The Dragon Lord's Aide Wants to Quit [BL]-Chapter 351: The Inevitable Snap
It couldn’t have been more perfect.
Honestly, Riley felt extremely satisfied. So satisfied that for a good moment after his entire body felt like it was on fire, all the finally well-cooked black dragon could do was stay in place as a different kind of mana coursed through him.
Sure, this was practically their third marriage, but this one had been so unexpected that Riley wasn’t certain he’d ever be able to forget it.
At the very least, he imagined how he was going to explain to Kael the intricacies of the ceremony and all the things he had just learned after receiving his inheritance. Maybe they could even say a little something to his ancestors.
Admirable plans, really.
So, considering such a thing, how come they went from successfully completing the Rite of Blood and Flame to Riley suddenly asking, "W-would they really be okay on their own?" in a span of what felt like forever but was actually just mere minutes?
Well, that would be thanks to a combination of intense thirst, as well as underestimating the reasons why ancient dragons usually flew off into the horizon right after settling their mating bonds.
Raging desires.
Of course, they could always claim they rushed out of the crypt due to a slew of other things, like letting the departed rest instead of having to contend with nudists or unexpected guests. Or they could even claim that Riley desperately needed rest after that ordeal.
Then again, what was the point when it would just be blatant lies?
However, what really set in motion the desperate and somewhat controversial departure was when Kael lost it.
Because when his twig suddenly shrank and shifted back into his human form, Kael didn’t expect to see a different version of his one and only mate.
There, partially kneeling on the stone floor, was Riley.
His legs were bent neatly to the sides while his hands rested between them, his posture loose and completely unaware of the picture he made.
Unlike the Riley who had entered the crypt earlier with short black hair, the one before the golden dragon lord now had extremely long and glossy black hair that cascaded freely over his shoulders and down his back. The silky strands spilled across the floor and draped over his body like a natural veil, concealing more, yet not enough of his otherwise unclothed form.
When Riley slowly lifted his head, those familiar emerald eyes met Kael’s gaze.
Only now they were slightly different.
The pupils had narrowed into elegant slits that gave his gaze a faintly draconic sharpness.
Around his neck rested an unusual piece of jewelry that had not been there before. It lay against his smooth and fair skin in striking contrast, the metal dark and possibly ancient.
Riley looked almost divine.
Like some living art who had no idea what he looked like at that very moment. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Seeing something like that, and with his twig looking up at him with those eyes, it was no wonder the last thread of the dragon lord’s self-control finally snapped.
It already held on for far too long, anyway.
And that was how the floating relatives who had been eagerly waiting inside their bubbles so they could offer their congratulations, pay their respects, and praise the two for a wonderful mating ceremony were suddenly surprised to find themselves back in their own rooms and beds.
All of them.
And with extremely confused expressions.
For about ten seconds, there was complete silence.
Then one golden dragonling realized what had just happened.
They’d been kicked out.
Safe to say, he was not a happy camper, despite still being extremely awed by the ceremony they had just witnessed.
Because how could his uncle and auntie do that to them?
The adults, however, were far more understanding.
They simply explained that they couldn’t stay for long because the mana inside the crypt was just too strong for the young ones. Moreover, it seemed that Thyrran also needed personal space because the former guardian was practically molting magic-wise.
"Then what about Auntie and Uncle? Why aren’t they back inside their room like the rest of us?"
"Well, they’re a little... busy. But they’ll be back soon, for sure. For now, we can just have fun. So you ought to sleep. If you wake up too late, then you might miss out on breakfast," explained Renee Hale with a slightly contemplative face that made the children’s eyes widen in horror.
They couldn’t possibly miss breakfast!
Thankfully, the children were immediately distracted by such a crisis and agreed to be tucked back into bed.
But to their credit, it wasn’t like they totally forgot about the adults they’d been worried about.
Just as Renee was about to leave the room, Liam suddenly called out to her.
"Umm, well, goodnight, Mom. But, my brother... You said they were b-busy? Busy with what?"
Renee Hale paused.
Then she leaned over and gently patted her son’s cheek.
"With each other," she answered softly. "They’re busy with each other."
And she definitely wasn’t wrong.

Frankly, all Riley could concretely remember was how they managed to turn around, bow, and hightail it out of there.
He had been so fevered that he didn’t even realize how different the process was for exiting compared to entering the crypt. When they had first arrived, the journey had been long, deliberate, and layered with barriers. He even had moments when he thought that he was going to die.
Leaving, however, had been as simple as being allowed to port out.
But before he was whisked away from there, Riley hardly noticed any of that.
Because all he could really see was his mate.
Standing right in front of him was Kael Dravaryn in his human form, and Riley was almost certain the sight alone was enough to make anyone forget their own name.
The dragon lord looked nothing short of breathtaking.
Free from the disguise he had been sporting since they got to the waterpark, this was the man that Riley absolutely loved.
And by the looks of it, this was really the man who loved him.
Kael’s tall frame was tense with restraint, every line of his body drawn tight as though he were barely holding himself together. After shifting from his dragon form, he too stood unclothed, his long golden hair spilling freely down his back like liquid sunlight.
The strands reached past his shoulders and brushed the small of his back, leaving the broad planes of his chest and abdomen completely exposed.
His golden eyes were no longer entirely human.
The pupils had narrowed into sharp slits, glowing faintly with draconic intensity as they remained fixed on Riley.
Kael looked like he was a breath away from exploding.
And the way he stared made Riley’s abdomen tingle.
Because he had practically dreamt of this.
And that was the beginning of how the newly-minted black dragon found himself backed against a heavy door with his mate’s lips crashing against his.
"Hngh—!"
The sound escaped Riley before he could even understand where they were. The kiss landed hard and desperate, just as desperate as the black dragon who had only moments earlier screeched at his ancestors for this.
