Chapter 51: Resting and Rooms.

Ascending back to the fifth layer proved to be more harder than descending down!

As myriad amounts of stairs were the only way to travel through the layers, Cetas could feel sweat trickle down his forehead.

Still, after pacing through for a couple of minutes, Cetas was finally relieved to rest.

Sitting down on a bench near the stairs, he and Elishia held their heads up high, portraying their overall fatigue.

Panting, Elishia held her hand up and said in a tired manner, "Wait.. Let us catch our breaths first.. It’s.. like.. climbing a mountain here... Ahhh! I hate this.. place!"

Staring at her with a blank face, Reid contested, "Maybe you should invest your Flourish into Physique Zeal so that you wouldn’t get tired every second!"

"I’ll get to it okay? Besides, I’m only a Seeker, I still have plenty of options to go for! Perhaps I’ll even get a strong Unique Zeal soon!"

Cetas, who was sitting upright, turned his head to the right to face Elishia.

"You don’t have a Unique Zeal?"

Pondering about this, Cetas knew that Elishia’s food gave those that consumed it some.. bursts of energy and strength. He suspected that, in some ways, this was a unique power belonging to Elishia.

However, it seems that Cetas was mistaken..

"Not yet! I’ve been focusing mainly on Zeal that can improve my cooking skills. So that’s probably why my Zeal hasn’t converged yet and formed into a Unique one."

With curiosity in his tone, Cetas asked, "Then why does your food provide unusual strength and vigor?"

"Oh does it?"

"Indeed," Cetas and Elishia turned their head to the direction of the voice and gazed upon the elegant Jones, "Even though Elishia does not possess any Unique Zeal, her skill for culinary matters is too astounding to the point where it gives energy to individuals - Zealot or not."

Elishia gazed at Jones with a sour look, "Is that an insult?"

Jones shook his head.

"No, Elishia.. It is a compliment. For your skills are comparable - or even beyond a Zealot’s prowess."

Crossing her hands, Elishia spoke in a delicate manner, "Compliment accepted. Thanks Jones."

Then, she shifted her head to Reid’s direction and glared.

Letting out a ’hmph’ Elishia stood up. Following her, Cetas also stood up and walked alongside the crew.

Cetas and the others were located in the slum side of the fifth layer, currently, they were searching for a place to stay in and of course, being in the slums was better than being on the governed side of the fifth layer.

With the abundance of members of the Church roaming around on the right side of the fifth layer, it was easy to get noticed even if they were disguised.

So, it would give less hassle to the Aegir pirates, especially since none of them wanted to deal with unwanted trouble daily.

After 10 minutes or so, Skadi found a suitable inn that provides several rooms and even private bathrooms. For a place such as the slums, this was the best that they could get.

In contrast, though, the price is quite high. However, since it is the most comfortable and proper inn in the slums, there was nothing that Skadi could do.

Every day, the crew needed to pay 20 Soli each. That is accounting for their room, the maintenance of the place, and the overall quality of the inn.

So, for a week, they would have to pay 140 Soli or 1 Solaris and 40 Soli. All in all, the 6 members of the Aegir pirates would contribute to 8 Solaris and 40 Soli, quite a high price for a place located in the slums.

Nevertheless, Skadi didn’t complain.

Inside the inn where the dining area and counter was located, Skadi walked up to the inn owner and paid the full price up front.

Naturally, this garnered the attention of people eating in the dining area, glaring at Skadi and her crew members with greed.

Skadi didn’t care though, if they had any intentions to steal then they needed to face her upfront.

So.. she glared back, pushing the winds through their eye sockets and making them temporarily rub their eyes in discomfort.

With this, she gestured for her crew to ascend the stairs leading up to their room.

There were 6 assigned rooms for each and every one of the crew members. All of which are located on the 3rd floor, occupying 1/2 of the rooms in the inn.

12 rooms in a parallel format, all facing each other as they traversed through a long hallway. The rooms assigned to the crew were the 6 rooms on the right. Meanwhile, the parallel rooms in front of it were mostly empty, only occupied by one tenant.

Skadi occupied room 301, the room closest to the stairs. Then, in order, Galkan to 302, Jones in 303, Reid in 304, Elishia to 305, and lastly, Cetas occupied room 306.

Even though the crew had separate rooms, Skadi assured them that she had spread her winds all over the entire inn. This means that her sixth-sense was activated throughout the entire place so if anything goes bad, she would immediately be warned.

A breath of relief washed over Elishia’s heart as she worried that having a room to herself could expose her to a tantamount of danger.

