The Ex-Wife's Revenge: Rise of the Real Heiress.-Chapter 179: Lies turned to truth
Beatrice lay on the bed in one of the VIP wards of Lifecare Hospital, a bandage wrapped around her head.
She looked at the ceiling, pursing her lips, thinking about everything. Her fists clenched by her side as she thought about how angry Elara was because of the useless move Sophia played at the wrong time.
This made Andrew sympathize with the girl, even though the goal was to make him completely detach from her.
Everything was going fine. She just had to wait for the release of the first eight episodes in two weeks before announcing to the world that she had some kind of relationship with Andrew, and the rest would’ve fallen into place naturally.
Beatrice looked out the window facing the corridor, and her brows furrowed when she saw Andrew standing there.
She bit her bottom lip before standing and walking there.
She was about to call Andrew to let him know she had gained consciousness, which she never lost in the first place.
However, before she could open her mouth, Jason’s words caught her attention, and she stopped herself just in time.
She stood behind the wall to hear what they were talking about.
"You look a bit worried and tired, sir," Jason said to Andrew, who had his head covered with his hands.
Andrew looked up before taking a long breath.
"I don’t know, Jason. Everything’s just slipping from my hands. The more I try to hold it, the worse it’s getting," Andrew said.
Jason didn’t say anything for some time. Since he was the one to drive him to the house, he was well aware of what transpired inside the house, even when he was standing at the entrance. After all, no one in the house was speaking politely.
"It’s troublesome for you because you are realizing what you’ve lost after everything has gotten out of hand," Jason commented, making Andrew look at him.
"I am talking about Miss Elara. If you put yourself in her place, would you be able to trust yourself to make things right? No, right? Then how can you expect her to do that?" Jason asked, and Andrew looked down at his hands, knowing his secretary was right.
Jason looked around before clearing his throat.
"Honestly, even after what she went through, Miss Elara is quite polite and humble. I saw it in her eyes, the doubt, the conflict of whether to give you a chance, but it disappeared as soon as you ran to Miss Beatrice," Jason said. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Beatrice, who was hearing everything the secretary was saying, glared at the bed before her, barely controlling her anger.
This man was definitely another big thorn in her life and one more reason why Andrew wasn’t with her yet. He always has to poke his nose where it doesn’t belong.
Andrew looked up at Jason’s words.
"You did?" He asked, his eyes lighting up with hope that he wanted to hold onto.
Why? Because Jason was right. He realized how much he wanted and needed Elara in his life only after she was gone from his life entirely.
Jason nodded before clearing his throat.
"Please pardon my intrusion on your privacy, but I want to ask you this question as a friend. Do you really think Beatrice is pregnant?" Jason asked.
Andrew shook his head without hesitation.
Beatrice’s lips trembled at the sight.
"We had se— or whatever it was, like 2 nights ago. How can one become pregnant so soon? Does it even appear in the tests? If Beatrice is pregnant for real, the child is not mine," Andrew said.
Jason nodded. That was precisely what he was thinking about. If Beatrice really thought this pregnancy drama would work, it was just going to backfire on her. This way, everyone would know her true colors.
"And what about the night? How are you going to deal with it?" Jason asked.
Andrew shook his head.
"I don’t know, Jason. As a responsible person and friend who did such a horrible thing to her, I should take responsibility, but I just don’t know...and now this pregnancy...let’s wait and see for now," Andrew said.
Beatrice froze behind the wall.
In her urgency to divert Andrew’s attention from Elara and to confess his feelings to the woman, she had come up with whatever first came to mind and could stop him.
She even incurred a wound on her head to make the fall more dramatic. It was more painful than she had thought it would be.
But what Andrew said was right.
If she insisted she was pregnant, there was no way anyone would believe the child was his. Any pregnancy takes 2 weeks after implantation to be detected.
Beatrice walked to her bed and sat down, thinking about what to say or do in this situation.
She was about to call a doctor friend for advice when the door opened, and the doctor walked in.
"Miss Beatrice, you are awake. It’s great. Nurse, go call her family and friends who have been waiting outside," The doctor said, but before the nurse could move, Beatrice stopped her.
"No. Wait. I want to know the diagnosis first," Beatrice said.
The doctor smiled at the woman.
"I understand. You want to be the one to share this news with your family and friends, right? It’s okay. We won’t say a word until you tell them," The doctor said.
Beatrice furrowed her brows.
What news was the doctor talking about? Besides, it was just a fall; she pretended the whole scenario. Why was there even a diagnosis in the first place?
Beatrice shook her head to remove the thoughts from her head.
The doctor was about to speak when his phone rang, and he walked to the side.
"Yes, administer the dose prescribed by Dr. Siha. I’ll be there shortly. I am attending to a patient. No. It won’t take time. I just wanted to deliver the pregnancy news to her," the doctor said on the call.
Beatrice, lost in her own world, froze when she heard the words.
What did he say? Pregnancy? Who was pregnant? He was talking about some other patient. That has to be it. Beatrice coaxed herself.
"Doctor, what is the diagnosis?" Beatrice asked, her fingers clenching around the bedsheet nervously.
"Oh, right. Sorry about the call. Congratulations, Miss Beatrice, you are pregnant," The doctor said, and Beatrice froze in her place.
No. This couldn’t be... she was pregnant? How could this be? Her pupils dilated as she sat there in shock.
