lips pressed into a thin line.
She blinked, once.
Then brought out a tanto and paired it together with her katana.
Yoshino on the other hand unsheathed his nodachi, his expression was calm, his eyelids closed.
His long black hair swayed slightly flowing gently in the wind.
The hand which gripped the nodachi tensed for a few seconds then Yoshino smiled.
"Ha... the heavens are on your side today, since I’m being tense that can only mean that I’m not confident in my ability to defeat you, but make no mistake princess, I shall prove to be quite difficult."
"You talk too much." Tyrisa replied coldly.
Yoshino chuckled.
"Oh... harsh."
Then he moved.
Tyrisa didn’t wait for him to approach, she met his attack head-on.
Her counter was swift—her katana caught his nodachi before she leaned forward and slashed at his ribs.
Or at least she tried to.
Her blade never bit skin.
Just before it touched him Yoshino had activated his blessing innate ability, using the wind to coat his hands in a swirling cyclone.
Wind spiraled around his hands and bled into the nodachi’s blade.
The cyclone extended outward, catching Tyrisa’s katana the moment their weapons met.
Blades of wind created cuts across her arm.
She stifled a hiss, her center of gravity changed as she pivoted on her heels, dashing out of his range.
Blood dripped down her arm, her grip on the tanto loosened.
Her face contoured into a wince, she clicked her tongue in disapproval as she took in the condition of her arm.
Yoshino didn’t give her much time to recollect herself.
He slashed at the air sending barrages of wind blades towards her.
Tyrisa knew it was a trap, if she moved back where the trees were, she would be trapped because the blades were not really aimed to kill her, it was aimed to pressure her into range where the trees could bury her.
She frowned.
Her opponent never intended to defeat her, he wanted to humiliate her and she...
Would never give him the satisfaction of that.
Instead of retreating Tyrisa moved in towards the incoming wind blades.
She watched the trajectory of the attacks closely, then she reacted.
The first blade whooshed past her while the second went over her head.
Her only advantage was the fact that she wasn’t really tall and she was slim, still the attacks were getting dangerous.
The shadows beneath her feet stirred then changed shape, it swirled around her form like a protective cyclone stopping the wind blades from grazing her as she moved.
And because of it, she could afford to be a bit more reckless.
She gathered strength in her legs then propelled herself upwards.
Her lips pressed into a thin indifferent line, then she muttered.
"Kage Tosei." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
The shadows around her wrapped her form, it shifted slowly, attaching itself unto her form like a second layer of skin.
A black oni mempō covered her face, while her legs were covered with a black hakama.
The shadow armor wasn’t complete yet, but it was enough to deal with her opponent.
Pale mana danced beneath her armor augmenting the petite form of the white haired princess.
Her cyan eyes glowed a pale hue slowly turning the color of the moon.
Everything happened in an instant and Yoshino was barely able to react, his Amber eyes flickered with uncertainty for a second.
He raised his nodachi to parry Tyrisa’s attack but the force of her descent sent him tumbling backwards.
His back crashed into a tree, the pain exploded behind his eyes causing his vision to tunnel for a brief second.
Tyrisa approached Yoshino with unhurried steps.
Yoshino winced.
"Ah princess, you were holding back... that’s a bit disrespectful for a warrior."
Tyrisa scoffed.
"I come from a house of assassins."
Yoshino couldn’t help but chuckle.
"Getting all chatty are we?"
Tyrisa deadpanned.
"No, just die."
Her katana moved.
Clang!
Her blade met Yoshino’s nodachi.
The Amber eyed swordsman bit his lips, the sheer force of Tyrisa’s attacks were brutal ever since she donned that strange armor of shadow.
With visible effort, he pushed back.
Tyrisa could have wrestled him down, kept him pinned, but she didn’t.
This boy, Yoshino, had killed her assistant early on in a rather cowardly way.
Just as he had killed the other aspirants, with an attack that could kill without being noticed.
But she had an affinity to shadows so she sensed his attacks long before it arrived but her assistant’s reaction time wasn’t swift enough.
As much as she hated to admit, she wanted to fight him head on without holding back, not only that, she wanted to push him into a corner, to make the arrogant fellow—who thought he could humiliate her and get away with it—struggle.
She skidded a few steps back, her eyes cold with intent.
Yoshino took a moment to catch his breath then he placed his nodachi into a partial horizontal line, letting his left hand rest on the Mune of his blade.
Tyrisa stared at his stance for a while, then she finally spoke.
"Don’t hold back..."
Yoshino smirked.
"Never planned to."
His Amber eyes glinted faintly while his nodachi glowed a pale green.
"I’ve been meaning to ask, you’re the princess of the Avalion kingdom, why does your technique have origins to the Tsukiyora empire."
Tyrisa didn’t respond, instead she raised her katana then took a stance.
Her cold gaze told Yoshino that he wasn’t going to get the answers to his question anytime soon.
"Figures." He said with a knowing smile, then his expression turned a bit dangerous.
"Blessing of the wind, Zephyr’s descent."
The moment the words left his lips, a heavy pressure descended on the small forest clearing where they fought.
The winds became extremely aggressive while the surrounding trees swayed from the pressure.
Tyrisa held her tanto in a reverse grip, her armor bore the brunt of Yoshino’s blessing.
Her eyes lingered on him with calm predatory focus.
Yoshino’s transformation didn’t have any effect on him drastically, save for the sway of his robe and hair, he still looked normal, but the Aura surrounding him was not.
Seeing him go all out, Tyrisa responded in kind.
"Blessing of shadows, Ares parade."
