The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 320: Laying Cards
Chapter 320: Laying Cards
The surprise operations were extremely successful; they completely caught the organization off guard. A lot of hidden bases and key hideouts were uncovered and raided.
Although the world was also plunged into unrest, it was an inevitable and necessary sacrifice.
Their situation was still a lot better than in the past timeline, where almost half of the world was involved in a huge war. Spade was determined to take control of the war this time as he decisively attacked these bases.
After the operation, the empire did the clean-up, and the spoils of war, which were the evidence and secrets of the organization, were brought into the capital.
During the clean-up, they cooperated with the local governments; the empire wasn’t so arrogant in their approach, unlike when they barged in and did the operation. The government also needed to be aware of what was happening to their country and clean their own ranks.
Aside from this point, the empire would not interfere; they were only concerned with organization matters.
Most of the red categories on the map were cleaned up by them, which was a massive blow to the organization.
The world was also shocked to see a lot of forbidden drugs being revealed, as well as the massive underground laboratories. Not only drugs, but weapons, explosives, stolen relics, and even... slaves.
They also rescued some orphans, as these were all future organization agents after they were brainwashed and became dependent on drugs. Fortunately, most of these children could still be saved with proper care and treatment.
Spade also didn’t sleep and stayed up all night as he coordinated with every team while also observing the situation. Almost all of the higher-ups were also awake.
This huge operation was very crucial for their future movements in this war.
Spade was sitting on the couch, flipping through the documents while also listening to the updates on the frontlines that were sent to him in real-time. A cup of coffee was also on the table, which was now empty.
However, he was only flipping the documents in his left hand while his right hand was also busy brushing someone’s hair. Of course, who would it be?
Spade lowered his gaze again as it visibly softened while looking at his omega, who was sleeping in his lap. His fingers brushed against Arren’s dyed hair, which was now again showing its roots.
Arren was peacefully sleeping, and sometimes he would move, which made the blanket around him fall slightly, so Spade would glance at it and leave his gaze on the documents before gently pulling the blanket.
Watching Arren, Spade’s heart and mind were put at ease. Spade was used to all-nighters; being in his position, staying up late or overnight was already a routine.
Only when Arren came into his life did he gradually return to his room and sleep regularly.
However, being in this situation, Spade’s mind was more energetic than most all-nighters he had for years. Maybe... Being accompanied by someone you love made it different?
Spade’s lips hooked up slightly at this thought; it felt strange, but he also liked it.
Arren had told him earlier that he would accompany him all night, which Spade disagreed with at first, but with his omega’s persistence... Of course, in the end, he always gave in.
In his words, "I’ll accompany you from now on. I’m your future... empress, after all."
Arren was a bit embarrassed when he said that, and his ears also reddened, but Spade really appreciated it so much.
So, while the operation was ongoing, Arren also helped him sort out the documents, and Arren made sure he was involved this time. He was also silent and didn’t flirt with Spade at all, and he was so focused on his job, which was quite endearing in Spade’s eyes.
He had never seen Arren that behave before.
Spade was often talking with someone through calls, and Serrien would arrive personally to hand over the documents.
However, when it hit three and Arren often yawned and his eyes were obviously sleepy, Spade urged him to sleep. Arren was stubborn, but he made concessions that left them in the same situation at the moment.
Even with the world being in chaos because of his actions, whenever he looked at Arren, Spade knew he had made the right decision. He didn’t want the same destruction as the last timeline.
It was still fresh in his mind, as though he had only woken up from it not too long ago.
Spade would not let his opponent lay his cards at full strength this time. He didn’t care if he was cheating; Spade didn’t even feel bad about flipping up the table this early.
This time, he was determined to play his cards to an even bigger advantage. For his... for their future.
Perhaps he was indeed a bad monarch through and through. And Spade didn’t regret any of his decisions this time. He could only hope... The world would understand him someday.
Although no one really was blaming him, Spade wanted to shoulder the responsibility and burden for everyone who was affected by this war.
He was so lost in his thoughts that Spade didn’t realize that he was staring at Arren for too long and that, at some point, Arren was already looking up at him.
Arren’s eyes were half-awake at most, but gradually, he reached out his hands and touched Spade’s chin.
Spade blinked and saw Arren was awake. He quickly held Arren’s hand.
"Did I wake you up?" He softly asked, playing with Arren’s soft fingers.
Arren shook his head, only looking up at him. Spade thought he was still not awake, and so he urged him.
"Sleep some more; it’s still late."
It was barely four in the morning, and Arren only slept for an hour.
Arren didn’t respond but blinked his misty eyes, and then he pinched Spade’s fingers. Spade was taken aback and confused. Was Arren still dreaming? freёnovelkiss.com
"What are you thinking?" Arren suddenly spoke; his voice was hoarse but clear.
Spade fell silent and intertwined his fingers with Arren.
"I’m thinking of the situation and my plans." He didn’t know what Arren sensed, but Spade didn’t want to really burden his omega more than he already did.
Arren pursed his lips and then narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "You’re lying."
Since he had just woken up, Arren couldn’t appear intimidating, no matter what; he looked cute instead. Spade’s lips arched and denied.
"No... I’m not."
In a way, he was also thinking about his plans, so technically, he didn’t lie.
Arren seemed unconvinced, and slowly, he sat up and looked into Spade’s eyes directly.
"Here," Arren pointed at his temporary mark using their intertwined hands. "I can feel it..."
Without waiting for Spade to listen, Arren scooted closer and hugged his alpha.
Arren whispered, "No matter what it is, We’ll do this together."
Spade’s lips quivered at this, and he quickly hugged Arren. He hummed and nodded.
"Right. We’ll do it together."
His shoulders suddenly relaxed; even though it was an illusion, his burdens seemed to become lighter then.
