The Duke's Masked Wife 2: The Prince's Outcast Bride-Chapter 206: Losing sight (1)
Chapter 206: Losing sight (1)
Later in the evening, Penelope and Tyrion returned home.
The maids carried in what was purchased during the outing, whilst Penelope walked inside with Tyrion.
"We did not find a dressmaker for me. It is harder than I thought it would be. They are all so talented, but there wasn’t anyone I was drawn to. Anyone I could welcome here, and not worry about them speaking of their time here," said Penelope.
Penelope wanted a dressmaker she could use for a long time. One who could come to her home to do work and leave without gossiping.
"If you picked anyone today, it would have been a rash decision you might regret. You’ve at least narrowed it down to three, so whoever makes the best dress and keeps quiet will be your dressmaker," said Tyrion.
Tyrion looked back at their carriage. "I need to go somewhere for a moment. I’ve been meaning to look at the training ground and quarters for the knights. I’ve put it off for too long."
"Very well. I won’t join you since my shoes have been pinching me for hours now," Penelope said, awaiting the moment they would be pulled off.
"I’ll be taking Damien with me for a moment," said Tyrion.
Penelope thought it was suspicious that they both needed to go see the training ground, but since Tyrion was not leaving home, Penelope wasn’t worried.
"I will be fine with Matilda. Try not to hurt yourself on the training ground," Penelope said, leaving the men behind.
"Follow me," Tyrion said, leading the way out of the front door.
Damien closely followed Tyrion. He had been waiting for the moment Tyrion would visit Warren and start his torture.
"Has he woken up?" Tyrion asked.
"I am told he pretends to be asleep when the guards are near, so he hasn’t eaten since he arrived. I was expecting him to be loud and trying to escape," said Damien.
"I’m certain he’s plotting a way out as we speak," Tyrion said, willing to bet Warren was up to something.
Tyrion walked over to the quarters for the knights and was led to the room picked for Warren until he would be moved to the dungeon.
Inside the room, Warren laid on the cold floor and closed his eyes when he heard someone coming. Pretending that he was asleep had helped him so far.
Warren’s back was to the door, so when it opened, Warren didn’t know who was present until he heard Tyrion’s voice.
"Boil water and bring it to throw on him," Tyrion ordered the knights.
Warren’s eyes fluttered open, but this wasn’t seen by Tyrion.
Tyrion stared at Warren’s body on the floor. He noticed how Warren’s head moved ever so slightly, like he was itching to turn around.
"Get me a knife, Damien. It’s best to cut off his tongue while he is still in deep slumber," Tyrion said, and to no surprise, Warren sat up. "And he wakes."
Warren glared at the prince.
Warren’s battle had been with the duke, so why was he in the prince’s hands?
"Why am I here?" Warren asked, seeking answers.
"You must tell me. You’ve been doing a lot of foolish things these days, like approaching the duke’s family and meeting with Amelia. I want to hear about the latter," Tyrion said, curious what the two could talk about.
"That doesn’t concern you. The duke couldn’t finish me off himself, so he sent me to you. How does it feel to do his dirty work?" Warren asked, taunting Tyrion. freёnovelkiss.com
"This isn’t as satisfying as I want it to be. There’s something wrong with your head if you think the duke couldn’t have killed you himself. I was hoping you were just a fool," Tyrion said, disappointed.
"There’s nothing wrong with me. My words have been proven true by the duke sending me here. He even sent his guards to capture me instead of doing it himself. He’s a coward," Warren spat.
Tyrion looked down at his shoe to check that none of Warren’s saliva reached him.
"Let me school you, you little fool. You’re a man who’s had to do things by himself. For men with money, why bother yourself with certain tasks when you could send others? You wouldn’t understand it," Tyrion said, but he knew Warren wanted to.
"Is that why you hate Edgar? You envy the power that he has. The truth is, you’re not worth Edgar’s time for him to go out of his way to be the one to hunt you down. Rather than guards, I would have sent hunting dogs to get you-"
"You royal bastard!" Warren yelled.
Warren stood up so Tyrion wouldn’t be looking down on him.
Damien and the guards around moved, positioning themselves to protect the prince.
"You fail to hide your jealousy. Your mother has some money left, doesn’t she? If she didn’t, those homes she had would have been sold off. You shouldn’t try to chase after what others have. Look where it placed you," Tyrion said.
"I would give you a second chance to turn your life around, but I’ve already given someone else a second chance today, so I’m already at my limit. You’ll have to rot here. Well, not here," Tyrion said, since Warren had to go to the dungeon.
"Just kill me," Warren said, preferring to die rather than be locked away. "Get it over with!"
"It’s not fun when you beg to be killed. You’re ruining this for me," Tyrion said, his time starting to feel wasted.
"The water is on, Prince Tyrion," a guard informed Tyrion.
Warren stared at Tyrion, trying to read his mind. He was already awake, so was he still going to be dosed in hot water?
"Despite what is said as of late, I am a kind person. I will limit your torture if you tell me why you were at Amelia’s home. I am giving you one chance to give me a proper answer," Tyrion said, but Warren reacted as expected.
Warren spat in Tyrion’s direction, and this time, it landed near Tyrion’s shoe.
"That’s my answer."
Tyrion smiled.
Warren should have taken the kind offer when he had the chance.
"The knife, Damien," Tyrion said, holding out his hand for the knife.
Since Warren wasn’t going to speak and he would pretend that he was asleep, then in Tyrion’s eyes, Warren didn’t have much use for his tongue. He certainly didn’t have any reason to keep his eyes open.
"Put a metal bar on the fire," Tyrion ordered the guards.
Warren’s eyes widened. His imagination ran wild with thoughts of what Tyrion would do to him.
