The Evolution of Genius: Every Night, I Get Smarter!-Chapter 109: Drug Cartel
Chapter 109: Drug Cartel
The door opened, and in came a serious-looking man in casual clothes.
He knew I was important in the family, the one with all the ideas.
He asked, "Sir Maximilian, good to see you getting better. Your mother’s worried. So, did you end up here for a specific reason, or did you really forget what happened last week?" His voice was strong and carried a sense that he knew a lot about important matters.
I replied, "There is a reason, but I can’t share it right now. I hope I never have to use it. It’s in case someone finds out about what I’ve been up to."
I asked him, "How’s the business going?"
He replied, "Orders are steadily coming in and increasing. We’ll have another batch ready soon, but we might need to open another lab."
I instructed him, "Open it right away. Don’t wait; we need to grow fast. Just make sure there are another 10 or so people ready, and, as last time, don’t give them much information."
The man nodded, and I continued, "If they get found out, they shouldn’t have any information or connection to the lab or the website. They only need details about where to send it, when, and how to pack it."
I added, "I would even say, create two labs while you’re at it. Scale it up quickly. The more places, separated from each other, the harder it will be for investigators, making it more confusing to connect them in case they get caught."
The man nodded, "I understand. We will do so."
I replied, "Yes, I will work on getting advertisements and making it even more secure and undetectable."
As the man was about to leave, he asked, "Is that it?"
I answered, "Actually, no."
I then instructed the loyal man of the father to ensure that the clinic faked the results, even if they were fine.
I want them to show some problem, make something up.
And of course, because it’s a private clinic, everything is possible.
I told him to tell the owners that I would make an anonymous tip for the help that they have provided to people.
After the night at the private clinic, I spent a million LUVR on the donation, ensuring that the fake results went smoothly.
Leaving the clinic, I headed back home and then straight to school. Upon arriving at the school parking lot, I proceeded to classes.
When I reached my usual spot, Sharlotte asked, "What happened to you? Why weren’t you present yesterday?"
I replied, "I had something that I needed to take care of."
She suggested, "Can we go to the crib after classes?"
I responded, "Not really. I have none of what you want."
Confused, she asked, "What do you mean?"
I looked at her and clarified, "I don’t have it. And I never did."
Her expression shifted from confusion to fear, and she nodded, seemingly understanding my message. Despite this, she continued to cling to my arm.
As the class ended, Sharlotte and Imir inexplicably walked behind me.
I wasn’t sure if they were addicted to the drugs or me.
Mark approached and asked, "Are we going out?"
I replied, "We can. But I have none of what you want."
He looked confused and said, "What? I never wanted any of it. You stupid or something?"
His expression made me think that he was truly just a friend. The only one that wasn’t just with me for the drugs.
Oriol appeared shortly after and we made our way to the spot where they had previously taken the drugs.
After Mark’s genuinely confused expression, we continued to our usual spot. Upon reaching the location, Oriol asked, "Maxi, do you have any pills?"
Before I could respond, Sharlotte unexpectedly punched Oriol’s arm and firmly stated, "Hey! No, he doesn’t. He never did!"
I wondered if she was my minion or something.
Oriol, visibly surprised by Sharlotte’s reaction, glanced at her and then turned to me, asking quietly, "Did you get caught? You need to know that I never said anything..."
I smiled and reassured him, "No, no. Nothing of that sort."
Mark, who sat on the windowsill, seemed taken aback by my response. He questioned, "Hmm!? You didn’t? Then why aren’t you dealing?"
Turning to Mark, I thought for a moment. While it might be safe for them to know some details, I opted to keep the specifics to myself.
I replied, "I’m not dealing anymore. I’ve moved on. I’m the real deal now."
Imir, the skinniest of the group, lying on an old sofa, looked at me and asked, "Real deal? Like what?"
I answered her, "I’m too important for the operation to deal drugs."
Sharlotte grinned at my words, hugging me even closer. While the old Maximillian might have welcomed such attention, I just wanted to leave and proceed with my plan.
Before we left, Oriol asked, "So, is there a way to get the drugs?"
I responded cautiously, "Umm... I can’t say, but if you keep on checking the dark web, then soon you should find out..."
As I spoke, Mark chuckled and said, "So you took some inspiration from what I said, heee?"
I smirked, neither confirming nor denying his assumption.
Soon enough, I found myself back home, and it was time to work on enhancing the security of the website and servers.
The chat that automatically erased every 30 seconds was already in place, serving as the method through which I communicated with the technician my father had hired.
We focused on making the IP routing even more elaborate.
We created dozens of domains and subdomains, ensuring that each time a user accessed the website, a different network of VPNs would be used to establish the connection to the server.
Each server we rented worldwide had a unique setup of domains and subdomains.
The plan was to rent entirely new servers and domains every month to keep the investigators guessing.
At this point, the website was so secure that the only way investigators could find us was through a mistake we made. This was the usual way people got caught on Earth—sending a message to the wrong person or using the same nickname on the public web.
In our case, the nicknames were just numbers.
...
A week passed swiftly, and there was a notable update on the progress.
Within that short span, the two new labs were up.
Surprisingly, the demand had increased twentyfold, posing a challenge to produce such quantities even if three labs were running at their full capacity.
Plans were underway to expand to five more countries and establish another eight labs.
Things were starting to take off, and the success of the operation led to my father granting me full access to information and the highest authority to make decisions.
What amused me was that the candle business wasn’t merely a cover; they were genuinely selling millions of candles every month.
There had even been a suggestion of concealing the drugs inside the candles, but I dismissed the idea, fearing it would too easily link those drugs to the company.
In the morning I received a call from the father. As I picked up, he initiated the conversation.
"Maxi, I’m calling to invite you to something."
"Yes? What is it?"
"Let’s just say it will be a fun night. I decided that you should be a part of it."
"Sure, when exactly?"
"Tonight at the office, in the basement to be exact."
"I see. Alright. I will come."
The conversation ended. The basement of the company office hmm?
I guessed that it would be some sort of questionable moral activity he was talking about.
Deciding whether to attend the event in my father’s office basement, I thought about the other Maximilian’s situation.
What If I left this for him to take care of?
Instead of leaving him confused, I wrote a detailed note on his phone’s alarm messages. I told him about the recent events, the fact that he is now an important person, and the meeting in his father’s office.
To make sure he wouldn’t miss it, I set the alarm to remind him every five minutes.
Now, it was up to him to decide how he’d handle this new life. I told him to enjoy the moment and told him to act confidently.
The plan was set, and I could go ahead and go back to Earth. I wanted to contact someone at SpaceZ and visit Veronica together with Oliv.
I thought about my other self and quickly fell asleep.
...
I returned to my original body and swiftly made my way back to Boston. Exiting the wardrobe, I found my parents having breakfast with Oliv.
As Oliv caught sight of me, she spit out some of her coffee cutely in surprise.
I casually asked her, "Can you go to Germany today?"
She sighed and replied, "Actually, no. I need to go to classes. Let’s go tomorrow, please..."
I responded, "Sure. I have another thing to do. I will handle it today."
My father chimed in, "Eat breakfast first,"
"For sure."
