The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 290: Arren’s Adventures (4)
Chapter 290: Arren’s Adventures (4)
Arren thought at one point that it was better to leave this place as soon as possible, lest they be implicated more than necessary. However, after hearing her reason, he realized as well that instead of finding anyone and wandering aimlessly on the street, he could just seek her help on this.
After all, someone who could help him was already in front of him; why would Arren find another? There was still urgency within him, and as much as possible, he wanted to hurry up.
Arren wanted to escape this place, and even more so, he wanted to meet Spade. After the memories had returned to him, he didn’t even have enough time to process them before he was forced to set them aside for the time being.
He then contemplated whether to reveal his identity, but Auntie Mildred had beat him to it.
"Of course, wait here; I’ll take my phone." She stood up and entered the house, leaving Arren confused, even though he was technically the one who borrowed her phone.
Arren’s eyes focused on the door that the woman had just entered, and a realization again dawned on him. Auntie Mildred had already recognized him.
It was possible that she only realized Arren’s identity, as he was sure that there wasn’t any familiarity in her eyes when they met earlier in the dumpster. It made sense, as Arren’s state wasn’t really good, and now that he was already clean, his appearance and temperament would be emphasized even more.
As for acting oblivious as though she had not noticed, Arren knew that it was a consideration, not only for him but also for her, especially the kids with her.
If a well-known noble and the emperor’s lover at that, were reduced to that state, no one would be convinced that nothing dangerous was behind it. So, Arren began to bite the bullet; he opened the matter himself.
It didn’t take long, and Auntie Mildred returned, and Arren couldn’t help but observe her. Despite knowing Arren’s identity, she still appeared calm, and nothing seemed to have changed.
This time, Arren finally sighed in relief. No matter her real identity or the real reason for her actions, Arren felt the utmost gratitude for her. So, he let his shoulders relax and showed her his comfortable appearance.
This change might not be easily noticed, but Auntie Mildred obviously sensed this as she sat beside Arren and handed him the phone. She patted Arren’s hand.
"You can use it as long as you want."
Arren wordlessly grasped the phone and looked at it. After a while, he looked up and met her eyes.
"Thank you." Arren’s eyes heated up and he bowed his head, his heart filling with gratitude.
He was being emotional, and the way he held the phone was as though he was holding his one and only hope. In a way, it was the truth. With the danger still on his tail, Arren had to contact Spade immediately.
Auntie Mildred only urged him and even lifted his head as though telling him that she didn’t deserve it, but Arren argued otherwise, she deserved it.
Although he didn’t insist anymore, the older woman left him alone. Arren then focused on what he was about to do while taking a deep breath to calm himself.
As he looked at the phone, Arren suddenly had a doubt. What if Spade didn’t answer it because the call came from an unknown number? Or what if Spade’s phone was not on him? These questions bombarded his mind for a moment before he dismissed them with a mocking laugh.
So what? He only needed to try. And calling Spade was not even his last option; if that didn’t work and his what-ifs were proven correct, Arren could still use his social media accounts to contact someone trustworthy enough to relay his message.
Disregarding anything on his mind, Arren began to type Spade’s number. Of course, Arren had long memorized the alpha’s number; he was confident not to forget it even if he forgot his own number.
Swallowing his nervousness, Arren double-checked the number and dialed it. Soon, it began to ring. His heart also started to thump as though matching the ring’s rhythm.
Honestly, Arren was really worried about Spade and his father. The two would undoubtedly have had the biggest reaction to his abduction. Arren was also worried about Mother Empress Liviera’s condition because of what happened to him.
So, he was nervous to know what was happening on the other side as much as he was eager to know. The first call ended without being answered. Arren bit his lips and tried again.
He was prepared to try again and again, and if it really was hopeless, he would resort to using his social media account and contact maybe Ramon if he was online.
The second try and even the third were futile. Arren shut his eyes and murmured for Spade to answer while fidgeting in his seat.
"Again," Arren dialed again and chewed on his lips as he waited for the call to be answered.
Just as he thought that this fourth attempt was also in vain, Arren’s eyes widened when the call was finally answered. He couldn’t even react for a moment, and he was momentarily frozen, as though he were confirming if the call had indeed been answered.
Arren also looked at the screen, and he confirmed that the call was indeed answered. Yet there was only silence at the other end of the line. Even if that were the case, Arren was certain... His alpha was at the other end of the line.
Spade was listening to him.
In no time at all, upon processing this reality, all of his emotions surged to Arren all at once, and the tears he had been holding back for a while now freely streamed down his cheeks as he choked and sobbed.
"S-Spade... It’s me..." Arren was as though a kid who wanted to be comforted. No, he wasn’t a kid.
Arren was a lover who wanted his alpha to come and fetch him. He was an omega who wanted to return to his alpha’s arms.
His tears endlessly fell, and Arren had no intention of stopping while also calling the alpha’s name, wanting the other to know how much he missed him.
And finally, a sound resounded at the end of the line. It was a hoarse voice and even sounded weak, but it was a voice that couldn’t be more familiar to Arren.
[Arren?] The voice called.
Arren nodded his head even if the other couldn’t see him.
"Yes, it’s me. It’s me, Spade."
There was a pause before the alpha repeated Arren’s name again and again, as though he had become broken.
And Arren answered that it was him all over again.
The two fell into a storm filled with emotions, venting out the bottled-up emotions within them.
