The Editor Is An Extra-Chapter 72: Action 2
But of all the fights, the most dazzling one, was the one between Levi and Rose.
Their swords clashed in incinerating flames and cracking thunder. Levi undoubtedly held the edge when it came to speed, courtesy to his lightning ability. But Rose was undoubtedly deadlier. With each exchange, the area around them was increasingly being decimated.
Trees evaporated into mummified husks, while some completely turned to ashes.
"First art: Blooming spring." Rose chanted. A visual representation of blooming flowers appeared behind her.
Her sword was enveloped in a blue hue before she swung at Levi, sending a wide vertical arc of aether.
Levi’s figure suddenly blurred, as he sidestepped. Then he retaliated swiftly. He focused on his lightning, and channeled it through his sword, then pointed it at Rose. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
BOOOOM! CRAKAKAKA!
The beam of lightning surged at Rose with speeds beyond human comprehension. But alas,
"Third art: Fall!" A high pressured shockwave was generated as rose swung her sword at the lightning beam, thereby displacing it in the process. But the shockwave didn’t stop there, it proceeded to slam against Levi, sending him flying for a few meters, before he flipped and landed on his feet.
The two paused after that, gazing at each other with a calculating gaze.
"You are undoubtedly stronger than I am." Levi said, wiping a trickle of blood off his lips. "But by the time you manage to defeat me, my fellow classmates would have long eliminated yours." he gestured to the chaotic skirmish in the distance. Their fight had managed to take them a bit far away from the others.
Rose’s face fell a bit. Their team really was filled with fodder. But remembering Delilah was among them, and remembering the surprising prowess Damon showed when they faced the teleporting heretic, her expression returned to normal.
"You don’t have to worry about them, they can take care of themselves." She said as her sword began releasing wisps of steam. "But you, I’m going to eliminate you right here."
"Hahahaha!" Levi burst into a fit of laughter, before his eyes suddenly steeled with cold resolve, as purple lightning began cracking along the blade of his sword. "You’ll have to try harder than that, princess."
------------
While Rose was having her bout with Levi, I was cutting down the enemy. It wasn’t as easy as cutting down chickens of course, but it felt far more easier than all the fights I’ve been through recently.
I blinked towards a guy who could control earth, my leg arching in a roundhouse kick, but he bought his earth coated forearms to block.
’Damn that shit hurt!’ I inwardly exclaimed as my lower shin met the earth coated limbs.
I jumped back, but the boy did something artistic. He raised his leg, then with a swift and practiced motion brought it down hard on the ground.
The earth ground immediately responded like concentric waves on a pond, quivering and transforming into a seismic surge that radiated across the entire area.
A sweeping force that extended its influence, reshaping the entire terrain in a ten meter radius, engulfing the whole area.
Earth spikes jutted from the air with sharp ends. But before they could reach me, I pumped aether into my legs, and operated mirage steps at the highest level I could.
I managed to barely escape the range in time, with the last spike inches away from my throat.
I didn’t waste time thinking, instead I retaliated.
"Second art summer blaze." Then immediately followed up with a; "Third art: Fall." If summer blaze was a burning strike, the shockwave from Fall amplified that, sending a searing heat wave in the boy’s direction.
BOOOM!
The heatwave exploded, but instead of in flames, it was in hazy air and debris. I then instantly followed up with another "Fall." To clear the air.
When the air cleared, the boy was no longer there. Just as I was about to heave a sigh however, my body suddenly felt like water.
"What..." I tried to speak, but my mouth couldn’t move. It was then that I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Hehehehehe!" A feminine giggle sounded from behind me. I tried to turn, but I couldn’t. The only part of my body I could move were my eyes.
But the the figure herself soon appeared before me.
"You let your guard down." she said giddily. "If you didn’t there’s no way I’d be able to touch you without you sensing me."
She was right, upon seeing the boy gone, I let my guard down. Hey, don’t blame me, I kinda forgot we weren’t in a one on one fight.
"No hard feelings, your former highness," she said sarcastically. "But I have to eliminate you." She produced a small dagger in her hand.
But just as she was about to thrust the dagger at me, an ivory blade suddenly jutted from her chest, splashing her warm blood all over my face.
Her face grew pale, and was clouded with shock, before she disappeared.
I helped my main body off the ground, as I flicked the blood off my sword. I reckon her ability was to be able to render someone motionless with a touch. Pretty good ability honestly, but she just had to monologue.
Her monologue gave more than enough time for my reflection to get here.
"You bastard, you didn’t get here on time!" I accused the reflection as I wiped the blood off my face.
"And you idiot, how could you let your guard down in the middle of a battlefield?" The.redlwvrion retorted.
Not gonna lie, he had me on that one, or is it that I had me on that one? Sometimes the whole thing just becomes confusing.
With a nod, we both flickered away to find more enemies. I reached back into the heart of the chaos where everything had started.
Delilah had entered melee, using both her bow for defense, and a sharp wooden dagger she had probably conjured.
And Dion... "Is he...? I paused. Dion had strings wrapped around a figure, and was using said figure to fight another, like a puppet master controlling his puppet. Had to admit, I didn’t know he could do that, but it was cool as hell.
The others in our group that hadn’t been eliminated were fighting surprisingly fine. There was this buff guy making wide slashes with his great axe, and there was another girl who would be visible one moment, and invisible in the other, making her a headache for the opponent she was fighting against.
As for me, I pushed off my feet, straight towards Delilah who had two enemies fighting her, and one more rushing to join the fray.
I swung at him from behind, thereby intercepting him, but he ducked with surprising agility, making my sword pass over him. But I wasn’t done, my knee snapped at the back of his head before he could rise again.
That didn’t keep him out of though, but it surely disoriented him. He rolled forward before staying in a crouch.
Then he smiled.
’What is he smiling for?’ I frowned. But almost instantly, something almost imperceptible shot towards me. I raised my sword to guard my face.
Clang!
Sparks flew off as I deflected the... ’Is that a needle? From his mouth? What sort of ability even is that?’
But I didn’t have time to think, multiple needles shot from his mouth this time, at once.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
I rapidly deflected each and every one of them. But I wasn’t just going to stand there, under his barrage of needles.
My body blurred, flicked to the left, then to the right, all in a zigzag motion, making it hard for him to target me. By the time I got close, he was completely out of options.
I bought my sword down on his head, but he disappeared before it could touch him.
"Tsk." I clicked my tongue in annoyance, but then frowned. ’Dont tell me I’m getting bloodthirsty?’ I mean sure I loved some chaos, and maybe some blood and gore... ’Yeah, I’m turning into a psycho.’ I realized. Not that I wasn’t one before.
I sped towards two guys fighting, the one I identified as the enemy was about to win, or so it would be if I wasn’t present. As he swung his sword for my classmate’s head, something incredibly happened.
His sword had suddenly detached from his shoulder in a shower of blood.
"Ahhhh!" The scream was short and primal, before both he and his severed hand disappeared.
"T...thank you." the extra covered in blood stuttered a thanks.
But instead of replying, I quickly jumped back just as an arrow embedded itself in the place I had been standing.
The youth looked at it with a shocked expression, before,
BOOOM!
It exploded right next to him, eliminating him in the process.
"Ahhh!" I sighed. "I was beginning to wonder where you were." I turned in the direction the arrow was fired from, and there he was, the lean archer. "After all, we do have a score to settle." I smirked.