Yet, she also appreciated the privacy that Skadi offered.

Cetas didn’t know what danger lies in having a private room. Instead, he appreciated the peace and silence that being in solitary could bring.

Additionally, there was a window in his room where he could gaze at the stars all he wanted.

With this, the crew was about to head to their rooms when Skadi suddenly stopped them.

"Wait.. everybody, I forgot to give you all one thing.. Come to my room."

Opening the door of room 301, the Aegir crew entered casually.

It was cramped, seemingly perfectly fitted for only a single person to stay in.

Still, it wasn’t too cramped for 6 people to fit in.

Circling around Skadi, the crew gazed at her with utmost anticipation.

She brought out a sack of Solaris, and made the coins float to each member of the crew, entering a small pouch with a string tying its opening.

"Here.. 20 Solaris, spend it wisely.."

As Cetas studied the gold coin with a half-sunken sun and 4 rays, he naturally grabbed one of them and became allured by their presence. He remembered the underground ’market’ back in Lakalan, and decided what he could buy with 20 Solaris..

However, he shook his head and subtracted 5 coins from his pouch.

Then, he faced forward to Elishia, and handed her his debt.

"Here.. I’m paying you back."

Forming an ’o’ in Elishia’s lips, she raised her fingers and placed them on her soft cheek, "Thanks, Cetas.."

"It’s only basic courtesy.."

Curious about this, Skadi asked, "What’s this about paying back?"

Replying in a soft tone, Elishia looked at Cetas, "You didn’t tell her?"

"Tell her what?" Cetas looked dumbfounded.

"The gun!"

"Oh."

With a casual tone, Cetas immediately reached inside his black cloak and revealed an ivory gun made out of bones.

Tilting her head to the side, Skadi let out a gentle voice, "You bought a Zeal Weapon, Cetas?"

Cetas nodded.

"That’s great. Be sure to practice with it once in a while. Why haven’t you done so when we were travelling?"

Pondering for a second, Cetas raised his gaze to the ceiling,

Then, he answered in a flat tone, "I guess.. it left my mind? I was really focused on my Origin Zeal.."

"That’s understandable. What do you use for bullets?"

Recalling what the black-masked merchant said, Cetas raised his eyebrows and expressed, "Based on what the gun and bullets are made out of, I believe that it’ll require bones.."

"Noted. Then I shall go and purchase some ingredients for ammunition making. Galkan here can help you greatly."

Cetas shifted his gaze to the bulky man’s direction, noticing a wide grin in his face.

"Forging bones, huh.. I’m quite familiar with that.. I’ll come with you Captain." Galkan laughed and placed his chubby arms on his waist.

With a nod of agreement, Skadi turned her gaze at the others, "What about you four? Would you stay here for a while or explore the city?"

"I’ll explore!"

"I’m staying."

"I would want to rest my stature for a little while.."

"I want to come with Elishia and explore.."

Skadi smiled and nodded, "Okay.. So Elishia and Cetas will go out while Reid and Jones will stay in."

"Since both of you are still fairly new to being a Zealot.." Skadi swiped her right hand in the air, casting a veil of wind around the two, "This should serve as protection. Be careful, now.."

"Will do!" Elishia raised her hands and cheered.

Twisting the door handle, Skadi led the group outside of room 301.

"I’ll lead you two outside the inn, aye?"

The two agreed and followed Skadi and Galkan down the stairs. Meanwhile, Reid and Jones both respectively made their ways to their rooms, either sharpening their blade or resting in the bed.

Upon reaching the main hall of the inn, Skadi glared at the people dining and made them avoid their gazes towards her and her crew members.

Cetas noticed this and failed to understand the emotion felt by the people in the dining hall.

What is the meaning of this emotion.. fear? Why do they look so disturbed by the sheer glare of Skadi?

It took less than 2 minutes for Cetas and Elishia to exit the inn. Now outside, Skadi waved them goodbye and bid them farewells.

"Be wary now, return before sundown.."

With an enthusiastic grin, Elishia cheerfully let out her voice, "We will!"

She waved at Skadi as they proceeded through in the distance, not stopping until they disappeared in the horizon.

Afterwards, Elishia faced Cetas, an excited glint brimming in her eyes.

Cetas was taken aback due to the enthusiasm that the auburn-haired girl brought.

With an elated voice, Elishia offered Cetas, "Let’s go to the third layer!"

Cetas was lost deeply in thought.

Third Layer? Isn’t that where the nobles live?
